Yunyang City, Yuan Family Mansion.

Old Yuan sat sowhat gloomily on the heated brick bed. Today was the Winter Solstice, originally a day for a small family gathering.

However, the house felt cold and deserted.

It’s not that there was no one ho, but rather there were too many people.

Having many people should be lively, but in the Yuan Family Mansion, it was the exact opposite.

Yuan Pandi and Yuan Zhaodi had left Yunyang City before winter set in. The two of them wanted to visit various affordable eateries, checking accounts and collecting paynts, all of which needed to be completed before the year’s end.

As of now, the two brothers didn’t even know where they were busy.

Yuan Wangdi and Yuan Laidi, although titled for their military rits, had more duties with their newfound status. Now they were both commanders stationed at different places, and without orders, they couldn’t co ho.

In the house, there were only Old Yuan’s daughters-in-law, and the grandchildren and their spouses.

Since the Yuan Family had already split, it was reasonable that even Mrs. Li and others weren’t staying by Old Yuan and Mrs. Zeng’s side.

"So what are you thinking about again?"

Mrs. Zeng returned from outside, noticing Old Yuan’s unusual expression and slightly furrowed her brow.

"I’m thinking, did we make a mistake?"

Old Yuan looked up at Mrs. Zeng, "Back then, because the second and third sons joined the army, and both families were expecting, we let them live in Xiao Wu’s house."

"But it’s been eight years since, and the second and third families have stayed here all along, and now, even the eldest family has moved in!"

"Shoucheng got married, and they also lived here!"

"Last ti, when Jiaojiao ca back, her forr courtyard was taken over by Shouxin and his wife!"

Since the last ti Yuan Bao returned to Yunyang City and left hurriedly, Old Yuan realized sothing was amiss.

He was thinking of addressing this issue when Yuan Bao ca again. However, he didn’t expect that after one visit, Yuan Bao didn’t return.

"So, are you suggesting having the eldest move out?"

Mrs. Zeng looked at Old Yuan, roughly guessing his thoughts.

Old Yuan nodded, saying, "I have this thought, but I feel it’s not quite right. I’m indecisive."

"Xiao Wu and his wife are in the Capital now, but their current residence is a bit small. If we both go there, it would be even more cramped!"

"Old woman, what do you think about this?"

Old Yuan, being indecisive, wanted to hear Mrs. Zeng’s perspective.

After listening to Old Yuan, Mrs. Zeng smiled slightly and said, "Old man, I think differently from you."

"Don’t forget, Jiaojiao will soon be of marriageable age!"

"And according to tradition, our retirent should be managed by the eldest!"

"Besides, Xiao Wu is an official in the Capital. Although Yunyang City is not far from the Capital, this house is indeed a bit far from the Capital."

"You an, this house should be for the two of us, and also the eldest family?"

"Isn’t that good?"

Mrs. Zeng didn’t find anything inappropriate.

"Old man, I know you feel like you owe Xiao Wu because he originally bought this house. But I think there’s no need for that."

"How filial is Xiao Wu to our family?"

"Moreover, now he’s a high-ranking official and married an incredible wife. He doesn’t care for these trifles!"

"Back then, when Xiao Wu went to study, all four of his brothers supported him a lot."

"Without the support of his four brothers back then, how could Xiao Wu have achieved everything he has today?"

"Since Xiao Wu is successful now, he should be helping his brothers."

Old Yuan, deep in thought, nodded as he listened to Mrs. Zeng’s words.

"Old man, palm and back of the hand are both flesh."

"If Xiao Wu has any dissatisfaction, I will talk to him!"

Mrs. Zeng imdiately volunteered confidently.

And with her words, Old Yuan’s internal conflict was completely eased.

...

Near noon, Yuan Yindi returned to Yunyang City with Ruan Wan, Yuan Bao, and Yuan Shouqian, Yuan Shousun, appearing outside the Yuan Family Mansion.

When Old Yuan and Mrs. Zeng heard that Yuan Yindi returned, they were all smiles.

"Old man, see, Xiao Wu is filial indeed!"

Knowing the youngest son’s family has returned, Mrs. Zeng’s face was filled with delight.
