Chapter 767: Chapter 767: British Gentlen Have Much Charm

Li Qiao swallowed and a look of surprise was hidden in her eyes.

This Princess Margaret was dressed in a haute couture gown paired with a black won’s suit, and her sitting posture was the very embodint of the etiquette of ladies of prestigious families.

As long as she did not speak, she was the distinguished Princess Margaret.

But once she began to talk, she instantly fell from grace and beca little Li from the village…

Indeed, her inside was very different from her outside.

Xi Luo led Li Qiao to their seats and straightened two teacups before picking up the teapot; her brows furrowed as she muttered, “I’ve told you hundreds of tis, don’t point the spout at people, it’s rude.”

Princess Margaret blinked her blue eyes and shrugged carelessly, “Well, it’s your fault for sitting opposite the spout, are you blaming ?”

Leaning back in her chair, Li Qiao looked up at the ceiling—this was true friendship, stamp approved.

Xi Luo gave Princess Margaret a sidelong glance and cleared her throat before introducing, “Li Qiao, from last night, you’ve t.”

Princess Margaret tilted her head to examine Li Qiao, her long eyelashes fluttering twice, “Hey, sister, it’s great to et you.”

“We’re all family here, speak properly,” Xi Luo said with a disdainful arch of her eyebrow.

Princess Margaret glanced at her and paid no mind, leaning forward to look straight at Li Qiao, “Are you one of us?”

Xi Luo: “…”

This girl wasn’t just a contrast between her front and her back, she was fucking brain-dead.

She wiped her face and nudged Li Qiao with her shoulder, “Don’t mind her, that’s how foreigners are, with no folds in their brains, just so single-minded…”

Li Qiao pretended to sip her tea, using the rim of the cup to hide her curling lips.

This Princess Margaret was indeed unique.

Not long after, Princess Margaret sent the two bodyguards outside the screen away to fetch pastries. Once they were out of earshot, she slouched back in her chair without any image, and, with a British accent, complained, “Holding up this facade all day long, it’s exhausting.”

Holding her cup, Xi Luo teased, “Who asked you to be a princess, and the future duchess at that. You’re so lucky.”

The future duchess…

Li Qiao’s lips curled in a faint smile as she subtly looked toward Princess Margaret, waiting for her reaction.

At that mont, Princess Margaret leaned back in the soft chair with no image to speak of, pouting as she complained in English, “It’s ridiculous, they don’t even ask and arrange a marriage out of nowhere. I never agreed to be a duchess.”

Xi Luo touched the diamond stud on her ear and chuckled awkwardly, “Then why did you dance with Charlman? With all the looks of love between you, I thought you had an understanding long ago.”

The last idiom, Xi Luo deliberately said in Chinese.

Princess Margaret was confused for two seconds before stretching her leg under the table to kick Xi Luo, “That’s disgusting, who would have a secret understanding with a chanical arm. If I didn’t dance with him, it would not only embarrass the Royal Family but also leave the duke without face. I had no choice but to go along with it. Besides… British gentlen have their charm, Charlman just isn’t my type.”

chanical arm… quite apt.

Li Qiao lowered her eyelids, her amusent growing, “It was announced last night at the party…”

“Speak Mandarin.” Suddenly, Princess Margaret caught sight of the two bodyguards returning with a tray and quickly interrupted her, reverting to her elegant princess deanor.

Xi Luo pursed her lips, suppressing a laugh, and whispered, “She’s surrounded by Weston’s informants. Just shows how important it is to learn a foreign language.”

Li Qiao rubbed her forehead, her liking for Princess Margaret soaring several levels higher.

Indeed, quite a multifaceted princess.

The two bodyguards laid out the exquisite Western pastries on the table and then went to stand guard outside the screen.

Princess Margaret sighed silently and pushed the pastries towards Li Qiao, “Were you going to say that since the engagent was announced last night, there’s no room for turning back now?”

Munching on a scone, Xi Luo corrected her vaguely, “It’s turning back! Not turning a round. I’ve taught you a hundred tis.”

Li Qiao curved her lips, watching them bicker with amusent, and said in a calm voice, “That’s the idea.”

Princess Margaret shrugged her shoulders, “Anyway… I haven’t thought of a counterasure yet, we’ll take one step at a ti. If all else fails, I can always push my sister into an arranged marriage.”

Li Qiao was speechless for the umpteenth ti: “…”

Xi Luo seriously nodded in agreent, “That’s quite a good thod to betray your sisters.”

Fearing Li Qiao might misunderstand, she quickly turned to add, “Half-sisters, those two have grudges from their past lives.”

Understood.

Margaret didn’t want to enter into a marriage alliance, so she would try to shift this marriage arrangent onto soone else.

But ultimately, Charlman would still end up establishing a close connection with the Second Crown Prince.

Li Qiao fell quiet for a mont, then her next words were startling, “Do you have any non-royal sisters you could betray?”

Princess Margaret, chewing on a cream puff, looked at Li Qiao, seemingly stunned.

anwhile, Xi Luo licked the corner of her mouth, her eyes sparkling. Before she could speak, Margaret pointed across the table with a cream puff in her mouth, utterly serious, “Yes, her, Miranda.”

Xi Luo: “…”

To hell with good sisterhood.

Li Qiao suppressed a smile, gazing at Xi Luo with a hint of teasing, “She won’t do.”

Margaret asked seriously, “Is she too old?”

Xi Luo pushed back her chair, ready to leave; otherwise, she feared she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from pouring tea all over Margaret’s face.

Li Qiao put her hand on Xi Luo to keep her seated, smiling as she smoothed things over, “It’s not about being too old, she deserves better than this.”

Xi Luo felt relieved, sat down again with pursed lips, and glanced sideways at Margaret, “Do you believe I would signal a heads-up to your bodyguards?”

The three of them chatted and joked a few more tis, and then Li Qiao straightforwardly revealed her purpose.

Charlman must not marry into the Royal Family.

As for Margaret’s thoughts on her proposition, she responded with approval, clapping her hands, “Let think about who I’m not on good terms with…”

Xi Luo casually sipped her tea and tapped the table with her knuckles, “Let us know when you’ve decided. I’m leaving first.”

Margaret didn’t try to detain her, looking from side to side, then, not finding an appropriate container, simply picked up the plate full of cakes and handed it to Li Qiao, “Sister, it’s a light gift with deep affection for our first eting.”

And so, Li Qiao walked out of the private tea room expressionlessly, carrying the thoughtful gift from Princess Margaret.

Xi Luo followed, laughing uncontrollably, occasionally reaching out to grab a piece of cake and shove it into her mouth.

By the ti they got into the car, Li Qiao was left with just an empty plate in her hands.

She looked at the car window button, considering whether to throw it out now or to do it later during the ride.

Xi Luo saw what she was thinking and crossed her legs, saying in a drawl, “That porcelain has been passed down in the British Imperial Royal Family for at least a hundred years, priceless and difficult to purchase.”

Li Qiao withdrew her gaze and casually stuffed the plate into the storage pocket behind the seat.

Xi Luo looked on with satisfaction, “Not too foolish after all.”

Leaned back against the headrest, Li Qiao raised an eyebrow and glanced at her sidelong, “Did you co to Britain specifically to help ?”

Her acquaintance with Xi Luo was not as close as with the Seven Sons; over ti, theirs was more a casual friendship.

Yet during Xi Luo’s visit to Britain, she had given Li Qiao so many surprises that she felt an urge to probe further.

The Xi Luo she rembered wasn’t known for being particularly warm-hearted.
