Three days passed just like that, and Zong Zhan seed to have vanished from the world.

During the day, Xi Luo would occasionally go to the office, and at night, she binge-watched dramas alone at ho.

Like many single professional won, her life was smooth without any ripples.

So much so that an hour before the incident, she was still ntally dissing Zong Zhan, thinking he was deliberately being alarmist, just to make her relent.

That night at twelve, Xi Luo sat in the living room eating ice cream, with her iPad on her lap, the search page showing the profile of the 318 Brigade.

The content was sparse, not even listing past achievents, only the origin of the brigade.

Xi Luo was born into the British Imperial, but she also understood the secrecy of certain special brigades.

She turned off the search, threw the unfinished ice cream directly into the trash can, "Damn it, he must be setting up."

As Xi Luo spoke, she tossed aside the iPad, tugging at the hem of her nightgown, ready to go back to the bedroom.

The silent property was eerily quiet, making any slightest sound intensely amplified by the senses.

Besides, Xi Luo was inherently sharp.

She stopped mid-step by the coffee table, her eyes like a torch looking towards the floor-to-ceiling window covered by sheer curtains.

The room was lit, and the curtains obscured the outline outside the balcony.

Xi Luo squinted her eyes, bent down as if to grab the iPad, but in reality, she slid a black Desert Eagle out from the gap in the sofa cushions.

Opening the magazine, Xi Luo cursed silently, only three bullets left.

She didn’t hesitate, turned around to go back to the bedroom to find more ammo, when suddenly the sound of a silenced gun ca from the window lock.

It was the sound of a silenced gun.

"Miranda, my good partner..."

The voice outside the balcony was hoarse like a broken gong, especially creepy at night.

Who knew how many people had co, but only one man in black clothes and pants walked into the living room.

He held a silenced gun in one hand, rotating the silencer on its muzzle from ti to ti, and his face, partly obscured by long hair, bore obvious burn scars.

"Miss M, it’s been so long, aren’t you coming over for a hug?"

Xi Luo seed to be hugging the iPad with both hands, but in reality, she had hidden the gun behind the tablet. She greeted him with a cheerful smile, "Brother Jackal, always the joker. Who would hug a beast? Wouldn’t you agree!"

"Beast?" The man called Brother Jackal subtly aid the gun at Xi Luo, approaching her with a cold sneer, "To , you’re worse than a beast, yet I never minded? We once agreed to be comrades through thick and thin, but what did you do?"

Xi Luo glanced at his gun muzzle, eyes darting towards the balcony, "If you speak properly, we could still be brothers now."

"Brothers? Then tell , which special agency are you really a mole for? Speak clearly, and maybe I can spare a bullet tonight."

Xi Luo calmly looked Brother Jackal in the eye, the cold wind from the balcony fluttering the hem of her dress, her pale legs particularly striking.

She laughed, nonchalantly saying, "Since you’re so eager to know, co closer and I’ll tell you slowly..."

She deliberately drew out her words, Brother Jackal intrigued but aware of her cunning, slowed his approach, eyes on the tablet in her arms, "Miranda, you only have one gun, can it really..."

"Shoot your mom!"

While he was talking nonsense, Xi Luo threw the tablet at his face and quickly turned to dash toward the hallway.

This group was truly a band of desperados.

Though she was agile, a head-on fight ant certain death.

She had just taken two steps when the silenced gun fired, not hitting any vital parts, yet mocking her like prey before the kill, with bullets grazing past her ankle, leaving a deep bloodied mark without penetrating.

Every step as she fled saw bullets whizzing past her ankle.

Such pain was not enough to trip Xi Luo; as she rounded the living room, she suddenly spun around, firing three shots at Brother Jackal in retreat.

Two shots hit his heart, one missed.

Brother Jackal clutched his chest, retreated two steps, opened his black coat with a light laugh to reveal body armor, "Miss M, you lost."

Xi Luo had vanished into the hallway; such pursuits had happened countless tis this past year, sothing she could handle.

The entrance door was yanked open, and in that instant of rushing out, a dark gun muzzle was pressed against her forehead.

Outside stood a man in a mask and black clothes, with a takeout box dangling from his wrist as if disguising his gun-raising motion.

Xi Luo’s pupils narrowed, glancing at the elevator’s surveillance, footsteps of Brother Jackal echoed behind her, "Miranda, you’re still so ruthless. After all, we were sworn siblings, yet there’s no sentintality?"

"What sentintality do I have with you?"

The man outside, using the gun muzzle, forced Xi Luo back into the hallway.

The escape door slamd shut, Xi Luo beca the trapped beast.

The intention to kill her was clear, but restraint was everywhere, as Brother Jackal pressed the silencer to Xi Luo’s temple, leaned close, and whispered, "Really it’s turning a blind eye. You think getting in with the Zong Family dostically ans you can rest easy? Then how did tonight happen? Not even a ghost is here, has Red Gate Sect Zong San abandoned you?"

Xi Luo fearlessly faced the gun muzzle, chuckling against the wall behind her, "How do you know he abandoned ?"

"A woman like you, who only sees profit, Zong San would be a fool to guard you. Has he tired of you?" Brother Jackal might have recalled sothing, his gaze darkened, forcefully pressed her head, "In our line, the most hated are moles. Rember how the last one died?"

Xi Luo directly slapped away his silenced gun, "Enough, stop bluffing . If you had the guts to kill , would you need to say so much crap? Seen the drama, right, villains die by talking too much, and I think you’re almost there."

Brother Jackal wasn’t angry; he backhanded and slapped her, "This mouth of yours really is infuriating. Miranda, where is the cargo?"

"With life-saving items, would you hand it over if you were ?" Xi Luo licked her lips, then while he was unprepared raised her knee, hitting him hard in the groin, "Good partner, I owe you."

Brother Jackal noticed her intent, dodged, but still got affected slightly.

He supported himself against the wall with one hand, chuckled as he patted her face, "All you can do is these petty tricks, don’t rush, back at our base, our brothers will entertain you well."

Xi Luo was full of rebelliousness, and impervious to both soft and hard tactics.

She crossed her arms, looked down at her bloodied ankle, sighed silently, "If you remain indifferent, I’ll truly go back with them. If I can’t withstand the torture and get turned, don’t bla for not warning you, Chief, Leader."
