The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat! Chapter 48: Meteorite Shower
Alice laughed as hard as she could as the car zood off.
Bet they didn’t see that coming.
Just as the guard was descending with his dangerous attack, Alice simply pushed one of the guards, who had been standing still and letting this particular guy do all the work for whatever reason she was not interested to know, into their position.
She grabbed Mark by the arm and, using the dust as camouflage, leaped towards the car.
He was surprised how she was able to do all that in a single mont, but of course, she was amazing, and he needed to start getting used to her doing surprising and dangerous things.
"Let’s just leave them be. You know how to drive, right?" She asked.
Mark imdiately understood what she was going for and nodded.
She threw Alfred into the back seat and got in the passenger seat.
She shut both doors at once and did what she did, pissing the gorilla man. (Let’s call him that for now.)
The reason she took Alfred with her was because she understood these sorts of situations quite well.
She didn’t kill Alfred, but if she left him there, out of the hostility they held for her and the desire to win against her, they just might kill Alfred and put the bla on her, justifying their reason for going after her.
And that aside... She was sure she wouldn’t be able to get into the headquarters and et the council who wanted to see her without Alfred’s presence.
"Miss Alice, that was too dangerous." Mark suddenly said, and she turned to him, who was clenching hard on the steering wheel and refusing to peel his eyes off the unfamiliar road.
"Oh, co on, like I’ve not passed through more dangerous situations." Alice said, swiping her hair back.
"You faced monsters, Miss Alice." He said and she raised her eyebrow at him, wondering where he was getting at.
"Your point?"
He finally peeled his eyes from the road and turned to her, showing the worry in his eyes and he said,
"Humans, though not as strong as the monsters you faced, are very dangerous."
Alice went silent. So, he was worrying about her, huh?
But he seed to be forgetting that she ca out of the Pitts that were ruled by humans, even before she faced her first monster.
And she... She survived.
So, she knew a thing or two about the dangers humans posed and, though not very confident, felt she could handle it.
Then, a mighty boulder dropped in the front of their car, causing Mark to turn the car away, quite dangerous as it almost capsized.
"Whoa, what was that?" Alice asked and looked back but couldn’t find anyone. So she used her third eye and peered into the distance, where they had left the Gorilla man, as well as the other guards.
She could see him digging up boulders from the thick ground and then he yelled,
"teorite shower!" And then he threw it, aiming precisely for their location.
"Turn," Alice yelled but didn’t even give him ti to turn as she turned the wheel by herself, and just in a nick of ti as the bolder almost crushed them in the path they were taking.
They were so far away, but he was still able to throw big, crushing boulders that far.
She gritted her teeth.
She was pissed.
"It’s dangerous, we have to take another route." Mark said
"And I’m pretty sure that’s what they want us to do." Alice said and cracked her knuckles. "Let handle this."
But Mark grabbed her arm and asked,
"Where are you going?"
"Don’t worry. I’ll just be on top of the car. Keep driving." She said and he had to let go of her to stable his hands on the wheel.
"Just tell what you’re planning." He demanded and she thought about it.
She hadn’t thought of it yet and he looked at her in disbelief.
"Are you serious right now?" Be asked and she shrugged.
"I was gonna co up with sothing eventually." She said.
"Miss Alice, don’t be reckless." He said and she smiled, displaying her full set of white teeth.
"Got it, boss."
Then, she kicked the door away.
"Was that necessary?!" Mark asked, trying his best to stabilize the car as they had gotten into rocky grounds.
The exit of the dungeon, the other side of the gate was just ahead. They could just try to hold it out till they got out but Alice has already made up her mind.
She got on top of the car and though it was bumpy, she stayed still, unshaken.
"Now," she stretched out her hand and watched the gorilla man dig up a new boulder. "...why don’t I show you what a real teorite shower looks like."
She stretched out her hand, and her hamr appeared in her hand, forming from tiny fragnts, and she was definitely taking her sweet ti.
She clutched the handle of her hamr and watched the gorilla man throw the boulder, yelling out a na she felt was not appropriate for it.
"I hope you can hear ." She scread and bent down, ready to leap. "Because I’m about to show you what a real teorite shower looks like." She grinned and leaped up into the air but didn’t use too much force, as she didn’t want to throw the car off balance.
She watched the boulder approach at full speed and set her hamr.
"It’s la but I’ll do it," she said, referring to the act of shouting out the na of an attack. "This is what you call, teorite Shower!" She yelled and smashed the boulder, sending it back to its owner in hot broken pieces.
The guard took cover from the countless rocks that invaded them.
The gorilla man did not take cover and proved that his skin was too thick for at rocks to hurt.
But he was conflicted.
He miscalculated.
He originally thought he would be able to get her with his boulders, but it didn’t work, and they were already too far gone for him to catch up.
He slowly reduced to his original form and took a pair of dark shades from one of the guards. He put it on, with his ripped clothes hanging like rags on him.
He said,
"I’ll get you. You little brat."
Alice dove into the car and let out a satisfied sigh.
"You see, boss," she said grinning widely. "...not reckless at all."
He looked at her and then shook her head.
What was he going to do with her?
They passed the gate and finally arrived at the headquarters.
Its building towered high into the sky, and undeniably, the walls, as well as the ground they rode on, were made with precious dungeon materials. Mana stones, to be precise, were broken into tiny pieces and made into material that resembled glass.
This was a place that no ordinary person could co to.
"Say, Boss, have you ever been here before?" She asked, still marveling at what was in front of her.
"No," he answered and she looked at him.
"Then why are you so calm?" She asked and he glanced briefly at her, giving no answer. But in his mind, he thought.
’It’s just glass. I... Have seen sothing far more beautiful than this.’ His ear flushed.
