The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat! Chapter 438: Should I just run away again?
"A lot?" Alice tilted her head. "But why can’t I rember a single one?"
Once again, Diane felt irked. Was it fun ssing with her?
Seeing Diane’s reaction, Alice laughed.
"I’m just joking."
"You better be." Diane hissed. "Then, we should probably have a sleepover." She looked up, thinking for a bit. "I an, I’m basically kidnapped and have nowhere else to sleep, so why not?"
"Wow, a real damsel in distress." Alice rolled her eyes and Diane showed her first, forcing Alice to seal her lips.
"The others were quite curious about what you’ve been doing so far, so we should probably invite them over."
Alice suddenly paused and turned to Diane.
"You guys still communicate?" She asked, looking surprised.
"I an, we’re in the sa class, so of course we communicate," Diane answered, looking at her strangely. "Why? You seem surprised."
"Well," she turned her head and looked forward.
Saying she was surprised was a rather accurate thought but she didn’t know either.
She just felt that after she left, everyone would do their own thing. And since the school building had been destroyed, they would have less ti to hang out with each other.
But Diane kept to her words and transferred to their school. It also seed like she was in their class despite being D-rank.
And not just that... How in the world did they manage to finish the school building so fast?!
She would bite a handkerchief if she had one.
’Shouldn’t the construction take a while? Like, I don’t know, maybe a year?’ She was flabbergasted. ’Why did they finish it so soon? What were they rushing for?’
Unlike Alice who had little to nothing to gain from going to school, there were still a lot of kids who had a lot to gain from the completed school building and resud lectures.
She was beyond speechless knowing that she would have to resu school now that she was back.
’Should I just run away again?’ she wondered in desperation, biting her fingers.
Diane began to understand Alice’s worries and laughed.
"So, you’re scared of going back to school, is that it?"
"Scared? Pft, who’s scared?" Alice put up a front, but Diane had already seen through it. "I’m serious, I just don’t like school. It doesn’t an I’m scared of it."
"Sure, sure, whatever you say." Diane shrugged, walking forward. It was clear she did not believe Alice and Alice gnashed her teeth.
"Don’t make assumptions in your mind," she yelled at her, but Diane simply did as she pleased, heading for the elevator.
"Gosh, I wonder how much the dia will pay for this piece of information, huhu." She looked like an evil witch, and Alice wondered if she should just take her back to her other half because she was already getting on her nerves.
"Of all people I had to kidnap," she pald her face and then realized Leo was right behind her. "Ah, Leo," she turned to him, grabbing his arm. "Help ."
"What’s going on?"
"Get rid of that bitch for ." She said but Leo tilted his head in confusion.
What happened during the ti he was following slowly?
"Just ignore her, Leo. She’s too scared to admit she’s scared." Diane said and then the elevator began to open.
Leo looked at Alice who was growling at Diane, like she was a hound. Hm, this reaction... It was quite familiar.
"Don’t drag into it though," he simply said and took her hand, leading her inside the elevator before it closed.
"Co on, you’re supposed to be on my side." Alice sneered at him and he rolled his eyes towards her.
"Do you really want to answer that?" He asked but she narrowed her eyes away. Sothing told her she didn’t want to hear his response and so she sighed, pitifully.
"Nothing’s working out for today." She sighed once again.
"Oh, get a grip." Before Leo knew it, they were bickering again.
And to think these two, who were swearing at each other and being so threatening were each other’s favorite and cherished person.
How their world worked, he would never understand it.
But aside from that... He looked at his hand still holding Alice’s and how she clasped his tightly, as if not wanting to let go.
It was probably the habit she developed during their ti together.
During one night, she began having nightmares. He didn’t know what they were, and she didn’t either, but each ti he watched her while she slept, her expression would change.
She’d break out in cold sweat and go pale. It was as if she were dreaming of a terrible event from the past, but unlike when she dreamt and recalled a mory of the past, this ti, she didn’t recall anything.
No, it wasn’t that she didn’t recall it, because all signs were there. The nightmare, and the nosebleed afterwards... It happened every night after that, but once she woke up, her mind would go blank.
She wouldn’t be able to recall anything or even get a hint about what she was dreaming about.
It was quite strange. And the only way to calm her down on nights when she woke up several tis from the terror she could not rember, but only feel to her bones, he’d hold her hand.
She slept peacefully with him sharing a bit of his divine energy with her.
It was dangerous, since it was hard for him to refill his divine energy, and doing that every night was taxing.
Still, he couldn’t think of anything else to aid her. It was the only way.
Leo had begun to suspect that the reason for those nightmares might be due to the strain of having that much power in her small human body.
As Alice was, she was strong enough to rival three arch demons at the sa ti.
She grew a lot. And by a lot, she was halfway close to being as powerful as the second calamity.
If they continued at this pace then she would definitely be able to rival it as soon as it descended and then take care of the small fries along with Earth’s heroes.
