The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat! Chapter 318: Gosh, I’m glad I came today
Alice was brought to one of the top-floor booths to watch the action from a screen and observe other competitors secretly.
Such services were only given to special VIPs, so she got this privilege that only a few in the world had.
’Nice, I’m being treated like royalty.’ Alice thought and sat down, crossing her legs. She glanced at Vector whose huge back was hunched, waiting for her words.
She discovered this before, but Vector’s skin was fake. The reason he did not bother to wear a mask was because it wasn’t his real face.
Now that her level was higher than it was when attended the last ti, she could see through his thick disguise.
The man inside that thick shell was skinny and, of course,... Not normal.
She furrowed her eyebrows. He didn’t seem human either.
His psychology was completely different from that of regular humans and the blood running through his veins... Yes, she could see that far... It was polluted.
Knowing this, Alice imdiately entered a foul mood. This guy had consud the so-called miracle potion.
Sensing Alice was depressed, Vector asked,
"Um, Miss Black, is there anything that displeases you?" He asked but she clicked her tongue and said,
"Not really. When does the auction begin?" She asked. "And when do I get to see the supplier?"
"Oh, right." Vector exclaid. "As soon as the auction is over, he will et with you. And you will also be given the balance of your paynt for the goods you offered the last ti. I assure you, we shall treat your needs with utmost urgency."
Alice scoffed.
"Yeah, I’m counting on that."
After all, she wasn’t planning on discarding her remaining balance. She would get her money, get the supplier to talk, and then blow up this place.
She would never set foot in the devil’s shrine ever.
The auction finally began and the first item that was presented was one of her own. Alice enjoyed the sound of bidders squandering money on her goods because that ant she would receive all of her balance later.
She was thrilled.
And then an item ca in. A mana stone. But it wasn’t a regular mana stone. It radiated rainbow colors and seed to hold much more energy source than the kind that powered mana testers.
Alice almost stood to her feet in shock at how much power it contained.
If she fed that stone to Domus, wouldn’t it help in its growth? Who knows? He might even evolve.
"Alright folks, this is a rare mana stone called an infinity man stone. Once-in-a-lifeti opportunity. You can harvest the energy in it for years and it will never run out." The auctioneer announced. It was the guy with the falcon mask. "It’s like a portable powerhouse and you can only find such a valuable resource once, and here in this very action house. It is right in front of you so grab the chance, my dear esteed guests."
The competition for the mana stone was going to be fierce, no doubt. Alice could already find people making calls to make sure they had enough assets to acquire this treasure.
’Gosh, I’m glad I ca today.’
While everyone had different intentions, plans for one great use or the other that could make them more powerful and spread their forces throughout the world of the Awakened, Alice only wanted to give it as a snack to her pet, Domus.
"Then, let us start the bid at one billion." The auctioneer announced, and various batons flew into the air, calling prices that far varied from the starting bid, increasing the price exponentially and unnecessarily.
Alice took her ti, watching and waiting for the right ti to get her hands in the air and acquire that treasure. She wouldn’t let a silly trick like lip sealing stop her this ti around.
Anyone who would try to ss with her this ti would be the first to die by her hands when she began to destroy this place.
"We have a bid of 10 billion. Does anyone want to top this bid?"
"10 billion, and..." Alice said as she raised her baton. "...a million."
It looked like she was ssing around but she wasn’t really going to increase the price so much for no reason just to get a snack for Domus.
’Money is valuable, you know.’ she thought, dropping her hand.
If anyone increased the bid, she would steadily follow their pace, unless it was getting too much and she had no choice but to increase the bid by a leap.
But unless that was the case, she wasn’t going that far and losing her valued resources. Her money.
Since Alice was up at the VIP booth, her words were conveyed through a speaker, making everyone look up towards the boot and murmur, wondering what kind of person was sitting up there.
"Ah, do I hear 10 billion and a million from the VIP up there? Does anyone else want to top this bid?"
Of course, there were still others who were ready to fight to the death to get that mana stone.
Alice waited once more. So looked towards the boot, wondering if she had given up and Vector could not quite understand her intentions either. He was sure she held great interest in the mana stone once she laid eyes on it.
But afterward, she beca so relaxed, resting on her chair and holding on to her baton.
’I wonder what extraordinary plans she has in mind.’ Vector wondered. He was sweating in angst, unable to calm himself.
Her presence frightened him, even more than it did when she ca the last ti.
The artifacts put in place to get rid of an awakeneds stats, forcing them back to the level of ordinary humans, had been improved in a week after her arrival. The reason was that she proved to be a strong individual, possibly SS-class.
It looked and felt like she was still above the set limit as she exerted great dominance and control the last ti she was there.
But it looked like instead of making her less frightening, it made her even more terrifying. He was so scared that he could pee his pants at any mont.
There was no hostility, but there was this fear creeping in his heart that his life would end at her hands.
’No, I am doing everything to her satisfaction. There is no way she will attempt to kill .’ he assured himself and gulped. ’Moreover, killing is forbidden. I doubt she would want to make an enemy of this night auction.’
"Hey," Alice called all of a sudden, causing him to flinch. "I wanna know, when do I get to see this auction master?"
"Ah, t-that’s, right. I rember you said you were ill-inford about the auction’s leadership." He began to clean his face with his white handkerchief. He was sweating too much and she had begun to notice it. "If you’d like, I can take you to et him. Fortunately, he is present at the mont."
Alice went silent, staring at him.
Without being able to see her face, Vector was even more scared. What expression did she have on her face? Was she angry?
Was this looming uneasiness a result of her dissatisfaction?
"Vector," Alice called, slowly raising her baton as she asked him. "Do I scare you?"
"What?"
"15 billion." Alice’s bid went two billion above the last bid, and that got the people below murmuring to their deaths, sneering and cussing at her.
But it wasn’t over. There was still one person who wasn’t ready to give up the bid.
"16 billion." They called and Alice clicked her tongue.
So even going as far as raising the bid by 2 billion was not able to stop them? Well, it looked like she would have to go extre.
It hurt to let valuable money fly like that, but she was not ready to be beaten when she had co this far. And... She could not spend any more ti there. She was on a limited ti since her boosted stats could disappear at any ti.
"W-what will you do now, Miss Black? It looked like you were fond of that mana stone." Vector said, his voice slightly shaking as he feared this would anger Alice but she scoffed.
"This is still far inferior to what I am prepared to sacrifice for that stone." Alice said, acting all cool and nonchalant. "I agree I am money-minded, but..."
She raised her baton and called out.
"30 billion."
’When spending money, one should always look for more ways to earn em. In this case, I’ll be taking my cash back from you, night auction.’
The auctioneer knew that was the end of that big and quickly yelled,
"The infinity mana stone is SOLD!"
Alice sat back and turned to Vector.
"So, concerning my question," she said. "I don’t need an answer from you..."
Vector gulped. He wasn’t even prepared to give one in the first place. How was he going to admit that she scared him and hoped to not get a negative reaction?
Gosh, dealing with custors like this was hard. He wanted to hurry up and get to the boss’s side where he could simply work behind a desk.
"... because," Alice suddenly decided to complete her sentence and he raised his head.
"Hm?"
"...I need you to fear . If you didn’t fear before, you should start right now. Better yet... Begin to resent right this mont, Vector. Because... I am not a good person."
