The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat! Chapter 278: Are you joking with me right now?
Fighting soone inexperienced in one-on-one combat usually ant the experienced one had the advantage.
But when the fight was against an inexperienced yet overpowered opponent, victory was far from assured, and in the worst-case scenario, the experienced opponent would end up dead.
Why? It would be because they pushed the inexperienced to the edge, causing them to feel they might be on the sa level. So, they would go all out, only to end up killing the experienced opponent.
Or...
There was the point of the inexperienced not being able to control the output of their strength, so from the get-go, wanting to respect their opponent, they would take the fight seriously, only to crush their opponent to death before the fight even got anywhere.
Both instances would be bad... For Noah, that is. But even knowing that he might slip and die, Noah felt even more excited.
He wanted to fight Alice who was revered for killing an eclipse dragon without even doing anything.
If a live video hadn’t been taken, no one would’ve believed that such a thing could happen.
"Miss Alice," Noah called. "Do you know that..." his heart wouldn’t stop pounding in excitent. "...your opponent is going to be ?"
Alice looked at Noah for a while, just staring in silence and hay made Noah uneasy. What was she doing? Was she sizing up her opponent? Or was she coming up with different ways to end him?
"What... What are you thinking about?" Noah finally asked and then Alice smirked.
Her eyes smirked alongside her lips as the look of greed enveloped her.
It was scary but she cleared her throat, dismissing that brief wave of emotions in that split second.
"Ahem," she looked away. "I was just thinking, how much food should I have you prepare for once I’ve beat you? You’re the agency leader and all, so you should be heavily loaded. In that case, it wouldn’t matter how much food I ask for. You’ll be able to afford it pretty easily."
"Huh?" Noah was confused and then Adolf burst out laughing.
He thought it had been sothing serious but she really asked for that?
"Food? What?"
He was the awakened agency leader, so it was common sense that she would ask him for sothing after he lost to her, but food? Of all things? This had to be a joke.
"Are you joking with right now?" He asked, and everywhere went still silent. In fact, the atmosphere beca heavy with Alice’s eyes burning in rage and her energy sparking in the air.
"What?" She frowned. "Do you think I’d ever joke around with food?"
"No, it’s not that but... You didn’t think of asking for anything better than food? Co on, it’s food."
"And what exactly could be better than food?" She folded her arms tight, her breasts cupping up on top of her arms. "Let tell you, there is nothing better than food. Take fried chicken for example. That savory taste, that crunchy feeling in your mouth, that flesh that lts as soon as you chew, the delicious and heavenly feeling, I feel I can taste it just by thinking of it." Her mouth salivated. "Nothing can replace the satisfaction of the mouth."
Noah was lost. What was this?
He did hear sothing about Alice demanding food before she answered any question during the last council eting but he thought it was a bluff.
There was no way they all waited and patiently watched her while she ate to her heart’s content.
And even if they did, he would’ve assud that it was because she had just co out of the dungeon that she claid to have been three months long, and she was very hungry.
"Noah," Adolf called.
"Yes, Chairman."
"There is nothing more important than food," Adolf said and Alice’s face lit up. She raised her hands.
"Yay!"
Adolf clapped his hands with hers as her face bead with glee.
"But, Chairman," Noah was stunned.
"See, the Chairman gets it." Alice said. "Let tell you, food is life, and life without food is bland. So, start caring for your als. If not, you’re missing out on the most important thing in life."
Adolf laughed and Mark at the side couldn’t help but laugh as well. Even Marcus was laughing. Leo, on the other hand, sneered at him.
Noah was still stunned speechless. He didn’t understand what was going on.
Since when did awakeneds care about food so much? It was like her whole life revolved around it.
"So," Alice said, bringing his attention back to him. "Since you looked down on food, I’m going to make sure to squeeze your pocket dry once I beat you in that fight. We’ll go on a restaurant marathon."
Noah bowed his head. He interlocked his fingers and went deep in thought.
His face looked serious, as though he was preparing a strategic plan for a brewing war.
"I see." He exclaid. "So, it has co to this."
Alice pointed at him, showing Adolf who shrugged his shoulders, not knowing what he was up to.
"Miss Alice, I will ask again." He said. "You do not want money?"
"Maybe next ti. I want food." She said but then an idea struck her. She started rubbing her hands like a greedy money-grubber with a grin on her face. "But if you wanna throw it in as extra to the food, I’d be happy to accept."
"Not going to happen. You have to choose one." He said and she clicked her tongue.
"Tsk. I guess it can’t be helped. I’ll take the food." She answered.
"Wouldn’t you want artifacts instead? Weapons? Mana stones? Anything other than food?"
"And why would I trade food with so piece of junk?" She asked with a look of disgust on her face.
Noah’s face stiffened.
"Piece of... Junk?" He felt irked. This girl... Did she know nothing? "So, I assu your weapon is also a piece of junk, or do you only fight with your bare hands, as we saw in the video of you taking down the eclipse dragon?"
"Oh, that?" She wanted to take out her hamr but rembered Mark asked her to keep her ring’s function a secret.
On a normal day when her hamr was hidden, she could pretend the ring on her finger was the accessorized version of her hamr, but when the hamr was out and the ring remained, what then would she say?
And for Noah who looked to be very smart, he would imdiately catch on to it.
"I use a hamr." Alice answered. "And it’s definitely no piece of junk as it’s an heavenly weapon."
Their eyes widened. An heavenly... Weapon?
Alice pushed her body forward, provoking Noah with a smirk widely spread on her cheeks.
"So, unless you have a heavenly weapon to give , everything else is a piece of junk."
