*Warning, the second calamity is upon you.*

The warning sign on the screen popped up and everywhere started going red.

Alice was surprised.

The second calamity? The second calamity happened when she clocked 19? Oh, right, it was 2 years from the first calamity.

Wait, now it was all coming back to her.

The important thing she needed to do. The important thing that she was finding it hard to rember. She rembered it now. It had to do with the calamities that were coming.

She had to save the world.

She stared at her other self, who held on to Diane’s body tightly, loudly weeping and cussing out at the system for coming too late.

If she had been awakened much sooner, none of this would’ve happened. Why was her awakened condition so ssed up? Just why did sacrifices need to be made?

Alice gritted her teeth.

Though she did not see exactly what happened and how Diane ended up taking a knife in her chest, she knew that Diane was set to have a tragic death from the start. It was like the order that was ant to be followed and it was ant to help Alice fulfill the conditions of being awakened.

But she was glad she was able to avoid it this ti. Though Diane was assaulted and did get tasted, she did not have a tragic death and she could finally live like every other girl her age.

She didn’t need to die because of her.

Wait, she rembered Leo saying he brought her back to the ti she newly beca an awakened. Then, he brought her back to this ti and allowed her to experience that loss again?

Future her must’ve preferred to have her head exploded than pass through that grief again, knowing Diane died because of her.

She said it wasn’t her fault, but how was she going to believe that when she was the one who made Diane stay behind, only to get picked up by Big Stach’s henchn?

Alice prayed to make the ti back to before she made that mistake but yet Leo took her back to the ti after the tragedy started. Poor Alice... She didn’t want any of that.

Well, it all worked out well since her head exploded and she was brought back, even if it was with no mories.

"Hey!" She heard a familiar voice and turned her head to see Devon.

Ah, there was nothing different about him. He looked around and then at Alice who was still weeping hard at Diane’s lifeless body.

"What happened here?" He asked as he approached. "Did you do this?"

Alice raised her head and turned to him, showing the sorrow in her eyes and she said,

"I wish I did." She gritted her teeth. "I wish I did but I... I couldn’t do anything." She cried. "I couldn’t save her."

Devon watched her, his heart hurting for her. He did not know what happened there, but he could tell that she had lost soone valuable to her.

But this was not ti to be mourning. The second calamity was upon them so they had to get out of there.

"Co," he stretched out his hand to her. "Let’s get out of here. You can’t be here when the second calamity has already started. Let’s get you to safety."

Alice looked at his hand and shook her head. She didn’t want to do anything anymore.

If she was going to die then she would die. She had nothing to live for anyway.

A life of freedom was nowhere in reach if her heart was shackled by Diane’s death.

"Leave alone." She said but he was just as stubborn as her.

"You want to die with her?" He asked. "Then, do you think once you’re dead and your soul ets up with hers, she’ll be happy to see you? She’ll frown and ask, ’Why are you here?’ and then what would you say?"

Alice gulped, shaking her head.

"No, she would never say that."

"Are you sure?" Devon asked and knelt close to her with one knee, resting his arm on the other knee. "Because once you’ve made that mistake, you can’t take it back. The dead cannot take back their decisions but just think, this friend of yours, do you think she’ll ever want to take back her decision? Would she make a different decision when faced with the sa situation?"

Alice thought back to what Diane said,

"I want you to run away either way. Go and be free and don’t look back."

She clearly said that, as if knowing a ti would co when she would have to take the fall for her. She wanted her happiness. She wanted her to get her freedom.

Diane... Why did you have to be so freaking righteous at the wrong ti?

Her tears flooded down again, falling on Diane’s cheeks and wetting them.

She was sad. So sad that her insides were getting torn by the re thought of her incompetence and weakness.

Because she was weak, and she admitted she was weak, she would not hold back her tears.

After all, tears were for the weak.

"Here," he handed her a handkerchief and she looked at his face. Why was he being nice to her? She was a stranger.

"Who are you?" She asked and he, who did not expect her to ask about him, looked at her surprised. "Why are you being nice to ?"

"I’m nice to everyone who deserves it." He said and helped her wipe her tears since she wouldn’t take the handkerchief from him. "And because I know you’re hurting, I want to comfort you, even though I am in no place to do so."

She watched him, still finding his assistance strange.

In this world that was full of give and take, why would a stranger walk up to you in your lowest and have ’pure’ intentions?

He... Wanted sothing from her.

She thought.

And until he said what he wanted, she would keep his favor at heart. He helped her see clearly, so she would give him what he wanted.

"Tell , what do you want from ?" She asked and Devon smiled at her.

"I want you to stay alive and live life with a smile, no matter what happens." He said, and the screen, Alice’s view, went blank.

She could not see anything and once again, found herself floating in the still water.

But this ti, she didn’t stay still, having rembered her motive and the important thing she had to do.

Alice opened her eyes, gasping for air like she had been underwater for a long ti or the oxygen had been blocked and was finally released.

She heaved, her body sweaty and her throat dry. She sat up right away and started coughing. What happened?
