"Jeez, Kids these days." Alice exclaid, hanging her hamr on her shoulder and sighing like she had never acted like a mature adult. "Did she think this was a playground? So childish."

She turned, to find Mark and Devon staring with stunned eyes. She completely beat their expectations this ti. Just how did she manage to take them by surprise every single ti?

They couldn’t even follow her movents.

"Let’s just get back up. Anyone who isn’t of help to this operation just needs to fuck off or wait to get beaten by ." She said, glaring over her shoulder at the awakeneds from Red Fla Guild.

If they were dumb, they could try to attack her but if they were smart, they would know to back off and go find their vice guild master wherever she was going to land.

Then, clapping sounds started resounding and they turned to where the person clapping was.

"Wow, what a show to have witnessed firsthand." It was the masked man. Just what was he doing here now?

How many lunatics did she have to take care of on this fine and lovely day?

"Miss Alice, you always look stunning when in battle." He said. "I’m glad I got here on ti to see it once again."

"Hello, Mysterious Mysteria," Alice said, putting one hand in her jacket pocket while the other was resting on the handle of her hamr that was leaning on her shoulder. "Are you here to help or do you want to follow in Fiona’s footsteps?"

"Oh, I would certainly not want to be hit by that hamr." He said, probably grinning through his mask. "I would definitely die, haha."

"Then you’re here to help?"

"Sothing similar." He got closer and leaned his head close to her, smiling. "I ca to see you."

Alice frowned, tilting her hamr a bit and he saw this as his cue to step back if he didn’t want to be smashed.

"Not so hasty, Miss Alice. I ca to see you but it doesn’t an I won’t help." He said. "After all, my guild master is here, so I have to be here as well."

"Your guild..." She glanced at Devon. "...master?"

There was only one person amongst them that was a guild master so it could only be Devon.

"You’re a mber of the Snow guild?"

Devon sighed, looking away. The masked man was a mber of his guild but he was more of a free mber, being an S-class mage.

"More or less? Yes." He got closer, slipping towards her back and massaging her shoulders but she elbowed him in the stomach.

"Knock it off. I hate it when they place their hands on my shoulders without my consent." She said.

The masked man held his stomach. He did not expect to be elbowed just for putting his hands on her shoulders. Guess this was one more thing that he got to know about her.

He tried to find out personal things about her, but oh well, she never lived personally; she never lived for herself, so there was nothing. That den took a lot from her, he presud.

So, he could say this was a nice discovery. Hmm, speaking of discovery...

"And who are ’they’?" He asked. "Or is it everyone in general?"

She ignored him and sighed.

"This is taking a while." She said, tilting her head to the side like her neck genuinely hurt. She was exhausted. "Hmm, maybe I’ll need that massage after all."

"Most certainly." He was delighted and wanted to place his hands on her shoulder when Mark blocked him.

"I’m sorry, but I don’t believe we’ve made proper introductions." He said, taking the masked man’s hand by force and giving him his cold professional face as he introduced himself. "I am Mark Steiner. I believe we’ve t before but I do not know of your identity. Would you care to do your part of the introduction?"

The masked man looked at Mark. And though with his mask -no one could see his expressions or where he was looking- one could definitely feel his gaze and tell his expression from the tone of his voice.

He glanced away from Mark to his hand that was forcefully caught in a handshake, and then towards Alice, who was looking at them quite oddly. Were they going to start a fight? She was bored. Or so her lazy expression said.

"Ah!"

His lips curled up and he grinned, driving his gaze back to Mark.

"Most certainly." He said. "I go by the na... Michael."

"Hm, Michael?" Alice called and Micheal turned to her.

"Yes, Miss?" He answered gullibly but it couldn’t hide the fact that he was a cunning and shrewd being.

"Why didn’t you just tell when I asked? You made it seem like sothing bad would happen if you said your na once."

"Oh, it was never like that." Michael said and slipped past them to appear behind Alice. "We just never got the chance to sit down and exchange nas. You know," he leaned his head closer and whispered, "I got interrupted the first ti and as for the second," he moved back and smiled. "I didn’t think it was important."

"Right," Alice brushed her ear, looking away from him. "Anyway, you said you’re here to help, right? Well, we’ll need all the help we can get since the gate will break soon."

"Really, Miss Alice?" Devon asked and she nodded. "You can feel that?"

"Hm, let’s just say I’ve been in a gate for way too long to understand the aning of its fluctuations better than those mana-powered machines." She said and yawned. "In any case, the battle’s gonna start soon. I’m not going in there, so the danger’s coming out here."

"Alice," Mark called and leaned to whisper in her ear. "If you don’t feel like fighting, you can leave. You don’t have to fight since you’re not an official awakened and you don’t have to feel obligated to Devon Snow’s guild since you’ve not signed any papers yet."

"Awn, you get the best, Mark." Alice smiled, patting his face lightly. "And yeah, I do want to kick back and relax while you guys take care of things, but unfortunately," she sighed. "...this is all part of my training, so I can’t be a slacker even if I wanted to."

Mark touched his face. She touched his face even if it was a pat. Her hand was warm. But wait, what did she say about training?

"Your training?" He asked, unsure if he had heard her ntion anything like that before.

Alice nodded and walked forward. She gazed at the top of the building, the red gate was glowing even more, and its ominous energy was spreading far wider than before.

She squinted her eyes. It was breaking soon. And she could tell... Her right eye glowed blue... There was going to be a stampede at the start.

So dangerous.

"Miss Alice," Micheal called, standing next to her and she rolled her eyes to look at him, rather than turning her head. "If I may, would it be alright to be by your side while we face this threat?"
