"No. You’re still not doing it right," a cold voice announced.

It had been around a week since Caliste had received the Ghost Step Demonic Arts, and things had not been going as well as he had anticipated.

He wasn’t sure why, but learning this movent technique was a much bigger challenge than he had thought. He believed at first that he would have been able to completely master this technique in less than a day or two. But after a week, he had barely made any progress.

The Ghost Step technique was divided into five different parts, all of them equally important.

As of now, Caliste had only managed to perfectly understand the very first step, which was the easiest for him since it only required him to move his mana in a certain manner to perform the movent technique.

But for Caliste, who had perfect control over his mana, such a step was easy—so much so that even the butler was confused by how fast he had grasped this aspect of the technique when it was usually where most would struggle the longest.

That’s why Caliste was almost sure that it would have taken a day at most. But this was a lot harder than he thought.

He had never really trained any kind of foot movents in either this life or his past one. He had always worked based on instinct, which had made it very hard for him to grasp most of the concepts from the technique.

"You’re still not understanding the basics."

The butler was starting to get desperate, as he had not seen any progress in the past week. He thought that he would be working with a genius, but instead, he found himself working with a failure of a demon.

"I’m not sure how you were able to grasp the hardest concept of the technique first, but I think that might be why you aren’t able to learn the technique correctly. Maybe what’s written inside the book isn’t ant for you."

He was starting to lose hope that Caliste would ever learn this technique.

And Caliste sowhat agreed. There had been zero progress whatsoever since he had grasped the flow of mana. He had no idea what was going wrong; everything was just going to shit.

He had read the manual more tis than he could count, and it hadn’t changed anything.

"Let’s try to work differently."

The butler had already witnessed just how great and powerful Caliste’s instinct was, and he decided that maybe that would be the best way for him to learn.

For example, in a fight.

"We will fight against one another. And I want you to try to use the Ghost Step while we are fighting. Don’t worry; if you miss or fail, I won’t attack you. I just want to see what would happen if you were under pressure and stopped thinking, letting your body do the work instead of you."

The butler wasn’t stupid. He could clearly see the talent in this young demon. It was so of the best he had ever seen. He simply couldn’t find a way to exploit it at all.

That’s why he decided to change his thods.

They found themselves fighting against one another again as the butler decided to attack Caliste lightly at the start to put him under pressure. Caliste quickly dashed back and waited for the attack.

However, Caliste simply dashed forward mindlessly, without a thought in his mind.

"If I wanted to, I would have killed you here."

"You need to stop attacking mindlessly. Use your brain when you are fighting. Your instincts are great, but they could be even greater. Use your mind." The butler released a sigh. "Again."

The sa thing happened. He attacked and quickly backed off. This ti, Caliste didn’t rush at him; instead, he observed him for a few seconds.

"What are you doing? Are you giving enough ti to strike back?"

Caliste gritted his teeth.

He didn’t know what to do. He had never really thought when fighting soone. He would let his body and his emotions do the fighting; he would simply follow through with them. It had always worked for him. So, he wasn’t sure where he even needed to start.

The butler winced. ’I need to push him to his limits. He’s too relaxed.’

Without uttering another word, he dashed forward once again, at a speed that made absolutely no sense. Caliste barely had ti to react as he bent his knees, narrowly evading the strike.

’That could have killed ? What is he doing?’

"Not bad."

Then, another strike. This ti, it was aid at his chest.

Caliste put up his arms to block it.

Another strike.

And another one.

Caliste didn’t have a mont to even try to strike back.

’Why is he doing this? I clearly can’t win against him!’ he thought in the back of his mind as he continued to dodge. ’Wait... thinking. I need to think of a way out of this situation.’

The pressure was too hard to escape normally. Caliste needed to find a way to move away from the butler in one swift motion.

And that’s when Caliste realized what the butler was trying to accomplish. Once he understood, a smirk appeared at the corner of his lips as he felt that his life could be eradicated from this world at any given mont. The butler wasn’t playing around anymore; he was actually trying to injure him.

Caliste suddenly closed his eyes as he observed the path of mana of the Ghost Step inside his mind.

All the training he had done in the past week passed through his mind at a record pace. He felt his body move on its own, and then, once he opened his eyes again, he found himself ten ters away from the butler, like a ghost who had taken a step back.

’D-Did I do it?’ Caliste wondered, confused as he tried to rember the sensation he had just felt. However, there weren’t many. He had simply opened his eyes again in a different position. But based on the look in the butler’s eyes, he had definitely done it.

The butler didn’t say it out loud, but he couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed.

’He comprehended the four remaining steps of the technique in a matter of a single minute. All I needed to do was place him under pressure, and it was an actual breeze.’

That wasn’t the type of talent that could be found in many places.

The butler knew that Caliste was the son of the Demon King, but even then, the speed at which he had grasped everything was mind-blowing.

’Now that I found the way to make him learn things, it will be a breeze to show him the rest of the Demonic Arts.’

The butler smirked as he had finally found the solution to this whole thing.

"Can you do it again?" he said with a smile as Caliste closed his eyes for a mont before reappearing in a completely different place, as if he had vanished like a ghost. Even the butler hadn’t been able to track his movents then, as Caliste hadn’t made the slightest noise.

There was only one problem with how Caliste used the technique. The place where he would reappear seed quite random since he would close his eyes every ti he used the technique.

"Can you use it while keeping your eyes open? Try to appear right in front of ."

Caliste nodded, having also realized this problem. He kept his eyes open, and with the blink of an eye, he reappeared one centiter away from the butler, a smile on his face.

It had taken one week to grasp this technique, and now that he had done it, it felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. It felt absolutely amazing. It was the first ti in his life that Caliste had struggled to learn sothing, so for him, this was a huge accomplishnt.

"Let’s move on to your first sword technique."

The butler disappeared from his position once again, just like before, before reappearing with a different book in his hands.

He threw it to Caliste with a smile on his face.

[Demonic Blade - Demonic Arts]

[Grade: Five Stars]

"Hey, about the grade of the techniques. What does five stars an in the grand sche of things?"

"It’s the best of the best. There is only one grade above, but those are techniques that I cannot access with my position within the Demonic Army."

Caliste’s eyes widened.

That ant that there were still others within the Demonic Army who were stronger than the butler.

Caliste could hardly believe it, as his strength was already quite sothing to deal with. It only made him realize just how far away he was from the Demon King.

"Who can access the six stars demonic arts?" Caliste asked with a smile on his face as the butler only walked away.
