"Are you sure that you want to fight ?" his brother asked with a smirk on his face.

He knew the position he was in. He knew that he could completely destroy Caliste if he wanted. But the reason Caliste was refusing wasn’t because of ego or anything like that.

It was because he did not want to see the Demon King, not after eting with Liana. There was a chance that he might feel her presence, and that would make things very hard for him in the future. If he was able to sense her presence, then he would also know that she had escaped that place, and then... the chances of Caliste dying would be extrely high.

That’s why he needed to make sure that he would never et with the Demon King anyti soon. He needed to beco stronger before he did that.

Even now, after more than 18 years, Caliste felt like he was much weaker than his past self. From his estimates, he was around 50% of his previous strength. The main reason for that was the curse on his mana circuits, which slowed down his growth significantly.

"Yes."

Caliste had no choice but to fight as he prepared himself, putting himself in a fighting position, his fists tightly clenched while his brother just continued to laugh at him, having the ti of his life.

"Why are you laughing?"

He scoffed. "I just didn’t think my little brother would be that stupid." He shook his head. "Can’t you feel the difference between the two of us? I can literally beat you to a pulp and drag you to him."

Caliste smirked this ti around and said, "Prove it."

He wasn’t planning on going down without a fight.

Then, just as Caliste was about to say another word, his brother vanished from his sight before reappearing right in front of his face.

Thousands of kiloters away, a man stood in front of a small crystal ball showing both Caliste and his brother Canna.

That man was the Demon King. He had been waiting for Caliste to step out of the cave, and right as he did, he imdiately looked for his energy and told Canna to get him since he wanted to have a talk. But now, it seed that the situation had progressed.

’Let’s see how you fight, son...’ the Demon King thought.

He had never paid a lot of attention to it, barely looking at how he fought and his ntality. But this ti around, he would be doing just that. After all, he rembered very clearly how Caliste used to fight one hundred years ago.

Being enemies for such a long ti, he had no choice but to learn most of Caliste’s techniques.

The Demon King slightly leaned forward and began paying attention to every little detail of that fight.

In the Demon King’s castle, Ava and Aleia were sitting peacefully on their couch, the two of them talking with each other.

"You saw him with that elf girl?" Ava asked with a frown. "He got close to her? Are you sure of that?"

Aleia nodded right away. "Yes, mother. I think they were going out with each other. They seed really close."

"But how? Didn’t they hate each other at the dinner back at Ciel?"

Ava was trying to make sense of this situation, but it was getting harder and harder to follow.

"I don’t know what happened, but they definitely don’t hate each other anymore. It’s quite the opposite, in fact."

"Where is he now?" Ava asked, her frown deepening as the seconds passed.

Ava had never said it out loud, but she had absolutely loved every mont spent with her son, and she had cherished them a lot, especially that last day in the bath... that was one of the best mories with her son.

mories that she only wanted her to have. She didn’t want other won to experience just how great Caliste could be.

She frowned as she suddenly stood up from the couch. "Where is he now? I think it’s about ti I go give him a visit!"

Aleia panicked as she also stood up and walked up to her mother. "Calm down, mother. It’s nothing bad; Caliste can do what he wants, right?"

"No. Not when it cos to other won who disrespected us!" Ava shook her head. "I need to have a talk with him. Where was that last place he was spotted?"

Ava was lying through her teeth. The only reason she was saying that was because she wanted an excuse to see her son again. It had been weeks since she had seen him, and she was really starting to miss him.

"I—I think he was in the Dwarven Territory last ti I checked with one of the maids..." Aleia muttered under her breath as she knew that her mother’s presence would only cause problems later down the road. She knew how she was when she wanted sothing... she could go crazy at tis.

"Let’s go right away!" Ava said with a big smile on her face as the face of her son flashed inside her mind. "How long should it take to reach their territory?"

Aleia frowned as she began to think. "Since we’re quite near it, I think we should get there in the next hour at most."

"Perfect~!"

Ava was smiling brightly. She almost looked like a kid right now. She was brimming with energy, knowing that she would finally see her son again. It had been so long, and she had missed him so much... she couldn’t wait to give him a tight hug.

"Oh, you missed. Didn’t you say that you could beat to a pulp?" Caliste said with a smug smile, looking directly into the eyes of his brother, Canna.

Canna only gritted his teeth as he tried to land another punch on Caliste, but he was too fast for him. No matter how hard he tried, it seed like he couldn’t land a hit.

"Tsk. Bla yourself. You’re the one who forced to do this," Canna muttered under his breath as a large influx of energy began to coat his body.

A strong, bloody energy that was very nacing; his black horns also began changing colors, going from black to a dark red. On top of that, large black wings began to form on his back as he flew into the air, looking down toward Caliste.

Caliste had his mouth wide open as he looked at his brother, who had made a full transformation into a demon.

"Haha! You didn’t think that I could transform into a demon?" Canna shook his head. "Don’t tell that you can’t do it~?" His brother teased with a smile. "Right... your horns haven’t even grown yet; you’re a little baby. Well, let show you what a real demon can do."

Caliste didn’t need to be shown. He knew very well what happened when a demon transford like this.

Their strength would not be comparable to before. They would beco two tis, sotis even three tis as strong.

Caliste knew that the situation was serious as even Liana began to feel anxious inside his mind.

’I sure hope you know what you’re doing...’ Liana muttered, blindly trusting her old friend. She had seen firsthand how he managed to turn lost situations around, and she hoped that this would be one of those tis.

With the blink of an eye, Canna teleported in front of Caliste and launched his fists, with the difference that this ti Caliste didn’t have the ti to react.

-Boom!

His fist collided with Caliste’s face, sending him flying dozens of ters back because of the velocity behind that punch.

It was a good thing that Caliste was a demon because if a human had received that punch, he would have struggled to stand back up. His constitution as a demon was far superior, so within seconds, he managed to get back on his feet, albeit a little clumsy.

"Oh, you managed to stand up?" Canna said with a smirk plastered on his face as he disappeared once again. "Not bad. You’re not my brother for no reason, I guess."

Canna disappeared again and reappeared in front of Caliste, delivering another punch that Caliste couldn’t dodge.

He stood up.

Got punched again.

Stood up.

Punched...

"When are you going to give up?" Canna teased with a smile, knowing that this fight was over. There was nothing that could make Caliste win this fight. Canna was superior to him in literally everything.

Liana, who was inside his mind, started to panic as she could feel his heartbeat getting slower by the second.

’Caliste, give up! There’s no point to this fight! The Demon King will never be able to feel my presence.’

However, it was as if her words fell on deaf ears, as he slowly got back on his feet, a black energy slowly leaking from his body.
