Aleia struggled to believe what she was seeing with her own eyes. Her brother was currently in the process of channeling heavenly energy—an energy that had been supposed to completely vanish from the world more than twenty years ago.

Everyone had believed that the heavens were dead.

However, looking at her little brother, it seed everyone had been fooled. They were currently helping a demonic being...

"H-How is that possible?!"

Caliste hadn’t planned on revealing such a thing, especially in front of his sister. But he didn’t have any choice. This mont was one of life or death, and dying wasn’t part of his plan.

Because of how strong the light was, Aleia was forced to close her eyes, completely blinded. Everyone nearby was blinded by such a strong light.

Over at the Elven Castle, Fleur had finally arrived and explained the situation just as they were about to head there.

A piercing light falling from the sky could be seen from far away. The most mind-boggling thing about it was that it was located right where the camp was.

"C-Caliste is in danger! Quick, we need to leave right now!" Fleur called out.

However, her father, who was right next to her, shook his head.

"Let’s wait until their fight is finished. We will only act then. Your stupid friend deserves death for even touching my daughter." Alder looked at the guards behind him. "Capture my daughter and do not let her leave the castle. This is too dangerous for soone like her."

Fleur shouted and cried as she was pulled away inside the castle. However, all her shouts fell on deaf ears as Alder frowned slightly, looking over to the light.

’How is this possible...?’ He could hardly believe what he was seeing. ’Who can use such a strong, pure light?’

Alder had no clue, and the na of Caliste did not even enter his mind since he was a demon. It was known that demons were not pure creatures. They were beings easily tempted by their instincts and emotions, which was the opposite of being pure and just.

Still, he had no words as his jaw dropped to the ground.

Whoever had entered the Elven Forest was extrely powerful. There was no doubt about that.

Over in the skies, very far away, a man was returning from a hefty discussion, a frown on his face.

"That bastard! That bastard of a Demon King! If only Caliste were still around, we’d fucking beat him with our eyes closed!"

It was Luther, coming back from his eting with the Demon King.

He wanted to curse the entire world right now as he could barely see the Elven Forest from where he currently was. Still, based on the speed at which he was going, he would arrive in less than twenty minutes.

Luther would never say it out loud, but he was starting to miss his old friend. He was the only one who could go head-to-head with the Demon King... and that was needed right now. They needed soone who could be respected.

"If only we hadn’t betrayed him..." Luther murmured as he clearly rembered why he had done it. "If only we hadn’t been tempted by power and driven by jealousy."

Luther and most of his friends had been promised power and fa—sothing everyone would desire in exchange for one thing: to betray the hero that held them all together, Caliste.

And while most had never said it, they always felt inferior to Caliste and his strength.

He was simply the perfect human being.

Always fair, always just, he would never make a mistake. There was just nothing that could be said about him.

The world loved him...

But then, just as Luther was about to continue to ramble, a loud sound echoed from the Elven Forest as the clouds in the sky seed to move at the command of a single individual.

-Swooooosh!

Strong winds brushed against his face.

"What the hell is happening?"

Luther rembered that such things had happened in the past. But it had been so long since he had seen a technique like this that he could hardly believe his eyes.

’Is this his technique?’ Luther widened his eyes. ’Soone managed to grasp his technique... after all this ti?! And it’s an elf? Don’t tell ... is it Fleur?’

Then, a strong ray of light fell from the sky, making Luther lose his mind. mories from the past flooded his mind as he could vividly rember Caliste fighting against evil with a white sword in hand—a sword that could destroy everything in his past, a sword blessed by the heavens.

Luther imdiately began flying as fast as he could toward that light. He wanted to see the one who had summoned it with his very eyes.

There was a chance that he would be able to find soone who could face the Demon King... and he wanted to know their identity.

At full speed, Luther would arrive in around five minutes.

***

Caliste could feel the energy coursing through his body. The heavenly energy was clashing with the demonic energy within him. However, this was only normal; Caliste was no longer a human... he was a demon.

’I can’t use the technique as before... I might die if I use it this way. I need to find a way to mix both energies just like Life and Death...’

Because they were opposites, Caliste’s body would have a reaction that was far too strong if he released the technique as it was. He needed to do sothing different.

The heavens had answered his call. But it was now his ti to show that he was worthy of their support.

The white light falling from the sky rapidly began losing its brightness; within seconds, it started to change color. It was no longer white, but gray.

’Just a little more...’ Caliste thought as he tried to force the two energies into one.

They were starting to mix, but they were still not cooperating as Caliste wished.
