Caliste moved sneakily with Fleur as they managed to reach the back of the main tent without being spotted by anyone. Being dressed as one of the heretics made things much easier, as they were not easily noticed since they looked alike.
If they hadn’t captured those two people who had left their camp, things would have been much harder than this.
Still... it was only a matter of ti before they discovered the corpses right outside the ramparts and noticed the disappearances.
In fact, it was already happening.
"Why are Loic and Alek taking so long? They should have been back already," a man guarding the main tent muttered to soone else.
"Mhm... you’re right. The elves have been getting closer to us recently. Though, I don’t think they would have acted so rashly. They’re probably just lazing around or sothing."
The man frowned but didn’t say anything else, only nodding.
Around the main tent, there were five guards. All of them were in front of the entrance; none of them watched the back of it.
However, inside it was an even bigger danger.
There was sothing exuding an extrely large amount of energy, and more importantly, there seed to be a very, very dangerous being inside.
’Is this energy the thing that’s causing all this corruption of the ground and trees?’ Caliste thought, as he had never felt anything like it in the past.
He had never seen anything that caused such damage to nature, especially the Elven Forest, which was known to be extrely pure and resistant to such things.
Caliste quickly told Fleur to stay where she was, as he would be the one taking all the risks.
He moved alongside the tent and finally spotted the first guard.
He was a little further from everyone else, maybe ten ters away. He wasn’t particularly paying attention to anything. He seed quite tired as he kept yawning while staying in the sa spot, completely defenseless.
He was the perfect first victim.
Caliste moved like a ghost as he arrived behind him.
He slid his sword under his throat while dragging him back and putting his hand over his mouth, covering any ambient noise.
Caliste didn’t want to risk using a magic bubble since he knew that those guards were bound to notice the shift in the ambient mana. They were much stronger than those on the outskirts, which made them much more dangerous.
Caliste brought him to the back of the tent and knocked him out without anyone noticing.
Four left.
Caliste moved alongside the tent, knowing the rest of them would be much more difficult to deal with.
All of them were close to one another. He wouldn’t be able to take one of them out; he would have to kill them all at once. However, if he did that, it would alert everyone nearby and the person who was currently inside the tent.
’I’ll have to kill them in one swift strike. If I start fighting them, I will never be able to deal with everyone rushing at .’
Caliste decided to go to the back of the tent and finally asked for so help from Fleur.
He explained the situation briefly, and she nodded.
She would have to take care of two guards while Caliste would deal with the other two.
The two of them moved on their respective sides of the tent, slowly reaching the end of both sides so they could see each other from their positions.
Caliste raised his hand in the air, beginning a countdown.
3...2...1...Go.
Right away, Fleur stood from the ground and ran as fast as she could, trying to hit the back of their heads. But just as her fist reached the back of their heads, she froze in place because of a certain presence.
"Ugh..."
It was a distant echo of a voice.
A man ca out of the main tent with a yawn, stretching his muscles while looking both left and right.
"Ah... seems like we have visitors," he muttered. "Seems like I woke up at the right ti."
Caliste realized that the man had managed to feel their aura from inside the tent, which had made him wake up from his sleep.
’His awareness is on another level... he acts like it was luck, but I’m sure of it. He felt our presence.’
The four guards frowned as they had never felt anyone behind them. However, as they turned around, they saw both Caliste and Fleur on their respective sides.
"S-Sound the alert!" one of the guards imdiately shouted.
However, the man who ca out of the tent just shook his head.
"No need. You can all rest. I’ll be dealing with them."
"S-Sir... please allow ! You don’t need to fight those weak beings! I will deal with them in record ti."
One of the guards seed fairly confident. However, the man, who continued to exude a dangerous aura, just started laughing right in his face.
"They are people you can deal with. Now, move aside and let fight them."
The guards imdiately listened as they walked without wasting another second.
"Ah... before you go. Can one of you give your sword?"
"O-Of course... here you go," one of the heretics said as he bowed before handing the sword over.
The man grabbed it, swung it around himself a little, before nodding with satisfaction. "Should do the trick."
Then, finally, after all this ti, he finally gave so attention to Caliste and Fleur, who were both already under an insane amount of pressure.
Caliste had already felt his energy from a distance, but now that it was focused on him, it was on a whole other level.
’This man is no random person... he’s much stronger than the others.’
"To think that my punishnt would make fight against so interesting young n. I guess it was my fate to et you two."
’Punishnt? So, he was not supposed to be here?’ Caliste thought with a frown, as this fight was starting to feel even harder than he had originally expected.
