Chapter 615: Chapter 615: Expelled from the Xander Family
The crowd turned their heads and saw Elysia Xander stumbling toward them in a disheveled state.
She saw Preston Xander in the crowd and, after calming her mind slightly, said,
“Earlier, all of us were trapped in the barrier. We couldn’t deal with all the living corpses, so we thought to temporarily open the barrier to let people out and then seal it again…”
As Elysia spoke, she bit her lip and said,
“If we had known that the deans and the Family Head, as well as so many elders, would co, we would have held on a bit longer.”
She had just run out not far when she saw those from the Mystical Sect arriving, realizing that rescue had co.
Her previous actions might have been extre, but she originally intended to leave and seek help, so she followed back imdiately.
When Elysia said these words, her face showed guilt, but not deep remorse.
Perhaps if given another chance, she would still make the sa choice.
Ashton Todd exploded with anger upon hearing her words,
“Bullshit!! Don’t you know that once a barrier is opened, it can’t be easily raised again?! You’re just selfish and afraid to die!
You still wanted to drag everyone to die with you! Who is ‘us’ with you?!
From start to finish, it was you, it was you using that damn flag to control and make open the barrier!”
Ashton Todd rarely yelled at a woman so rudely, and as he cursed, he even wanted to kick her.
Fortunately, those around stopped him, and Preston Xander sternly shouted,
“Enough!”
There was a mont of silence around, only Gregory Xander looked at him coldly,
“Ashton Todd has already made it clear, do you still want to defend her?!”
Preston Xander t the cold, unfamiliar gaze of Gregory Xander and inexplicably felt that he was truly losing this son.
Elysia Xander stepped forward at this mont and said,
“Gregory Xander, you don’t need to rush to convict .”
She looked at Preston Xander, stubbornly saying, “I do bear responsibility for today’s events, but I originally just wanted to save myself. No matter what, I’m willing to accept the punishnt from the Family Head and the academy.”
The two deans did not speak, only looking at Preston Xander.
He looked at the disheveled Elysia in front of him, at her trying to act calm yet stubborn, closed his eyes for a mont,
“In that case, leave the Mystical Sect and the Xander Family from now on.”
Preston Xander’s words shocked everyone present, including Elysia.
Especially Elysia, who couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
Preston Xander actually wanted to expel her from the Xander Family!
Just because of today’s incident?!
Why?!
“Family Head Xander! You want to drive away?! You trust others’ words over mine?”
Elysia stared intensely at Preston Xander, her eyes filled with unimaginable reluctance.
Preston Xander, however, looked at her with disappointnt and suddenly raised his hand, and the command flag she had previously dropped instantly ca to his hand.
“I know better than you the function of this command flag…
When I gave you this command flag, it was to let you save yourself, but you used it to betray your sect, almost causing disaster!!”
Seeing the command flag, Elysia’s pupils slightly trembled, and a trace of panic flashed on her face, but she quickly cald down, still dissatisfied,
“At that ti, my spiritual power was exhausted, I wanted to save myself, what’s wrong with that?…”
“You wanted to save yourself, so you could indiscriminately release those living corpses?”
Scarlett Jennings suddenly spoke coldly, looking at her with frosty almond eyes,
“Don’t say you didn’t know what consequences releasing those corpses would cause. Any person with a brain in the Mystical Sect knows.
If you wanted to save yourself, you could’ve set up a barrier in a room and waited for rescue, but you chose the most potentially harmful way for the world.
In the end, you’re just selfish and stupid.”
Elysia’s expression cracked slightly at Scarlett’s scathing words,
“I’m selfish… even if I’m selfish, is that wrong?! Who’s not selfish?! In this world, doesn’t everyone do things for themselves?!”
She paused, suddenly changed her tone, and looked at Preston Xander,
“Even you, Family Head, taking in and raising , diligently cultivating , isn’t it because of your guilty conscience?”
Preston Xander’s soul body slightly trembled at her words, but his expression beca more solemn.
Yet Elysia recklessly accused him,
“Do you think I don’t know? My parents died trying to save you! Raising is just to make up for your guilt… So what wrong have I done?!”
Preston Xander kept a stern face without speaking, and suddenly Elysia kneeled down to him,
“Family Head, I once swore to be your pride, just this once, help , as long as I don’t have to leave the Mystical Sect and the Xander Family, I’m willing to accept any punishnt…”
It was the first ti she lowered herself this much.
She thought that, with her parents’ grace and the Xander Family Head’s years of care, she would surely be forgiven this ti.
And as long as Preston Xander was willing to protect her, with his status in the Mystical Sect, she would still be the proud Elysia Xander.
But this ti, she miscalculated.
Preston Xander looked down at Elysia kneeling before him, gave her a long, deep glance, and slowly spoke,
“Since you know… that your parents died to save , do you know exactly how they died?”
Elysia looked up at him and heard Preston Xander’s heavy voice,
“Seventeen years ago, I, along with your parents and several other Mystical Sect mbers, were trapped in the Cavern of a Thousand Demons. At that ti, countless ghosts were swarming out, and once they escaped, it would have been a disaster for the mortal realm.
All of us set up a grand array to seal the cavern’s exit. Your parents stayed in the barrier as the array eye to complete the barrier and, even if it ant death… they did not open the barrier.”
They could have escaped back then.
But for the people outside the barrier, for the stability of the mortal realm, they stayed inside themselves.
He had indeed felt guilty towards Elysia over the years, but he always hoped to guide her to beco soone with great compassion, like her parents.
Even when he noticed she was sowhat arrogant and conceited, he saw it as a minor flaw, always trying to excuse and redy her behavior.
He allowed her to have her imperfections.
But the prerequisite was that it must not touch principles and fundantals.
Upholding the righteous path of the mortal realm is what the Mystical Sect mbers should and must do.
And judging by her performance in the first major competition and this incident,
her path had already deviated completely.
He could no longer convince himself that she was rely montarily confused.
Upon learning the true cause of her parents’ death, Elysia fell to the ground in despair.
All along, she only knew they had saved Preston Xander in exchange for her current status.
She did not know that back then, they had also faced a similar situation.
The sa predicant, yet a vastly different choice.
Her actions, compared to her parents’, were a bitter irony.
Preston Xander looked at the despondent Elysia for the last ti and said solemnly,
“I hereby, on behalf of the Xander Family and Mountain First Sect, officially expel you from the Mystical Sect. Also, to prevent you from straying down an evil path, I will seal all your spiritual power, and henceforth, you shall never use Mystical Techniques.”
As Preston Xander finished speaking, his fingertips rapidly gathered spiritual light, forming a void talisman.
As Elysia watched his actions, a sudden fear appeared in her eyes, and she instinctively retreated,
“No… no…”
How could he do this to her?
This couldn’t happen!
Even if she was wrong, yet… her parents had also once saved the mortal realm!
How could they do this to her?!
“How can you treat this way, after what my parents did for you?!”
Elysia scread sharply, but this ti, Preston Xander was unmoved.
With a wave of his hand, the rune ford of spiritual light instantly embedded itself into Elysia’s brow…
