Chapter 520: Chapter 520: Her Last Na is Wen

Adam Jennings was initially taken aback, then suddenly turned his head.

“Cough cough…”

He saw Kingston Jennings standing in the hallway not far behind him, his expression sullen but calm. Upon noticing Adam’s glance, he couldn’t help but let out two low coughs.

Adam couldn’t help but glare and then inexplicably felt his ears start to burn.

What followed was a wave of indescribable embarrassnt and anger.

At this mont, if he still didn’t realize Scarlett Jennings was doing it on purpose, he’d be as much of an idiot as Chase Jennings.

He turned his head, gave Scarlett a fierce glare, then decisively lifted his leg and walked away briskly.

Kingston watched him walk away quickly, a dark glimr passing through his eyes, but his expression didn’t change much. He just looked down and typed:

[Why did you deliberately say those things to trick him?]

“Just felt like he cares about you quite a bit,” Scarlett said, pausing for a mont, “it seems like you don’t know.”

Since Kingston ca back, Scarlett hadn’t seen the two brothers speaking, but from Adam’s reaction to Kingston’s matters, his attitude toward Kingston was at least different from that of Michael Jennings, their biological father.

Kingston listened to Scarlett’s words, but his expression remained indifferent,

[He hates .]

He was solitary by nature and mute; having such a brother was sothing shaful to ntion.

Moreover, because of his attitude towards their parents, Adam had been very displeased with him when he was young.

Hating him was sothing Adam said out loud himself.

Scarlett listened to Kingston’s words but was unfazed,

“How soone treats you can’t be judged only by what they say; you need to look at what they do.”

This principle was sothing Scarlett ca to understand gradually after returning to the Jennings Family.

For example, her father had never been good at expressing affection.

And, for another example, the present Kingston.

Though he had shown a goodwill toward her from the beginning, different from Lucas and the other brothers,

Even going so far as to reveal his Power of Word Spirit to help her, Scarlett sotis felt he might not like her that much.

That feeling wasn’t quite hatred, more like…a sense of competition.

Scarlett was sure she had no prior interactions with Kingston, so the only thing that could connect him to her was—

Her mother.

“Did you help today because of my mother?”

She couldn’t think of another reason.

Kingston was a bit surprised by her sharpness, but he didn’t plan to keep hiding it from her.

She had devoted herself to resolving her Child Life, and Kingston wasn’t an ungrateful person.

[I helped you, indeed, because of Aunt.]

Because she was her daughter, that’s why he chose to act at that mont.

He knew if Aunt were still around, she’d definitely want him to do such a thing.

Whether it shortened his lifespan or not didn’t matter much to him.

Because Aunt had once told him that his gifted special abilities must have their purpose.

[You asked before who taught how to be the proxy for the Child, and now I can tell you.]

Scarlett’s mind was stirred when he suddenly brought this up, almost reflexively considering a possibility.

“Was it… my mother?”

Scarlett’s face rarely showed such a dumbfounded look.

She should have guessed; Kingston was so young back then and so frail that ordinary people could hardly get near him, let alone teach him so much.

If that person had always been her caring mother, it would all make sense.

But, it turns out her mother also knew Mystical Sect techniques…

No one in the family had ever ntioned this to her.

Even considering the Jennings Family’s initial attitude toward her mystical abilities, it seed the Jennings Family had no clue about it.

[Yes.]

Kingston typed, saying, [No one in the Jennings Family knows about this, not even Uncle.]

“Why did you suddenly tell this?”

Regarding the mother whom everyone said had passed away, whom she had never t, Scarlett once fantasized but never obsessed over it.

A long ti ago, her master had calculated for her and said her birth mother died early. Scarlett never doubted it.

However, upon hearing Kingston ntion her mother now, Scarlett’s heart inexplicably generated a peculiar thought.

If her mother could see Kingston’s uniqueness at a glance back then, not only using proxy children to dissolve his Child Life but even teaching him how to hold his lifespan by sealing his words,

Then she couldn’t just have a shallow understanding of mystical techniques.

Such a mother, why would she face an untily death at the hands of those who robbed her?

And how could she be used as a tool against misfortune and sent to the Garrison Family?

Scarlett previously assud Solomon was the mastermind behind it all; given his mystical thods, it was normal for ordinary people to be deceived.

But if her mother was also a person of the Mystical Sect, then the affair back then might not have been as simple as her father previously told her.

Scarlett remained mired in her thoughts, and Kingston, observing her, hesitated for half a second before revealing the real reason he sought her out.

[Besides this, I know sothing else about Aunt that even the Jennings don’t know.]

He said,

[You might have heard Uncle ntion your mother was nad Logan, but I suspect that might not be her real na.

I once overheard her murmuring your family’s surna when you were born…her surna was Wen.]

Upon hearing this, Scarlett was montarily stunned, almost instinctively thinking of soone.

When Oliver White brought her a gift today, he ntioned that the person who entrusted him to deliver it had the surna Wen.

Wen again.

She initially thought that Wen might be related to her master, Mr. Wen.

But it turns out that Mr. Wen was soone from her mother’s side?

Or possibly, there was a connection between her master and her mother unknown to her?

For a mont, Scarlett felt her thoughts were racing, her mind quickly crossing through various possibilities, but she soon dismissed them herself.

It didn’t make sense.

But if she wanted to understand the key to this, perhaps she could try finding Mr. Wen.

The information Kingston brought her was too sudden, and Scarlett only rembered soone she almost forgot the next day—

Ava Zimrman.

Ava had been escorted to the Security Bureau for detention by Donovan Jennings last night.

She was involved in harming people with mystical techniques, and this matter itself required the Security Bureau’s intervention.

Scarlett wanted to know Nolan Snyder’s whereabouts and also heard Ava wanted to see her, so she planned to go there the next day.

As a result, as she was approaching the door, Chase Jennings suddenly appeared, watching her. After pondering for a long ti, he couldn’t hold back and said,

“Are you going to see Ava Zimrman? Could you, perhaps, take with you?”

At that mont, Scarlett’s gaze at Chase was suddenly filled with subtlety.

After quite a while, she tentatively asked,

“Still not over it?”

Scarlett thought that if this were the answer, she would really admire Chase.

Chase was first taken aback, then realized and instantly his face changed drastically, combined with an unrestrained frustration!

“Over it?! Am I crazy to still be lit up over her!! No, there was never even anything between us!!”

“You better knock on wood!”
