Chapter 503: Chapter 503: Terrifying Beyond Compare
Chase Jennings hadn’t yet co back to his senses from Scarlett Jennings’ ridiculous proposal when he felt the world spinning around him.
Then, he turned into a robotic vacuum cleaner.
Chase couldn’t believe it, but he couldn’t let out a roar anymore.
Scarlett took him back to the Jennings Family as promised. When the butler saw that she brought ho a robotic vacuum cleaner, he praised her,
“Miss is really thoughtful. I’ve always felt that four robotic vacuum cleaners on the first floor aren’t enough, adding one more is just perfect.”
That day, Chase was assigned a “work area” by the butler.
As a robotic vacuum cleaner, Chase felt like he had returned to the days trapped inside a doll, crying to the heavens and the earth every day without an answer, repeating the uncontrollable routine of cleaning life.
On the first day as a robotic vacuum cleaner, the butler specially praised how clean he swept, saying the vacuum cleaner chosen by Miss was indeed good, then asked him to continue cleaning.
On the tenth day as a robotic vacuum cleaner, he was treated as a mount for that system tortoise. Every ti he set out to clean, the little fox would carry the tortoise in its mouth, drop it on him, and let him roam regularly around the house with the tortoise.
Occasionally, he’d get lucky and bump into the family mbers.
But what he could see were only their toe tips, and the machine’s running rules automatically changed his approach route as soon as he sensed them near.
On the thirtieth day as a robotic vacuum cleaner,
Chase wanted to die.
He forcefully altered the vacuum cleaner’s path, ramming himself into the walls repeatedly.
The family maid heard the noise and ca over to stop him, muttering,
“Why is this vacuum cleaner broken? Should it be replaced?”
The butler also ca over, but upon hearing the maid’s words, he said,
“This was bought by Miss Scarlett, why replace it? Let’s send it for repairs first, maybe it can still be used.”
Chase: …
Unprecedented despair surged toward him like tidal waves,
Chase cried again.
He was wrong.
He thought, if life could restart…
He just wanted to properly be Chase Jennings again.
“Wuuu wuuu wuuu wuuu…”
He let himself cry loudly, allowing the tides of despair to drown him bit by bit until…
Lucas Jennings’ voice faintly ca to his ears,
“Sis, why is my brother crying?”
And then ca Scarlett’s sowhat cool voice,
“Maybe he was moved to tears by his dedicated work.”
Lucas seemingly clicked his tongue in amazent,
“In my brother’s dreams, he understands dedicated work?”
Their voices went from indistinct at first to gradually clear. Following the direction of the voices, Chase struggled, struggled, until he suddenly opened his eyes.
Before him was a room so familiar it seed strange.
Chase stared blankly at it for several seconds, his mind buzzing, as if still stuck at the boundary between reality and dream.
After a long while, he raised his hand and touched his cheek.
There it was damp with tears.
He dabbed a bit and licked it.
Salty,
and sowhat cold.
Beside him, Lucas looked at his actions incredulously, not daring to make a sound, just turning to look at Scarlett, his eyes carrying a hint of fear and unease.
Oh no, oh no, could his brother have turned stupid from the dream?
Only then did Scarlett rise slowly from the small sofa at the far end of the room, walk to the bedside, and quietly regard Chase on the bed.
Only then did Chase see the two people in the room, a sense of unreal shock in his heart. He stared straight at Scarlett before him for a long while, his lips dryly parted, his voice hoarse as he asked her,
“Am I… back?”
Scarlett rely said, “You’ve always been here.”
Chase’s eyelashes trembled, after a long while, he turned to Lucas, “What month is it now?”
Lucas widened his eyes again at this, and looked at Scarlett,
“Oh no, sis, my brother turned stupid from this dream.”
Upon hearing this, Scarlett’s expression didn’t change, she only gazed at Chase for a second, then resolutely said,
“The soul is intact, not stupid.”
Chase’s mouth twitched, the chaos in his mind gradually clearing. He struggled to sit up, feeling exhausted as if he had slept for three days and nights.
He stubbornly asked his earlier question again, until he heard that the day after tomorrow was Scarlett’s birthday, he beca completely stunned.
So, everything he experienced before.
Was just a dream?
But why did that dream feel so real?
Scarlett saw this and didn’t hide it. She straightforwardly removed a talisman paper from his quilt, only saying,
“Everything you experienced in the dream was a dreamscape I created for you.”
She said it, not waiting for Chase to react, and continued,
“Though it was a dreamscape, much of it was born out of reality. You truly underwent the Life Transfer Technique, you were really sched by Ava Zimrman, of course, if you still don’t believe…”
“I believe.”
Chase interrupted her with a hoarse voice, looking at her, his eye corners sowhat red, seemingly wanting to question but fearing his voice might be too loud, would shatter this so-called reality, then return to the dreamscape.
He could only restrain all the emotions in his chest, using an unprecedentedly calm voice, to ask her,
“But why didn’t you just help directly?”
Scarlett looked at him, rely raising an eyebrow slightly, “Why should I?”
Chase looked at her indifferent deanor, opened his mouth, but couldn’t say anything.
“I believe only by making you truly taste the lesson, will you really understand right from wrong.”
Scarlett looked at him, coolly said,
“Chase, this is the last ti I am helping you, not because of any cousin relationship, but because you are Jennings Family, the Life Transfer Technique on you I have already resolved. If you still can’t figure it out and continue to entangle with Ava Zimrman, I won’t be lenient with you anymore.”
After saying this, Scarlett didn’t give Chase another look, turned around and left.
Lucas looked at Scarlett’s back and then at Chase on the bed, after a long while, still advised with a low voice,
“My sister might talk coldly, but she really has been helping you all along. If you are resentful towards her for creating a dreamscape that made you suffer…
Brother, I would really be disappointed in you.”
The last sentence, the young man’s expression was extrely earnest.
Chase stared hard at Lucas before him, just when Lucas thought he was going to start acting out again, Chase suddenly closed his eyes, then his voice was calm,
“Understood, you go out first.”
Lucas was sowhat surprised looking at Chase before him, seeing no special emotions on his face, only then hesitated, and left Chase’s room.
As the door closed, he saw Scarlett standing outside, just about to speak, saw her raise a hand to gesture inside, then signaled him to not speak.
Lucas was first puzzled, but soon, he heard what seed like a suppressed sobbing sound from inside the room.
Lucas widened his eyes, seeming sowhat incredulous.
His brother… cried?
Unable to confirm, listened again.
Then, he leaned on the door, hearing distinctly the sobbing sound from inside the room, initially still suppressed cries, gradually turning into loud, loud cries.
Lucas was dumbfounded.
Looked incredulously at Scarlett.
Brother Chase, since he ca to understanding, never seen a single tear shed from him.
What kind of dreamscape did his sister make for his brother??
Crying awake in the dream and continued crying upon waking up?
Hiss…
Terrifying!
