Chapter 469: Chapter 469: I Also Have the Sa Mark
Scarlett Jennings looked at Samuel Chalrs in front of her, and her heart inexplicably jumped a few beats.
Seeing that he was still staring at her, Scarlett lowered her eyes, thought for a mont, and then extended her left hand, slowly unwrapping the newly bandaged gauze.
“Because I have the sa mark.”
As she spoke, the gauze on Scarlett’s hand was completely removed, revealing a clear wound in her palm, and on the intact part of the palm, there was exactly the sa Peach Wood Mark as Samuel Chalrs.
Samuel looked at her palm as if stunned for a mont.
Although he had asked on purpose.
But he hadn’t expected Scarlett to admit it so straightforwardly.
“Do two identical marks… have any special significance?”
Samuel’s voice was slightly soft, carrying an emotional shift even he wasn’t aware of, and then he saw Scarlett look at him and suddenly nod.
Then, she earnestly said,
“It’s a Protective Mark left by my master. If we encounter danger, we will sense each other.”
She spoke with utmost seriousness,
“The Golden Light on you is unique, and my master left you this mark probably hoping that if you encounter any danger, I can sense it and protect you in ti.
…I just didn’t expect that you would sense first and help .”
Samuel: …
He was too naive.
He actually expected a little liar to confess willingly.
Ha…
“Is it so?”
Samuel’s expression softened a bit, but due to the Golden Light, Scarlett couldn’t see him clearly; upon hearing, she nodded to him again.
She already looked a bit obedient, and with this serious little deanor, ordinary people wouldn’t think she was lying.
There’s no way, she couldn’t bluntly tell him that actually, this is a mark representing a marriage contract.
That would sound like she and her master were setting him up for marriage.
Samuel looked at her, his voice neither cold nor warm,
“When I asked you the first ti, you didn’t tell .”
Scarlett had obviously prepared an excuse,
“I was afraid you’d overthink, after all, two identical marks on our bodies, it’s easy to cause misunderstandings.”
Upon hearing this, Samuel couldn’t help but chuckle coldly twice in his heart, his voice slightly chilly,
“It’s quite easy to cause misunderstandings indeed…”
He paused, seed to deliberately sneer, “Kind of like a marriage contract mark.”
Scarlett suddenly looked at Samuel, her guilt flashed in her eyes, but fortunately, she managed to keep her expression steady.
Not daring to continue with this topic, Scarlett pretended to be a bit tired and indicated she wanted to rest.
Samuel, however, had no intention of leaving, just sat aside and signaled her to do as she liked.
“I’ll leave only when your complexion improves.”
Scarlett couldn’t bear to part with the pure Spiritual Energy surrounding Samuel, so she didn’t suggest he leave, leaned against the bedside, and started to fake sleep.
Originally just putting on a show, but she didn’t expect that her Spiritual Power had been exhausted just trying to help Liora Gold, and chatting with Samuel had drained her remaining energy.
At this mont, she unknowingly tilted her head, closed her eyes, and actually fell into a deep sleep.
Samuel noticed her fatigue, a hint of helplessness in his eyes, yet he still reached out to adjust the corner of her blanket.
His gaze lingered over her palm, his eyes paused slightly.
The wound just unwrapped from the gauze was exposed like that, though it had dicine and was no longer bleeding, it was still unsightly.
Glancing at Scarlett already deep asleep, Samuel suddenly gently lifted her injured palm.
His fingers lightly brushed over the wound in her palm, and the next second, the wound that originally looked sowhat grim eerily vanished, leaving only smooth skin.
Samuel’s expression stayed normal as he wrapped new gauze around her palm for cover.
Finished with this, he looked up to see Liora Gold by Scarlett’s pillow looking at him, clearly having seen his actions.
Samuel calmly glanced at it, then lightly raised his finger, made a silent shushing gesture at his lips.
Casually yet with a hint of command.
Liora Gold instantly stood upright, raising its short arm, mimicking the gesture of zipping its mouth, expressing its obedience and promise not to spill the secret.
Samuel was satisfied.
He left two little paperman to keep watch and got up himself, leaving the room.
Upon reaching the small living room on the second floor, Samuel finally took out his phone and saw the dozen or so missed calls and unread ssages displayed.
After a mont of silence, he dialed back directly.
Soon, Donovan Jennings’s sowhat dangerous voice ca from the other end, “Where’s Scarlett?”
Samuel replied, “She’s asleep.”
From the other end, Donovan Jennings seed to gasp, raising his voice a few pitches, “Next to you?!”
Samuel frowned slightly, looking sowhat perplexed,
“Donovan, what are you thinking?”
Donovan burst into laughter, angered by his serious counter-question,
“You openly whisk soone else’s sister off to sleep at your house and then turn it around to ask what I’m thinking?? What are you thinking?!”
His sister wasn’t without a ho!
The house wasn’t even very far!
What right did Samuel Chalrs have to take her to his place?!
If Donovan weren’t still out and unable to return, he might have stord directly to Chalrs Family.
Hearing Donovan’s already unsettled tone, Samuel didn’t bother arguing further, simply said,
“She was injured a bit, her Spiritual Power exhausted too.”
That sentence successfully cald Donovan on the other end.
Samuel then added, “Staying with , she can recover faster.”
Donovan: …
This sounded strangely familiar.
Although unwilling and not understanding, Donovan knew Samuel wouldn’t lie about such matters.
Perhaps Samuel and his sister really had so special healing aura between them?
Donovan only found out about the incident from the trending news, not knowing the specifics.
Listening to Samuel now, he could only soften his tone, soberly instructing,
“Only this once, take good care of her.”
“Alright.”
Samuel paused, then suddenly cleared his throat,
“You… be sure to inform President Jiang.”
Though he could directly talk to Donovan about keeping her, the prospect of telling Scarlett’s father made even Samuel feel vaguely awkward.
Donovan on the other end almost instantly caught his thoughts, slightly raised his eyebrows, lips curling into a mischievous yet gentle smile, then slowly enunciated,
“You-tell-him-yourself.”
Finished speaking, he abruptly hung up.
Samuel: …
Due to Donovan’s refusal, Samuel had to make the call to Luca Jennings himself, briefly explaining Scarlett’s situation.
Finally hanging up, he saw the butler co over sowhat despondently, holding a tablet, looking at him eagerly.
“What is it?” Samuel raised his brow at the butler.
The butler, unable to say he was disappointed because his champagne rose petals were not used, maintained his professional deanor as a butler, showing Samuel the tablet’s screen,
“Sir, your and Ms. Scarlett’s business has already hit trending. Do you need it taken down?”
Though he thought it unnecessary.
Since Sir and Ms. Jennings seed to have no intention of announcing anything publicly yet, he had to confirm with his master.
Samuel’s gaze slightly narrowed, looking at the trending headline #BrotherInLawSoNice#, after a while, he casually spoke,
“No need to take it down.”
Just leave it there.
