Chapter 45: Chapter 45 The Stubborn Ghost Hard to Persuade Chapter 45: Chapter 45 The Stubborn Ghost Hard to Persuade Lucas Jennings thought that Azura Loomis arranging an online etup would at worst lead to so trendy spot that young girls love or possibly just another shopping spree.

He never expected that the venue they picked would be an abandoned school.

Aside from Spring, there were several other young boys and girls.

It was said they were all acquaintances from the internet, one of whom claid to be a scion of a real estate company, Mr. Houghton.

“This school has been purchased by my father to be planned and rebuilt into a large amusent park. This building, in particular, is being slated for an escape room. It’s still in the planning stage, but we can go inside and play so real-life CS now.”

This Mr. Houghton’s real na was Ansel Houghton, his family had so standing in Sea City. Apart from gaming, he liked exploring all sorts of peculiar amusents in his free ti.

One of these amusents included playing real-life CS gas in schools.

The school had been plagued with incidents since its establishnt, from student suicides by jumping off buildings to ntal breakdowns.

Last year, they even discovered a pregnant underage girl trying to commit suicide on the Heavenly Platform. The confrontation of the school and the parents led to its closure, forcing the governnt to auction it for re-planning.

“I have a friend whose family runs a CS shop, I’ve had them prepare all the necessary equipnt and props. We’ll form two groups for a competition, alright?”

Ansel spoke as his gaze lingered on Azura Loomis.

Among the group, Azura’s presence stood out with her superior composure and charming looks, attracting the attention of several boys just by being there, let alone captivating soone like Ansel with his penchant for fun.

It’s fair to say the entire ga event was organized just for Azura Loomis.

What he hadn’t anticipated was that she would bring a brother along.

Azura Loomis naturally noticed the gazes around her but she didn’t care.

In fact, she had long grown accustod to the attention people gave her; she just smiled to herself and turned her gaze to Lucas Jennings, who hadn’t looked well since they arrived, and asked in concern,

“Lucas, what’s wrong? Aren’t gas your favorite thing?”

But Lucas was in no mood to play.

He looked at the towering building surrounding them, feeling overwheld. In that mont, he felt that Scarlett’s words might have had a point, and doubt began to creep into his mind.

“Why didn’t you tell we were coming to a place like this before we left? I don’t want to play.”

Lucas was always soone with an air of superiority, and even if it were Azura Loomis, he wouldn’t hold back his moodiness when he was displeased.

Azura Loomis listened to his seemingly complaining words and her face imdiately showed a hint of hurt.

“I… I thought you’d enjoy going out to play…”

Seeing her upset, before Lucas could speak, a couple of the guys around them piped up.

“She’s your sister, how can you talk to her like that?”

“If you don’t want to play, then don’t play. Who actually cares?”

Ansel Houghton wasn’t pleased either; his goddess was unhappy, and not even a brother could get away with that.

“Could it be that the little brother is afraid to lose and doesn’t dare to play? How about I arrange for a car to take you ho for a glass of milk?”

The taunting tone in Ansel’s words was unmistakable, and Lucas couldn’t bear it. Sticking out his neck, he retorted,

“I’m afraid of losing?! Bring on the ga! I’ll have you all calling daddy later!”

Lucas had completely forgotten what Scarlett had said, with the sole focus now on making everyone kneel and call him daddy.

When Scarlett Jennings returned from her rented room, it was already nearly dusk. As she was about to step inside her ho, she suddenly felt sothing was off. She pulled out the talisman from her pocket, only to find it had burned to ash.

For the talisman to turn to ash ant the master talisman had also been burned.

Scarlett thought to herself that it was as she expected.

Good intentions can’t prevail over a damn ghost.

Considering that sotis a kid needs a lesson to learn maturity, Scarlett originally didn’t intend to intervene.

But if whatever Lucas had gotten involved with was powerful enough to turn the master talisman she left under his shoe into ash, it wasn’t ordinary trouble.

Most notably, the residual Shadow Energy on the talisman was faintly familiar.

Scarlett thought it over and decided to head out again anyway.

Even if just out of respect for how her uncle and aunt treated her quite well.

Scarlett called her brother Donovan for the contact information of the driver who took Lucas and Azura Loomis out while she quickly walked out of the gate.

Halfway down the road, she spotted a familiar Maybach approaching not far away, with its low-key design, accompanied by the familiar gleam of Golden Light from the car window.

Without a second thought, Scarlett put herself in its path to stop it.

“Boss, oh, no, Mr. Chalrs, can I borrow your car?”

Samuel Chalrs: ….

Did this siblings’ pair actually attach themselves to him?

Yet, as was only natural for Scarlett, she climbed into the back seat of Boss Chalrs’s car, and after identifying the driver who took Lucas, instructed him to head directly to the school.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the abandoned school. After thanking Samuel Chalrs, Scarlett set off towards the school, only to imdiately spot a tower of black energy emanating from one of the abandoned buildings.

She frowned, realizing things were more troubleso than she’d predicted. This level of concentrated Shadow Energy must point to a century-old ghost at the very least.

Yet when she was at the outskirts of the school monts ago, she hadn’t sensed a single thread of it.

Could it be this school was protected by so kind of Barrier?

There was no ti to dwell on it. Scarlett rushed rapidly toward the building.

After stepping inside, she was t with a gusting oppressive presence, Shadow Energy so thick it seed to congeal, rushing from all directions as though attempting to invade her body.

Scarlett casually drew out a Clearing Talisman to pave the way forward, her ears catching a familiar, shrill scream.

“Ghost!!”

It was Lucas’s voice, coming from the fifth floor.

Without thinking, Scarlett sprinted upstairs. To hasten her ascent, she used a Body-Lightening Talisman and, with a few spring-like leaps, reached the fifth floor.

As she stepped into the corridor, she saw Lucas, though he was carrying what seed to be a giant cocoon on his back, frantically sprinting down the opposite han of the corridor.

Chasing him from behind were threads spilling like silken filants, combined with icy, bone-chilling Shadow Energy.

Lucas ran desperately yet felt layers of cold settling over his ankles with each step like he was treading on ice.

As he felt the silken threads closing in behind him, Lucas sensed his doom, but even then, he didn’t relinquish the giant egg on his back.

Regret welled up inside him.

He was regretting it all, so very deeply.

Even though Scarlett had warned him, he chose to go out and et online friends. Not only that, he went straight up onto the Heavenly Platform, and released that thing…

Lucas genuinely wanted to cry.

He wanted to call Scarlett for help, but he couldn’t even rember her phone number.

His vision blurred for a mont. Lucas felt the silvery threads slide across his face, and before he knew it, they had swiftly wound around his neck and ankles.

Fear filled Lucas’s eyes as the threads embedded into his skin. He thought, today, he truly could die.

His tears finally slipped out, and in that mont of despair, a familiar female voice suddenly reached his ears.

Clear and piercing, yet now sounded like a heavenly lody.

“Heavenly Thunder grumbles, Earthly Thunder waxes, above are six Jia, below are six Ding. On Imperial Decree, may Thunder be summoned, strike!”
