Chapter 417: Chapter 417 Mrs. Jiang Fell Ill Again

The principal originally intended to question her about the Dragon God’s Power, but now, it seems there’s no longer a need to ask.

Just because he didn’t plan to ask, however, Scarlett Jennings had questions for him.

Looking at the slender figure standing by the mountain path entrance, the old principal felt a brief mont of nostalgia.

Once upon a ti, soone had also blocked this mountain path, demanding again and again that he agree to her requests.

“I know you want to ask where your ntor is.”

The principal’s words imdiately froze Scarlett Jennings in her tracks. Her lips parted as if to say sothing, but before she could, the elder with the long beard stroked it in a gesture of helplessness.

“I can’t tell you, because that is a karmic matter between you and her. So things can only be revealed by her, in her own words.”

“But I can’t find her,” Scarlett replied.

She couldn’t locate her ntor, nor could she glimpse her own destiny.

Her ntor had told her once that her mother was already dead.

But perhaps, soday, she might reappear.

Scarlett Jennings hadn’t understood the aning of those words at the ti, but when she wanted to ask further, her ntor had already vanished.

“Wait patiently. The people who are ant to appear will always appear,”

the old principal said with a aningful tone.

People from the Mystical Sect always spoke cryptically, leaving things half-said.

Even Scarlett herself would sotis hold back when discussing matters of destiny.

But when the listener beca herself…

Scarlett Jennings almost wanted to challenge him to a fight.

Well, using the principal’s words, that would be called sparring.

However, such thoughts quickly retreated the mont she sensed the rippling spiritual power surrounding the old principal.

Forget it.

She never really expected to get answers simply by asking.

But this trip had confird at least one thing.

The reason she had been abruptly admitted to the Taoism Academy back then was likely due to her ntor’s arrangent.

She had thought it was her own decision to choose the academy, but in reality, it was her ntor who steered her there.

It wasn’t for her to find her ntor.

It was for sothing else entirely.

As for why, Scarlett Jennings had no idea.

Walking along the sunset-lit mountain path, she made her way step by step towards the dormitory.

Just as she reached the Benedict Stone Statue, her bag buzzed with the urgent sound of her phone ringing.

Scarlett glanced at the phone—it was Lucas Jennings calling.

She answered the call, and on the other end, Lucas’s voice was almost impatient.

“Sis! Tomorrow’s the weekend—are you coming ho?”

Scarlett had only returned to the academy less than a week ago and had planned to use the weekend to catch up on overdue assignnts. She wasn’t planning to go ho.

But Lucas’s tone sounded vaguely off.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

“Sothing’s up!” Lucas sounded deliberately restrained but excited. “Sothing big happened at ho—our brother and grandma are acting up again!”

Scarlett raised an eyebrow.

Acting up?

What kind of “acting up” could they be doing?

And then it clicked.

Acting stupid.

But Azura Loomis wasn’t even around—what kind of stupidity could they be engaging in?

Scarlett initially thought about ignoring it all.

Yet… she recalled the freshly distributed family business shares.

Scarlett thought to herself: money truly doesn’t co without strings attached.

“I’ll go back tomorrow,” she said.

Might as well see if Azura Loomis had been captured yet.

With no sign of Azura, Scarlett still felt a faint unease gnawing at her. It was as if she had overlooked sothing important.

And so, the next day, Scarlett Jennings boarded the car sent by the Jennings Family to pick her up.

Accompanying her was Nathan White.

When Nathan had ntioned earlier that he wanted to go back to the Jennings Family with her today, Scarlett had been genuinely stunned.

After all, this was Nathan White.

The Nathan White who was steadfast about not leaving the mountain gate under any circumstances.

Though he claid he was going to “see the old lady for a follow-up check-up,” Scarlett didn’t believe him.

“What’s your real reason?” Scarlett asked.

Nathan looked at her awkwardly before glancing away for a long mont. Finally, in a tiny voice, he admitted,

“The principal… he won’t let build a pet playground…”

And he also ntioned he needed her to help him manage that million dollars.

Nathan usually had no objections to the principal managing the money he received as paynt for treating patients. After all, the principal always purchased whatever Nathan needed.

Nathan himself didn’t care much about money.

But recently, he rembered Dashiell’s words:

“Parents who say they’ll manage your money tend to make it disappear. You’ve got to take charge of your own finances. That way, if your principal decides not to dote on you and refuses to build you a playground, you could still build ten of them yourself!”

Nathan thought about what Dashiell said and felt unexpectedly sad, his round head drooping slightly toward his chest.

“The principal doesn’t dote on .”

Scarlett Jennings: …

This was hard to comnt on.

The car drove for nearly two hours before finally arriving at the Jennings Family estate.

Scarlett stepped out of the vehicle with Nathan only to notice an unfamiliar car parked in the garage.

Though Scarlett wasn’t familiar with every family vehicle, most of them had a familiar feel to her.

Without dwelling on it, Scarlett led Nathan toward the house. But as they passed through the garden, her steps abruptly halted.

She spotted soone—a vaguely familiar stranger.

Azura Loomis’s younger sister, Alice Loomis.

In the garden.

Grandmother Jennings was walking slowly, supported by Alice Loomis and leaning on a cane.

After taking seven or eight steps, the old woman’s face lit up with rare joy.

Beside her, Alice exclaid with surprise,

“Grand-Aunt, you’re amazing! Today you walked three whole steps more than yesterday! By tomorrow, I’m sure you’ll be walking normally!”

Alice’s voice was sweet, and her youthful looks only added to the charm of her praise. Her words imdiately delighted Grandmother Jennings, and for a fleeting mont, Scarlett felt as though she was seeing the exact sa expression her grandmother wore when Azura Loomis used to accompany her.

Scarlett instantly understood why Lucas had been in such a hurry.

This was indeed a case of “acting up.”

And it was a shared family affliction—the chronic stupidity.

Scarlett and Nathan lingered halfway along the path, drawing the attention of Grandmother Jennings and Alice Loomis. When they spotted Scarlett, a hint of stiffness crept into the old woman’s smile. Glancing at Alice, her deanor beca inexplicably awkward.

“Scarlett, you’re back.”

Her voice was cordial but stiff.

Alice Loomis didn’t understand the old lady’s peculiar attitude toward Scarlett, but that didn’t stop her from knowing her own mission.

She was here to take her sister’s place and win over Grandmother Jennings.

Her parents had told her that as long as she could make the old lady happy, she could choose any limited-edition bag or jewelry she wanted.

Alice initially hadn’t wanted to do it, but when her parents detailed all the high-end jewelry and luxury items the Jennings family had provided Azura Loomis before, Alice couldn’t resist being tempted.

She thought: If Azura Loomis could do it, then she certainly could too.

And not only that—she could do it even better.

So, she ca.

Even though her first two attempts had ended with slamd doors in her face, luckily, Grandmother Jennings hadn’t been as ruthless with her as she had been with Alice’s parents. After crying by the Jennings gates for a while, the old lady had relented and allowed her inside.

Within just two days, she had used her skills to make Grandmother Jennings beam with joy.

Despite her age, she prided herself on being smarter than Azura Loomis.

She knew her place and would never foolishly compare herself to soone like Scarlett Jennings, the Jennings Family’s eldest daughter.

Though she still held a small grudge over Scarlett’s refusal to break the spell on her last ti, she carefully refrained from showing that resentnt in front of the old lady.

Alice Loomis kept her sweet smile, gently supporting Grandmother Jennings, and from afar, greeted Scarlett cheerfully,

“Sister Scarlett, you’re back!”
