Chapter 406: Chapter 406 The Temptation Azura Loomis Couldn’t Refuse
Sea University.
Not long after Scarlett Jennings left yesterday, Adam Jennings also returned to campus.
After all, the sester had just started, and the counselor had already asked several tis about when he would be back.
Previously, due to theft in the dormitories, Adam simply moved out and into an apartnt the family had arranged for him near the university.
This day, as he drove into campus and just parked his car, a figure stopped him in his tracks.
Adam took a closer look and recognized the person as Nicholas Woods, a senior who used to be quite close with Azura Loomis.
Nicholas looked at Adam with so concern on his face,
“Adam Jennings, hello. I’m Nicholas Woods. I wanted to ask you, do you know where Azura Loomis has been recently?
Why did I hear this morning that the university canceled her original guaranteed admission? Her records have even been directly sealed.
I want to know if sothing’s happened to her. You’re her brother, aren’t you? You should know sothing, right? My family has so connections in politics; maybe we could help…”
Each word Nicholas said made Adam’s expression darker and darker. When he ntioned being her brother, Adam’s muscles almost twitched in anger as he interrupted him with a gloomy face,
“Who says I’m her brother? Our family has nothing to do with her anymore. Anything involving her, don’t co asking !”
After speaking, he turned and walked away.
It was as if staying for even one more second was an unbearable bad on.
He hadn’t forgotten about the previous roommate of his who got close to Azura Loomis and almost ended up helping her craft so dead person’s ashes into a doll to stuff beneath his pillow.
Adam still felt his scalp tingle every ti he thought about that incident.
Even though Azura Loomis had already been taken away, Adam didn’t want to have anything to do with people connected to her.
Unable to get any information about Azura Loomis from Adam, Nicholas switched his focus to the girl’s dormitory.
Since it was close to class ti, there weren’t many people around the dormitory area.
Nicholas hesitated about whether to change location when he saw a girl hurriedly co out of the dormitory building.
The girl was carrying a canvas bag printed with the logo of the school and departnt, one of the welco gifts for the new students this sester.
He had seen Azura Loomis use one before; it even had a unique charm belonging to her hanging on it.
Seeing that bag, along with the girl carrying it, Nicholas’s eyes nearly lit up. He rushed forward in a few quick steps and stopped her.
“Azura! Is that you?!”
The girl seed startled and looked up, revealing a face that was sallow, coarse, and even sowhat aged.
Nicholas froze montarily, then hurriedly corrected himself,
“Sorry, madam, I mistook you for soone else.”
Being addressed in such a way, the girl’s expression appeared distorted for a mont. Her voice, hoarse and grating, partly through clenched teeth, ca out:
“What… did you call ?”
“Madam…”
Nicholas repeated honestly. In the next instant, he looked more closely at the woman in front of him, and, as if suddenly realizing sothing, his expression froze.
It was as if a possibility dawned on him, and Nicholas’s face changed slightly as he quickly asked,
“Sorry, you look a bit like a friend of mine. Could you be a relative or elder of Azura Loomis?”
Nicholas thought his guess was likely correct.
After all, the woman before him and the Azura he thought of were worlds apart, but their facial features and eye shapes undeniably had similar traits. Coupled with the fact that she carried Azura’s bag, Nicholas assud she might be a fallen relative from her family, helping her with errands.
Confident in his deduction, he had no idea that his words had twisted the expression on the woman’s face nearly beyond recognition.
If not for the desire to avoid making a scene and drawing attention, she would’ve liked nothing more than to roar in fury at Nicholas.
“What elder from Azura Loomis’s family?! I am Azura Loomis!”
That’s right, she was Azura Loomis.
Having lost the system, all the fortune, beauty, and academic brilliance she once obtained overnight disappeared as if they’d never existed.
On top of that, the system had drained her of all fortune, leaving Azura in endless suffering ever since Security Bureau had taken her away.
If not for…
If not for Master Coates choosing her to go find his ntor on his behalf, Azura would never have been able to leave the prison in the Security Bureau.
Although she did manage to get out and avoid the Bureau’s searches with the help of the spirit talisman given to her, finding the ntor he spoke of was impossible for her alone.
Azura wasn’t naive enough to seek help from the Jennings Family after everything that had happened.
The Jennings wouldn’t hesitantly tie her up and deliver her right back to the Bureau.
That family held no sentint for old tis; she had utterly lost faith in them.
As for her biological parents, the Loomis Family, she dared not hope for anything.
Knowing that she had turned against the Jennings Family, they would only be eager to sever ties with her.
Thinking of this, Azura couldn’t help but sneer at herself.
From childhood, she had never been one to enjoy fate’s favor.
Her parents didn’t love her, and she had grown up dependent on others, enduring their moods.
Even when the Jennings Family treated her no differently than Scarlett, it was nothing more than their charity.
Nobody truly cared for her.
She had long hoped she was the true daughter of the Jennings Family.
Perhaps then, none of these things would have happened.
See, destiny was unfair after all.
The appearance of the system had been the first ti in her life she felt cherished by fate.
But in the end, it betrayed her too.
With no one to help her, Azura had no choice but to rely on herself.
First, she needed so money for travel.
The master had promised that once she delivered that item to his ntor personally, the man would not only arrange a new identity and life for her but also help her deal with Scarlett Jennings.
Azura couldn’t resist the temptation.
Especially the latter part.
She hated Scarlett deeply; if it weren’t for her, Azura wouldn’t have landed in her current predicant.
Though she couldn’t take on Scarlett herself, Azura believed there was soone out there who could.
Azura didn’t have any money on her, but she rembered there was so in her dormitory.
Even if there wasn’t much cash, there were plenty of branded bags and pieces of jewelry she could sell at second-hand shops to scrape together enough funds.
Under exigent circumstances, Azura had no choice but to compromise.
She chose to go there during class ti, not expecting to run into Nicholas Woods outside the dorm.
Not only did he call her madam, but he even mistook her for an elder!
She might have fallen a little, but it hadn’t gotten so bad that she looked old!
It was laughable; she had previously regarded Nicholas as an important target to win over, but it turned out he was just blind.
Her heart simred with resentnt, but outwardly she held back.
Changing her strategy, she adopted a guileless deanor and replied,
“I—I’m Azura’s cousin. Azura… had so trouble, so I ca to help her pack up a few things.”
Upon finally hearing so news about Azura, Nicholas’s face instantly showed concern and tension,
“Trouble? What happened to her?”
