Donovan just stood there, his eyes, as enchanting as peach blossoms, fixed intently on their clasped hands.
Facing Donovan’s deep gaze, Samuel remained unfazed and even asked in return, “What are you here for?”
There wasn’t the slightest guilt on his face, and he didn’t even let go of Scarlett’s hand.

When he caught Scarlett’s gaze, he didn’t show the warning and danger he reserved for Samuel, only undisguised concern.
“What’s with this? Lucas said you weren’t feeling well? Why didn’t you call a doctor?”
“I’m fine now,” Scarlett replied, shaking her hand towards Samuel. “Thanks to Samuel’s help.”
Donovan pursed his lips, thinking what kind of help Samuel could offer that he, as a brother, could not.
Scarlett didn’t elaborate further, shaking her hand again, and tucked away the Jade Token she was holding. She noticed there were faint cracks on it, her brows showing a hint of gravity.
The butler saw this and imdiately stepped forward to help pick up the jade pieces on the ground for her.
When Donovan saw the items laid out on the floor, he sensed that today’s events might not be as simple as they appeared. But since Scarlett didn’t explain, he didn’t press her.
“Let’s go ho, you don’t look well and need to rest,” Donovan said, pulling her along without waiting for an answer and gave Samuel a glare as they left.
