The little paperman had no eyes, but observing its actions, one could feel its gaze at this mont.

To be precise, Gregory Xander was sensing the person in front of him through the little paperman, using his consciousness.

It stood dumbly and looked around for a while, taking in the bright room and the running air conditioner.

The little paperman tilted its head thoughtfully, jumped onto the nearby quilt, and painstakingly pulled up a corner to cover Ariel Zimrman.

Then it jumped to the other side, pulled up the other corner of the quilt, and covered her legs.

After confirming the quilt was properly covering her, the little paperman jumped lightly, landed on the air conditioner’s control panel, and tapped a couple of keys to adjust the temperature to a suitable level.

Lastly, it turned off the main light in the room, leaving only a small night lamp.

After doing all this, the little paperman finally seed satisfied, clapping its hands before returning to the bedside. In the next second, as if its spiritual power had been instantly drained, the once agile little paperman collapsed softly onto the ground beside the bed, turning back into an ordinary paper figure.

anwhile, on the hotel’s upper floor.

Gregory Xander sat cross-legged on the window seat, severing the spell in his hand, completely disconnecting from the perception of the little paperman.

Keeping her unaware of the situation and allowing her to carry his little paperman with her was already inappropriate, and maintaining the connection further would undoubtedly be taking unfair advantage of her.

Gregory’s upbringing did not permit him to engage in such rude and impolite behavior.

Originally, he planned to disconnect from the little paperman as soon as he left the filming crew.

Yet at that mont, he heard her calling his na.

"Gregory Xander can’t belong to , but he also shouldn’t belong to anyone else!"

Gregory couldn’t quite describe the feeling.

Though the words should have been sowhat repulsive, he felt no discomfort whatsoever.

In fact, he was slightly pleased with her attitude.

Did it an she didn’t intend to cut ties with him for good?

If he sincerely apologized to her one more ti, showing his true intentions, would she no longer hold his past absence against him?

Reflecting on this, Gregory’s brows relaxed with a subtle delight he didn’t realize himself.

Due to this small thought, he didn’t imdiately cut off the connection with the little paperman.

Until...

She sought out Scarlett Jennings, asking her to arrange work for him so he could leave.

Gregory inexplicably felt a sinking sensation in his heart.

It turned out that she still didn’t welco him.

She even consulted Scarlett to ensure he stayed far away from her.

Gregory thought perhaps he shouldn’t persist in staying.

Staying would neither earn her forgiveness for his previous absence nor disturb her work, causing her inconvenience.

Gregory finally realized just how disrespectful his actions had been over the past few days.

Hence, he utterly severed his connection with the little paperman and decided not to entangle with her anymore.

"It’s ti to leave."

Gregory murmured, his gaze unconsciously shifting.

On the clean and tidy glass table beside him, a cartoon figure of Ariel Zimrman quietly stood.

It was the figure he had taken from the cake, her figurine.

Later, he cleaned it and carried it with him, still unsure whether to return it to her...

*

That night, soone sat in the darkness, sleepless through the night.

anwhile, Ariel Zimrman woke up in the middle of the night, realizing she hadn’t removed her makeup yet. Despite her fatigue, she persisted in getting up from bed.

Yet the mont she sat up, she looked at the dim room in confusion.

Was the room’s light like this before she fell asleep?

She also noticed the quilt covering her and the noticeably increased temperature...

Ariel couldn’t help but ssage her assistant—

"Did you co and cover with the quilt?"

To prevent oversleeping in the morning, her assistant had a backup room keycard, but typically the assistant wouldn’t enter her room without notice.

Half-asleep, she sent the ssage and was about to ask why her assistant didn’t help her remove her makeup or wake her up to clean things up.

But before she could send the ssage, her late-night assistant had already replied.

"Nope."

The three words jolted Ariel awake instantly.

It wasn’t her!

Then what was happening in her room?

Ariel naturally didn’t consider Gregory Xander.

As soone who had once been haunted by a Shadow Ghost, Ariel was quick to realize sothing was amiss.

Surveying the room, she felt an inexplicable sense of nace and dread.

Shivering slightly, Ariel cautiously reached for the Blessing Bag holding her Amulet tucked against her chest.

Even though it was Scarlett who gave her the Amulet, when Ariel held the Blessing Bag, she instinctively called out—

"Gregory Xander..."

Where are you?

Despite her trembling voice, near the bedside, the little paperman made from the Yellow Talisman lay quietly.

Now disconnected, the little paperman could no longer transmit Ariel’s call to its owner.

A chaotic night passed.

Ariel stood up expressionlessly as her assistant knocked on the door promptly.

Upon awakening, Ariel realized it was just her overactive imagination.

Yet before sleep, she tightly clutched her phone, with the interface open was Gregory Xander’s chat box.

She had removed him from the blacklist, but she never sent him a ssage.

During filming, Ariel hesitated whether to ask Gregory Xander for help to check her room for any unwelco presence.

But she couldn’t bring herself to approach him.

Little did she know, while she was back to shooting, in the hotel, Gregory Xander was already completing the checkout process.

With the earliest high-speed train ticket booked, Gregory Xander boarded the car heading towards the train station.

Observing the retreating scenery outside, his hand subconsciously brought up the chat page with Ariel Zimrman.

Though blacklisted, he could still see their past chat history.

Scroll upwards, Gregory Xander saw all kinds of ssages Ariel sent him.

From what she ate, her moods, to her new makeup, fresh gossip, she always shared her updates with him.

His responses were brief, sotis non-existent.

Reviewing those chats, Gregory Xander found them unfamiliar.

Was he like this back then?

In her eyes, had he always been so cold and distant?

Were her ssages t with his silence, leaving her feeling...disappointed?

His heart began to feel heavy again, almost as if being clenched tightly.

After a pause, Gregory Xander brought up the keyboard.

Knowing she might not receive it, he still wanted to say sothing.

At the very least...he shouldn’t leave without a word.

Reminding himself that it was the courtesy of a friend, Gregory finally typed in the chat box.

Telling her he was leaving today and assuring her that he wouldn’t bother her anymore, and if she was still willing to consider him a friend, next ti he would treat her to a al.

Unconsciously typing a long ssage.

Gregory Xander frowned at it, deleting and editing, leaving only three words.

"I’m leaving."

Sending the ssage.

As he was about to exit the chat page, he unexpectedly noticed that the red exclamation mark didn’t appear!

She removed him from the blacklist!

His eyes involuntarily brightening, Gregory Xander quickly typed.

"You didn’t blacklist ?"

Though it seed like an obvious question, he still sent it.

Almost simultaneously, a voice call request from Ariel Zimrman suddenly appeared.

Gregory was taken aback, a rare mont of fluster, he hurriedly answered, ready to speak but hearing another girl’s voice on the other end—

"Xander!! You need to co quickly, Ariel is in trouble!"
