Capítulo 1215: Chapter 1215: Extra Story: Is Kingston Jennings Becoming a Monk Too?
Kingston Jennings looked at the Abbott but didn’t speak.
The two were about to follow the Abbott inside when Michael Jennings, feeling ignored, inexplicably beca anxious and hastily called out,
“Kingston! Stop right there!”
He originally wanted to call out to Scarlett Jennings, but recalling the days of being treated like a fool, he restrained himself.
It was awkward to call out to his niece, but Kingston, being his own son, he shouted at him with confidence.
Kingston Jennings halted his steps, turned to look at Michael Jennings, but still said nothing, evidently waiting for the other side to speak.
The Abbott glanced at Kingston, then at Michael Jennings, suddenly asking,
“Is he a practitioner here at the temple?”
Michael Jennings, seeing the Abbott ask, found it inappropriate to say he no longer wished to beco a monk in front of the two young ones, so he bit his lip and said,
“Abbott, I ca here to beco a monk.”
The Abbott then looked at a temple monk nearby, responsible for receiving short-term practitioners.
The latter pursed his lips, silently agreeing, but his gaze carried a certain depth of aning.
Others didn’t understand, but the Abbott did.
It ant the person’s devotion to Buddha wasn’t sincere enough.
Three to five days of ditation is likely the limit.
The Abbott knew this but didn’t express it, only saying,
“Sotis the practice doesn’t yield results, not because you’re not sincere, but simply due to a lack of Buddhist affinity; whether to truly beco a monk, there’s no rush to decide.”
As he spoke, the Abbott paused, then suddenly looked at Kingston Jennings,
“This gentleman seems to have deep Buddhist affinity, would you be interested in practicing at the temple for a period?”
From the mont Kingston t him, he hadn’t spoken. Now, seeing the Abbott suddenly address him, he was initially taken aback but adeptly took out his phone and replied,
[Thank you, Abbott, but I have no intention of practicing.]
Hearing the electronic voice from the phone, the Abbott wasn’t offended; instead, his eyes brightened.
“Your Fate Chart is unique, coupled with practicing silent ditation, you are naturally connected with Buddha; joining Buddha Gate could be beneficial for your future longevity.”
The Abbott wasn’t just an ordinary abbot; he was a Buddhist Practitioner, thus recognizing at first sight the young man’s Child Life Fate Chart.
Knowing he practiced silent ditation made him even more pleased.
Michael Jennings didn’t expect the one intending to beco a monk was himself, but the other side had taken an interest in his son.
Though he felt gloomy, thinking of Kingston’s situation, he still said,
“Kingston, since the Abbott suggested, you might consider joining in ditation at the temple.”
Michael Jennings wasn’t apathetic about Kingston’s future; he cared even less for this eldest son, but didn’t truly wish to see him die young.
Since the Abbott ntioned entering Buddha Gate for his longevity, perhaps this was the right path for him.
The family certainly wouldn’t oppose.
In saying this, it seed like he, the father, inadvertently saved the eldest son.
Thinking this, Michael Jennings felt his decision to beco a monk, regardless of the outco, was indeed beneficial.
Concerning Kingston Jennings’s future, Scarlett didn’t imdiately speak.
As the Abbott said, Kingston entering Buddha Gate would indeed aid his longevity.
But she never ntioned it, firstly due to her unfamiliarity with Buddhism, and secondly because she never sensed any interest in Buddhism from Kingston.
Sure enough, Kingston was indifferent to the Abbott’s words; only when hearing Michael Jennings did he slightly furrow his brow and lowered his head, about to type a reply, when suddenly ca an urgent shout from behind,
“My brother won’t beco a monk!”
It was Adam Jennings who appeared from nowhere, rushing forward to grab Kingston and pulling him away from Michael Jennings and the Abbott.
Initially curious about Scarlett and Kingston’s solitary outing yet embarrassed to say he wanted to join, he covertly followed.
Now he was grateful for sneaking along!
He never expected the Abbott of Temple of Origin would suggest Kingston entering Buddha Gate, but without considering Kingston’s thoughts, Michael Jennings’s direct persuasion for Kingston to beco a monk truly irritated him.
Even if muddle-headedly chaotic himself, dragging Kingston into it was intolerable.
Letting the biological son beco a monk — how does this qualify as a father?!
Adam’s gaze was both fierce and wary, protecting Kingston as if soone wanted to harm him, instantly rousing Michael Jennings’s anger,
“What kind of look is that?!”
Adam didn’t respond, only repeating, “My brother won’t beco a monk; if you want to beco one, do it yourself, don’t drag him into it.”
Michael Jennings, hearing his only close son indulgently allowing him to beco a monk, imdiately grew even angrier, pointing at him and chastising,
“What are you saying?! I’m his father, would I ever harm him?! It’s all for his own good!”
“When have you ever treated him well?!”
The mont Adam shouted those words, it seed the entire temple fell silent for a mont, and Michael Jennings looked at his son in disbelief.
He… is he criticizing him as a father?
He truly wasn’t that attentive to Kingston as a son, but he certainly wouldn’t harm him!
Could it be Adam thought of him this way?
Michael Jennings was genuinely saddened by this.
Compared to the eldest and youngest, he might not have been a great dad, but he was definitely not a bad one!
“You… you…” Michael Jennings stamred, unable to speak.
Scarlett and the Abbott didn’t interject.
And Kingston, shielded by Adam, listened to Adam’s shout and observed his current angry deanor, stunned for a while before reaching out to tug on Adam’s grasping hand.
Adam shivered, turning to look at Kingston,
“Kingston, you don’t intend to beco a monk, do you?”
Comparatively, his gleaming defense against Michael Jennings was now tinged with anxiety at addressing Kingston, faintly resembling a fearful animal afraid of abandonnt.
Adam’s feelings toward Kingston were always complex; when had he clearly exhibited dependence on this brother?
Perhaps during parental divorce, mother’s departure to another country, and father’s unreliability.
He realized, the closest family mbers seed to be only Kingston and Isria Jennings.
Isria was young, often needing care, whereas Kingston… was his brother, his only blood brother.
He knew what dad said might be right.
If letting Kingston beco a monk truly could ensure his future longevity, then it would be beneficial for Kingston.
But…
They say entering Buddha Gate ans renouncing worldly ties; once Kingston joined Buddha Gate, would he still be his brother?
They say Buddha Gate seeks tranquility; Kingston’s previous life at the sanatorium was tranquil enough — finally, seeing more vitality in him, would becoming a monk lead to solitary ditation once more?
Adam knew this was wrong, but he simply didn’t want it.
He didn’t want Kingston to live that way.
Scarlett had said, as long as Kingston didn’t speak, his longevity wouldn’t be impacted, so couldn’t he just continue not talking?
He mulled over it, his gaze becoming more stubborn, and Kingston watched him for a mont before suddenly patting his hand, then bowed his head to type.
[I’m not becoming a monk.]
Once he typed this, Kingston turned again towards the Abbott, releasing the remaining sentence.
He said,
[Thank you, Abbott, but my brother doesn’t wish for to enter Buddha Gate, and I… can’t let go of my family ties, so I’m not joining.]
