On the other side of Sea City.
At the Sea City Taoist Academy, Ashton Todd was intently staring at the four arrays before him.
Previously, because Scarlett Jennings was unconscious, Ashton Todd couldn’t help and had to return to the Taoist Academy to continue his research.
Then, as the spiritual power within the Ten-tailed Realm spilled out following Scarlett Jennings’ returning consciousness, the arrays in front of Ashton Todd suddenly reacted.
Ashton Todd almost imdiately made a move, quickly connecting his spirit and spiritual power to the four arrays, and focused on their situation.
After a while, Ashton Todd once again captured a trace of the Boundary Breaking anomaly, without hesitation, he reached out and grabbed the center of one of the arrays.
In the next second, he held an object in his hand.
Upon seeing what was on the object, Ashton Todd beca excited once again.
"I knew it! I knew this was feasible!"
He paced back and forth with the object in hand, his expression showing apparent eagerness,
"It’s been over a day, Scarlett should be waking up by now, right?"
He was already impatient to share this matter with Scarlett.
Ashton Todd continued to pace around, when suddenly a pine cone hit him on the head.
Turning his head, he saw it was Stella Gibson.
She was sitting on a tree branch of an ancient tree outside, precisely at the position of the window, while Greta stood behind her, standing on the branch as if it were solid ground.
Stella Gibson asked him,
"Why are you pacing around in the academy?"
Upon seeing Stella Gibson, Ashton Todd’s eyes lit up, and he imdiately moved to the window,
"My research on magic has succeeded! Now that you’re here, accompany down the mountain tomorrow to see Scarlett. I have to share my major discovery with her!"
Stella Gibson looked at him,
"Do you want to share your major discovery with Scarlett, or are you trying to redeem the new dormitory block at the welfare center that she promised you before?"
"Of course I’m here to share!"
Ashton Todd said confidently, clearing his throat as a cover, then continued, "And while I’m at it, I’ll ask about the dormitory block."
Stella Gibson jumped from outside into the room and grabbed Ashton Todd, ready to hit him.
"Scarlett just developed the ten tails and solved the Shu’e problem. She’s still recovering; don’t bother her!"
"I didn’t plan to bother her! What I discovered is really important!"
"Anyway, you’re not allowed to go, and if you dare, I’ll tell the dean and have you move out of the academy dormitory!"
Stella Gibson didn’t forget to complain as she spoke,
"You’ve already graduated early and are still occupying the academy dormitory! How shaless! Don’t say Brother White also has a dormitory; Brother White grew up in the academy by birth!"
When Ashton Todd heard her say she’d find the dean, he imdiately stopped running,
"Do you, do you know how expensive it is to rent a normal place in Sea City? You can rent an academy room for a year for five hundred bucks; you’d be a fool not to stay!"
"You’re the fool, a big fool!"
They suddenly started arguing.
Outside, Greta seed accustod to this situation. She bent her knees slightly, then sat down on the branch where Stella Gibson had been sitting.
Then, she took out a phone from her pocket and sat upright, seriously scrolling through it.
...
That night, Scarlett Jennings and several others hurried back to the Jennings Family from the Hearne Tribe’s territory.
Originally, they had co to check on Hannah Hearne’s situation, but now that they had confird she was okay, they naturally needed to return to the Jennings Family to prevent them from worrying.
Though the Capital tropolitan and Sea City were far apart, traversing the distance with the Ten-tailed Realm took only an instant.
Old Sir Jiang and the other mbers of the Jennings Family had already heard from Donovan Jennings and the others about Scarlett Jennings’ recovery.
Knowing they had returned, despite the late hour, they changed clothes and went downstairs.
Their gaze swept over Scarlett and those standing beside her, Magnolia Hearne and Samuel Chalrs, and then looked towards the emptiness behind them, with a strange hint of light in their eyes.
Magnolia Hearne, a bit puzzled, heard Grandma Jiang speak up from the side,
"Ahua said your mother ca with you. It’s so late; why didn’t you bring her back ho?"
Grandma Jiang didn’t know where Scarlett Jennings and the others had been, only assuming they had been out and co back, naturally thinking Magnolia Hearne’s mother was still in Sea City, only staying elsewhere due to the late hour.
Upon hearing ntion of Emily Hearne, there was evident surprise among them.
After all, they had hardly t, and given Emily Hearne’s special status, no one linked her to the Jennings Family.
Magnolia Hearne paused for half a second before straightforwardly explaining,
"My mother returned to the Capital tropolitan."
"She went back?!"
Grandma Jiang was visibly taken aback, her voice full of surprise,
"Didn’t she just arrive in Sea City tonight? Why would she return so soon?"
She had co all the way, and yet left without even a proper greeting with their in-laws. This was...
Old Sir Jiang, noticing the hint of dissatisfaction between Grandma Jiang’s brows, interrupted,
"The in-law ca because of Scarlett, now that Scarlett is fine, it’s normal to return."
Old Sir Jiang remained quite composed, saying,
"There will always be opportunities to et."
As Old Sir Jiang referred to them as in-laws, both Magnolia Hearne and Scarlett Jennings understood why he and Grandma Jiang had dressed up so late for a guest.
They exchanged glances, sowhat at a loss.
Previously, due to the tense relationship between Magnolia and Emily Hearne, and Aaron Hearne already having co as "family", no one at the Jennings expected to et Magnolia’s true family elder.
If it hadn’t been for Donovan Jennings’ ntion tonight, Old Sir Jiang and the others might not have thought of it at all.
But since the subject had been brought up, the Jennings naturally would want to show so hospitality.
They didn’t want anyone thinking Magnolia Hearne wasn’t valued at their household.
While they might have expected not to et tonight due to the late hour, they hadn’t counted on one choosing to leave overnight...
Noticing Old Sir Jiang’s underlying desire to et, Magnolia Hearne was about to explain when Luca Jennings stepped forward, speaking,
"Magnolia’s maternal family recently had so issues; if it weren’t for Scarlett, they wouldn’t have co. Now that Scarlett is fine, dealing with family matters takes precedence. There’s no urgency to et; I’ll arrange an opportunity after consulting with my mother-in-law."
So things could sound dismissive coming from Magnolia Hearne, but Luca Jennings had a different effect.
He didn’t want Magnolia to feel troubled.
He also saw no rush in arranging a eting between their elders.
After all, he had already t his mother-in-law.
Since Luca Jennings reassured them, Old Sir Jiang and the others had no further objections.
However, as they were departing, Grandma Jiang couldn’t help but mutter softly,
"This in-law is very elusive. The marriage has been quite so ti, yet if Ahua hadn’t ntioned it this ti, I would’ve thought she only had a brother at ho..."
Grandma Jiang’s voice was low, but the half-demon’s hearing was acute.
Magnolia Hearne listened to Grandma Jiang’s words, feeling an unspeakable complexity, contemplating whether to ask her mother about the elders’ formal eting...
What Magnolia Hearne didn’t anticipate was that she was still hesitating over whether to bring it up.
The next morning, Emily Hearne, who had returned to the Capital tropolitan the previous night, surprisingly donned a new outfit and formally visited.
