Chapter 1115: Chapter 1115: Borrowing the Underworld’s Path Again

Ashton Todd had no idea sothing had gone wrong on this side of the Hearne Tribe territory.

His main purpose for this trip was to decipher the array in the lake and discover sothing powerful, intending to tell Scarlett Jennings as soon as possible.

As it happened, Dashiell was out to chase soone, so he hitched a ride on the dragon.

He intended to share his discovery with Scarlett Jennings, but upon landing, he realized Scarlett’s situation seed more urgent than his.

“An Ancient Barrier?”

Ashton Todd couldn’t help but swallow hard.

Did his companions have too much faith in him?

Even if he could help with research, it’s not sothing that can be figured out quickly.

Besides!

“We can’t even touch this barrier, how are we supposed to study it…”

Ashton Todd recognized the mountain ahead, but no matter how they circled it, they couldn’t detect any traces of people from the Hearne Tribe territory.

The territory seed less isolated and more like it had been moved entirely into another space.

Considering this, a thought flashed in Ashton Todd’s mind, and Samuel Chalrs suddenly spoke up from beside him,

“Regarding the array of this Ancient Barrier, I might rember sothing.”

Speaking as he cast a quick shape of the array in the void with Golden Light.

Perhaps because he had interacted with Damian Carlson from six thousand years ago and personally witnessed Damian’s demise and his own rebirth, Samuel Chalrs’ Divine Soul had acquired so ancient knowledge upon returning to the Dragon Vein’s body.

This included the array.

Scarlett Jennings had heard Samuel Chalrs talk about inheriting such knowledge before, so while she wasn’t too surprised, her gaze did flicker briefly.

Because she did not possess any inheritance.

She hadn’t even achieved Ten-tailed, let alone any legacy from Althea.

But such matters were not crucial for the current situation.

Ashton Todd was already fervently fixated on the array shape Samuel Chalrs was crafting in the void.

And the more he looked, the more familiar it seed.

“Huh?”

This thing seed sowhat similar to the Otherworld-connecting array he had just deciphered.

However, it was only a bit similar, and really cracking it was quite difficult, not sothing he could promise lightly.

Scarlett Jennings, hearing his “huh” just now, turned to look his way, and upon seeing the change in his eyes, she pitched him an offer,

“Three million, help .”

At these words, Ashton Todd’s eyes lit up suddenly, but since he was no longer the inexperienced kid he once was, though tempted, he didn’t agree outright,

“It’s not about the money…”

Without wasting words, Scarlett Jennings upped the offer,

“Plus a new dormitory for the welfare institution.”

Ashton Todd’s eyebrows shot up promptly, with righteous indignation,

“Given our relationship, I must help even if it kills ! You wait, I’ve already got Inspiration.”

When Ashton Todd claid he had Inspiration, he truly did.

Scarlett Jennings originally thought it would take at least a few days of effort, yet surprisingly, Ashton found her within a day.

“This Ancient Barrier is indeed perfect; outwardly simple, yet extrely intricate, its array logic even has no apparent flaws…”

With panda eyes but incredibly bright pupils, Ashton Todd praised it for nearly a minute straight, noticing Scarlett Jennings was losing patience, before moving onto the key point,

“The array itself is intended to save lives in critical monts, harboring over ten thousand years of demonic power from the Hearne Clan within; forcibly breaking it from the outside is almost impossible, that route is a dead end, I suggest abandoning it.”

Scarlett Jennings heard his words but still saw the brilliance in his eyes, knowing he surely had another solution,

“So there’s another way?”

Well-pleased with how well his companion understood him, Ashton Todd didn’t keep her in suspense, pointing to a part of his drawn array diagram,

“It’s here; this spot can create a spatial reaction. I’ve compared it with the tribal distribution map given by Cassian Wolf; this position should correlate to your clan’s Soul Tree.”

Ashton Todd elaborated,

“You ntioned before going to another space via the Soul Tree, then returning here with the Underworld’s Fusang branch, aning the Fusang branch and Soul Tree must also be connected. By establishing a link through the array, we could directly borrow a passage from the Underworld to enter the barrier.”

Of course, the premise being soone in the Underworld must offer them a passage once more.

Upon hearing Ashton Todd’s plan, Scarlett Jennings rely asked him,

“How confident are you?”

Ashton Todd held back a bit, “I’d say seventy to eighty percent, mainly since parts of the array I’ve cracked are similar, saving quite a bit of ti.”

Originally, Ashton Todd intended to surprise her with another discovery, but seeing she wasn’t in the mood, he opted to keep it to himself for now.

With assurance from Ashton Todd, Scarlett Jennings imdiately got in touch with Ivan.

After the last passage borrowing from the Underworld, Ivan visited her and Samuel Chalrs once; by then, Ivan had moved past the events of six thousand years ago, appearing the sa as she rembered.

Unexpectedly needing his help again so soon, Ivan was accommodating and led Scarlett Jennings and her companions yet another ti to the Underworld.

With the Underworld Pass in hand, traversing the Underworld wasn’t tough; the difficult part was borrowing the Fusang branch.

After all, it was deed a law tree of the Underworld and couldn’t be casually lent out.

Last ti, it was purely due to Ivan’s standing as the forr Lord Yama.

Indeed, when finding the group seeking favor from the Underworld, Lord Yama Zaraiah’s naturally stern face deepened in coldness.

“Hundred-yearly Gathering Soul from the Underworld Fusang branch; the last passage granted you was an exception. Now only days have passed…”

Scarlett Jennings knew this Lord Yama would be difficult to sway, she had thus prepared adequate compensation in advance, but before she could speak, Ivan calmly interjected,

“Would you lend it or not?”

Facing Ivan, Zaraiah remained silent for two seconds, then shifted her gaze back to her desk and simply said,

“I know nothing.”

A direct concession would harm the dignified stature of the Underworld Lord Yama, but under the guise of ignorance if one were to force their way through, it wouldn’t be his concern.

Scarlett Jennings and the others clearly understood.

They bid farewell promptly, heading toward the Oblivion River.

Having traversed once before, the area was familiar, only this ti without Yama himself rowing for them.

Assuming Ivan would lead the way again, they didn’t expect after seeing them off from King Yama’s Palace, Ivan returned alone.

Encountering Zaraiah, Ivan raised a slight brow,

“I assud you’d hold your ground.”

Arriving prepared to leverage his forr Lord Yama status for pressure, Ivan found Zaraiah’s concession surprisingly quick.

Though not explicitly agreeing, it was a soft reply nonetheless.

Seeing Ivan’s sly eyes filled with curiosity, Zaraiah didn’t hide the matter.

“Four hundred years ago, there was once a Nine-tailed Fox who stord the Underworld, intent on retrieving a person’s soul.”

Zaraiah stated, “I didn’t acquiesce.”

So this ti, consider it belonging to that fox’s debt.
