Nan Yu bit her lower lip lightly, her body trembling slightly.
"Because that year, my ntor died in an accident."
Huo Juanyan imdiately recalled Nan Yu investigating Gu Chuxin.
Nan Yu continued: "That year, I completed the task my ntor gave , and I wanted to go back to tell him that I had successfully graduated."
"But at that ti, there was a major accident in City C that urgently needed doctors. Despite my ntor’s objections, I insisted on going to City C to practice dicine."
"By the ti I returned from City C, I learned that my ntor had died."
She didn’t even get to see her ntor one last ti—only his cold tombstone.
Huo Juanyan felt Nan Yu’s anguish and slowly extended his hand, gently placing it on the back of Nan Yu’s hand for comfort.
"Nan Yu, I will help you uncover the truth behind your ntor’s death. I will give you closure."
Nan Yu lifted her tear-filled face and slowly looked at Huo Juanyan.
"Thank you."
Their hands intertwined, neither letting go.
Until Xia Xing’s voice ca from the doorway.
"President Huo, is the treatnt over? May I co in?"
Breaking the atmosphere in the room.
Nan Yu instantly withdrew her hand, wiped the slightly reddened corner of her eye, and stood up.
"I’ll head out first and let Assistant Xia help you prepare the dicinal bath."
With that, she quickly left the room.
For the first ti, Huo Juanyan felt his hands so empty—it felt so empty that he wanted to seize Nan Yu’s hand and pull her into his embrace.
When Xia Xing walked in, he saw the possessive look in Huo Juanyan’s eyes and instinctively stepped back half a step.
"H-H–President Huo."
His voice trembled.
Huo Juanyan suddenly looked up at him and swiftly suppressed the complex emotions in his eyes, speaking coldly: "Xia Xing, check what Gu Chuxin was up to two years ago, especially her dealings with Gu Gongming."
Xia Xing imdiately acknowledged the order.
"Yes, President Huo."
When Nan Yu reached downstairs, she saw Chen Li anxiously making a phone call in the living room.
She chose to walk to the sofa quietly and began eating the waterlon on the plate.
Qi Ming ca over carrying a cup of warm milk and placed it in front of Nan Yu.
"Young Madam, it’s been so long since the house was this lively."
Nan Yu took a sip of milk and then turned to look at Qi Ming. "Uncle Qi, why haven’t I seen Brother Ren lately?"
Qi Ming smiled and replied: "Ren Xingzhou said Little Ba feels the house is too big and becos easily depressed staying here every day, so he’s taken him to the forest arranged by Madam for a weeklong stay."
Nan Yu finished the cup of milk, returned the cup to Qi Ming, and asked, "What about the two little lions?"
Qi Ming continued: "The little lions are at ho. They’re probably still sleeping now. There’s soone dedicated to looking after them. Young Madam, you don’t need to worry."
Nan Yu nodded lightly.
At that mont, Chen Li finished her phone call and turned to see Nan Yu sitting on the sofa. She imdiately approached her.
"Young Madam, sothing major has happened!"
Nan Yu looked at Chen Li with confusion. "What’s going on?"
Chen Li looked at her, her expression becoming particularly serious.
"Young Madam, earlier you instructed President Huo to have prevent Gu Chuxin from going abroad. I used her helping President Huo treat his leg to keep her here."
"But now she has suddenly proposed to treat President Huo’s leg and requested to examine him imdiately. She wants to begin treatnt tomorrow."
Nan Yu’s face darkened. "Did you refuse her?"
Chen Li sighed and said, "I intended to refuse her today, but she told she’s already on her way."
"She also said if we don’t let her see President Huo tonight, she’ll leave the country overnight and will never treat him again."
"Fearing she might really escape, I agreed."
Nan Yu’s expression grew more solemn. "Where is she headed now?"
Chen Li pointed to the ground. "I gave her this address. She should arrive in about half an hour."
She then pulled out her phone from her pocket and showed the ssage displayed on the screen to Nan Yu.
[Secretary Chen, please inform President Huo that I’ll arrive in half an hour. Tell him to prepare himself—I am fully confident I can have him standing within three days.]
Chen Li quickly whispered in Nan Yu’s ear: "Young Madam, what should we do now?"
Nan Yu stared at the ssage, her eyes gaining a sharp edge.
"Standing within three days."
Chen Li, hearing this, spoke up: "Young Madam, Gu Chuxin must be lying. She’s not the Ghost Doctor—how could she possibly get President Huo to stand within three days?"
Nan Yu suddenly smiled. "Secretary Chen, she might not be lying. She might indeed be able to make Huo Juanyan stand within three days."
All it takes is the Immortal Flower—then Huo Juanyan can certainly stand within three days!
