There was still arguing upstairs.

Song Yao kept saying, "I don’t care about all that. I opened the door for you, I brought you here to look for her. You promised ten thousand—you’re going to give it to ."

The person beside him snapped angrily, "If we can’t find her, don’t think you’ll get a single penny from !"

After speaking, the other person tried to leave, but Song Yao refused to let him go. With a trembling voice, he said, "If you don’t pay , I’ll call the police!"

——

At the entrance of her apartnt complex, Nan Yu told the driver to head back for now and that she’d call him later to co and pick her up.

Once the driver left, she went upstairs and changed into an all-black outfit, threw on a black cap, and hailed a cab to the West Suburb Amusent Park.

It was the weekend, and the West Suburb Amusent Park was packed with crowds.

Nan Yu pulled her hat brim lower, queued to enter the park, and bought a rabbit-shaped balloon at the entrance.

Holding the balloon in hand, she walked forward, ntally counting the park benches she passed.

"...eight, nine."

She sat down on the ninth bench.

Tying the rabbit balloon to the bench’s backrest, she then looked straight ahead at the roller coaster, where shrieks of excitent echoed.

Passersby around her were busy heading to the attractions, paying no attention to her.

Ten minutes later.

A clown dressed in colorful clothes and wearing a golden wig approached Nan Yu with a red raffle box in hand.

"Hello, would you like to enter the raffle?"

Nan Yu, wearing sunglasses, slowly lifted her head. Her gaze landed on the rabbit pin on the clown’s chest. A faint smile played on her lips.

"Sure."

The clown pushed the raffle box toward her. "May luck be with you."

Nan Yu reached her hand inside and pulled out a small red ball.

The next second, the clown bead ecstatically and announced, "Congratulations! You’ve won a box of rabbit chocolates."

He pulled out a neatly packaged box of chocolates from his pocket and handed it to her.

Nan Yu took it. "Thank you."

The clown smiled at her, then turned to nearby passersby. "Hello, would you like to enter the raffle?"

When he looked back again, the bench only had the rabbit balloon left on it—Nan Yu had already disappeared.

The clown withdrew his gaze and continued his task.

Nan Yu took advantage of the commotion and slipped into the amusent park staff’s changing room.

The room was empty. She walked inside and went straight to locker number 9.

Tearing open the box of chocolates in her hand, she revealed a key inside.

She unlocked the locker imdiately, finding only a single file inside.

Without hesitation, she took the file out, quickly tucked it away, and left.

Back ho, the first thing she did was tear open the file envelope.

The handwriting inside belonged to Z.

[Boss, the chairman and his wife of the Nan Group have been leaving their DNA samples at several hospitals in order to find their long-lost daughter.

Enclosed are the results of two parental DNA tests conducted between you and them.

One was done using a hair sample you left behind earlier; the other was reconducted with a new hair sample I requested from you and processed at a different hospital.]

A sudden wave of panic surged in Nan Yu’s chest.

For so reason, she didn’t feel ready to look at those two paternity test results.

Knock.

The sound of knocking broke through Nan Yu’s drifting thoughts.

She quickly stowed the file envelope and placed it inside the bedroom cabinet before heading to open the door.

As soon as she opened it, the sa driver who had dropped her off earlier stood at the doorway.

"Young Madam, have you packed everything? The matriarch has sent to pick you up."

Nan Yu checked the ti and realized it was already six in the evening.

"I still have a few clothes left to pack. Give ten more minutes."

The driver nodded. "Alright, Young Madam."

Nan Yu shut the door, turned back to grab her backpack, and stuffed it haphazardly with so clothes, tucking the file envelope in the very bottom.

Carrying the bag over one shoulder, she stepped out, and the driver imdiately offered, "Young Madam, allow to help you carry it."

Nan Yu thought of the docunts inside the bag and shook her head. "Just help carry the laptop inside."

With that, she headed downstairs.

The driver didn’t dare press further, carefully holding the laptop and trailing behind Nan Yu as they descended the stairs.

——

Nan Yu pulled out the two paternity test results and flipped to the last page.

When she saw the final outco, she froze in place.

Her eyes quivered, and her lips trembled as she muttered,

"I’m their biological daughter..."

She shook her head and picked up the two reports again, reading them from start to finish, word for word.

Her body, which initially trembled faintly, eventually shuddered uncontrollably. Her fingers shook so much she could barely grip the papers.

She read them again and again until eventually, crystalline tears slid down her face.

"So I am their biological daughter, and they’ve been searching for all this ti."
