Now in everyone’s eyes, Nan Qingqing is the picture of a pitiful, innocent flower, deceived by her deranged parents, which is why she’s so unlucky.
In the glances they cast toward Nan Qingqing, there were several shades of pity.
Nan Qingqing wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, her body trembling intermittently, while she still tried to appear strong with her words.
"Although all of this was done by my parents, as their daughter, I share the bla."
"I should not have chosen to help Sheng Ruoi cover up the truth and shift all the bla onto Nan Yu after witnessing everything, in an attempt to repay them for raising ."
"Today, I apologize to Nan Yu, madam, and the entire Nan Family for everything my parents have done."
She bowed her head deeply, apologizing profusely.
Out of the corner of her eye, catching a glimpse of Sheng Ruoi’s bewildered expression, Nan Qingqing knelt down in front of her.
Tears streaming down her face, she said, "Mom, I can’t cover for you anymore, please turn yourself in and confess."
Sheng Ruoi t Nan Qingqing’s eyes, which were filled with entreaty.
She heard Nan Qingqing say in a whisper that only the two of them could hear, "Mom, you’re completely paralyzed now, and you won’t be able to serve ti even if you confess. If you take the bla for everything, Dad and I will find a way to get you out afterward."
A flash of pain crossed Sheng Ruoi’s eyes, but looking at her own daughter whom she had cherished for so many years, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse.
Clenching her fists, she steeled her heart and nodded with difficulty.
"Yes, all of this was my doing!"
"I wanted to kill Nan Yu, that ungrateful wretch. From the mont I saved her from a sea of flas, I hated her every minute of every day."
"When I finally found my real daughter Qingqing, I found Nan Yu to be a thorn in my side, always wanting her dead."
As Sheng Ruoi spoke, a crazed smile appeared on her lips, "So, when there was a perfect chance to let her die at the Deep Mountain Zoo, I didn’t hesitate to act."
For a mont, the entire hall fell silent.
Only the mad laughter of Sheng Ruoi echoed ceaselessly.
"Hahaha..."
As she laughed and turned her head, she suddenly saw Nan Yu standing on the staircase, and her laughter ca to an abrupt halt.
Then, filled with hatred, she said, "Nan Yu, why didn’t you die?"
Standing at the top of the staircase, having heard everything, Nan Yu’s eyes filled with a touch of sadness.
So, they had started hating her so early, wishing that she had died sooner.
If Nan Qingqing hadn’t co back when she was thirteen, if she had returned even earlier, perhaps she would have truly died at her uncle’s place in the countryside.
Nan Zhuoyuan heard those words too and saw Nan Yu standing alone, a sharp pain piercing his heart.
He stepped forward, placing his hand on Nan Yu’s shoulder, "Xiao Yu, she’s just a madwoman now, a lunatic. Don’t believe what she says."
Nan Yu slowly raised her head, revealing a faint smile that held no trace of joy in her eyes.
"Big brother, I’m fine."
She walked slowly forward, arriving in front of Sheng Ruoi and Nan Qingqing, her dark eyes like a deep, intimidating lake.
"Sheng Ruoi, I’m afraid you’ll have to be disappointed forever. The more you want dead, the better I’ll live."
"And, I have to thank you for helping find my real parents. Otherwise, I would have had to spend my whole life with only despicable foster parents like you."
"Luckily, these vile parents of yours will now be yours alone, Nan Qingqing."
Suddenly, the clear sound of police sirens ca from outside the door.
Nan Yu’s gaze sharpened, her fingers moved rapidly, and a flash of silver light swept past Sheng Ruoi’s neck.
In an instant, Sheng Ruoi felt pain throughout her body, her previously paralyzed and powerless limbs regained sensation, and strength returned to them.
Her pupils contracted sharply as she turned to look at Nan Yu in shock.
There she saw Nan Yu slowly stand upright, calmly saying, "Sheng Ruoi, whether you’re faking illness or madness, I will not let you continue with this charade."
