Nan Yu, with her head lowered, could feel the deadly stare from Nan Zhou bearing down from above her, along with his domineering presence.
She forcibly cald herself down, slowly raised her head, and t his gaze.
She adjusted her glasses fra and spoke softly, "Young Master, I am Li Yingying from the acupuncture departnt, assigned by the director to perform acupuncture for the madam."
Nan Zhou was a whole head taller than Nan Yu, and when he looked down at her, it was as if Death itself was staring back at her.
"Acupuncture departnt?"
Nan Yu’s hand, hidden in her sleeve, clenched into a fist while she struggled to maintain her composure.
"Yes, acupuncture might be effective for the madam’s condition, so I ca to perform acupuncture on the madam."
The silent security guard next to them interjected, "Young Master, do you not recognize this Doctor Li? She said you asked her to co."
A flash of panic crossed Nan Yu’s eyes. Her clenched fingertips pierced her palm, and her bitten mouth started tasting of blood.
She hadn’t even entered the room yet, and she had been discovered?
Nan Yu’s mind raced furiously, ceaselessly pondering how to explain this situation.
"Young Master, I..."
The very next second, Nan Zhou’s voice, filled with doubt, deepened. "I’ve been at the Fierce Beast Zoo all day, never asked any doctor to co treat my mother—are you sure it was , and not my older brother who called?"
Upon hearing this, darkness that clouded Nan Yu’s vision a mont ago suddenly cleared.
She quickly lowered her head and said, "Then it might be our director who rembered wrongly. He just told that the acupuncture departnt assigned to treat the madam."
With that, she presented the box of Silver Needles and took out her cellphone, "I’ll ask our director."
She pretended to step outside to make a call.
"Stop!"
Nan Zhou imdiately called her to halt, his gaze falling on the box of Silver Needles then retracting it, he stepped forward into the room.
"No need to ask, follow upstairs."
"Yes, Young Master," Nan Yu responded, put away her phone, and followed him inside.
Duan Zhu’s sickroom was on the eighth floor, the entire floor was heavily guarded, and bodyguards filled the corridors, securely surrounding the innermost room.
At this mont, all doctors were resting on the seventh floor, with only nurses attending to Duan Zhu’s condition.
Nan Zhou headed straight for the sickroom to check on Duan Zhu.
Seeing Duan Zhu unconscious and unresponsive, sadness washed over his face.
With tears in his voice, he said, "Mom, it’s Azhou. Wake up and look at ."
But Duan Zhu on the bed, gave no response and lay quietly there, like a sleeping beauty.
Nan Zhou gripped Duan Zhu’s hands tightly, his eyes quickly reddening.
He called several more tis, but Duan Zhu still did not respond.
After what seed like forever, Nan Zhou closed his eyes in despair, then opened them again, turning to look at Nan Yu.
He said sternly, "Li Yingying, co and check on my mother."
Nan Yu, looking at the unconscious Duan Zhu, suppressed the sadness in her heart and slowly approached the bed.
She tried to suppress the sob in her throat, saying as calmly as possible, "Young Master, please step aside, I need to take her pulse first."
Nan Zhou stood up, gave way, and stood aside, watching her every move intently.
If she dared to pull any tricks, he wouldn’t hesitate to disable her.
Nan Yu, completely focused on Duan Zhu, didn’t notice Nan Zhou’s gaze.
She placed her hand on Duan Zhu’s wrist, closed her eyes, and finely sensed Duan Zhu’s faint pulse.
The pulse was faintly trembling, dispirited and irregular, disappearing at tis only to reappear starkly.
However, the heart pulse was still robust, her life was temporarily safe. With definitive care, she could surely awaken!
Nan Yu slowly withdrew her hand, a trace of joy flashing in her eyes.
"Young Master, I now need to perform acupuncture on the madam. Please leave the room, as I require that no one interrupt during the acupuncture. Please co back in an hour."
