Chapter 43: I Can’t Do It
Madam Xiao questioned again, “Why didn’t you say sothing nice about your sister in front of Cheng Yang today? Is there anyone like you who would treat a younger sister like that?”
Xiao Ying sneered. You would think they would at least have so feelings for her after raising her for so many years. Even if they raised a dog, they would’ve developed an emotional attachnt after all this ti.
But Madam Xiao didn’t even ask if she was okay when she saw that she was injured. How ridiculous.
Xiao Ying’s expression turned cold. “Why should I help her? It’s not anyone’s fault that she’s unlikeable.”
Madam Xiao’s expression darkened.
Xiao Ruoxuan shouted indignantly, “Mommy said that the only reason Brother Cheng Yang doesn’t like is because you’re injured.”
Xiao Ying looked at Madam Xiao with a mocking grin. “Is that what you told her?”
Madam Xiao pulled Xiao Ruoxuan back, slightly embarrassed. She was feeling very dissatisfied with Xiao Ying’s attitude.
She said, “Rember to speak up for Ruoxuan next ti.”
Xiao Ying replied indifferently, “I can’t.”
This attitude really did resemble Cheng Yang a bit.
Madam Xiao shouted in anger, “You rebellious girl!”
Xiao Lingbo was woken up by the commotion. He stood on the stairs and looked at Madam Xiao unhappily. “What are you shouting for? You don’t have the bearing of a Madam at all.”
Madam Xiao had just been angered by Xiao Ying and now her husband was saying that she had no bearing. Her expression turned even uglier.
Her sinister look displeased Xiao Lingbo even further.
Xiao Ying smiled and said, “Daddy, Mommy is blaming for not putting in a good word for my sister in front of Cheng Yang. I’m sure you know that it’s already very difficult for to stay by his side. How can I still have the energy to help my sister?”
Xiao Lingbo looked at Madam Xiao and Xiao Ruoxuan behind her and figured out what was going on.
With an even icier expression, he said, “You’re not allowed to approach Cheng Yang in the future.”
Madam Xiao looked up in disbelief. “Why?”
Xiao Lingbo frowned. “Don’t you know who Cheng Yang is? How dare you approach him? Stay away from him in the future.”
Madam Xiao said unhappily, “If Xiao Ying can, why can’t our Ruoxuan?”
Xiao Lingbo was so angered by Madam Xiao he accidentally blurted, “Cheng Yang is a lunatic. How dare you let Ruoxuan get close to him? Are you crazy?!”
Madam Xiao and Xiao Ruoxuan were both stunned.
Xiao Lingbo imdiately knew he ssed up after saying that. He looked at Xiao Ying and carefully observed her expression before saying, “Ying’er, don’t be afraid. You still have to build a good relationship with Mr. Cheng.”
Xiao Ying was expressionless as she watched Xiao Lingbo try to explain himself.
Xiao Lingbo’s expression gradually turned awkward. Xiao Ying soon found it boring and went upstairs.
As she entered her room, she could still hear Xiao Lingbo and Madam Xiao arguing, as well as Xiao Ruoxuan’s sniffling.
Xiao Ying closed the door, blocking out all the sounds.
She walked over to the bed and threw herself onto it. Nuzzling against the soft pillow, she buried her head in it and stopped moving.
Xiao Ying’s heart was in a ss. Not because of the Xiao family, but because of Cheng Yang.
She had originally approached him with a motive, but his kindness terrified her.
Her experience in her previous life had taught her that everyone who had been good to her was fake. They were all lies.
What about Cheng Yang?
If they continued to interact, would she fall into a new trap?
After a while, soone knocked on the door and asked her to go down for dinner.
Xiao Ying freshened herself up and went downstairs.
At the dining table, Xiao Lingbo treated Xiao Ying with great care.
Xiao Lingbo and Madam Xiao probably had reached a consensus in the afternoon, because Madam Xiao did not pick on her. Even Xiao Ruoxuan beca much more well-behaved, but her face revealed her sympathy for Xiao Ying.
Xiao Ying silently watched their little act and waited for them to tell her their real purpose.
As expected, after just five minutes, Xiao Lingbo could not bear it any longer.
“Ying’er, Daddy wants to ask you a favor.”
