The door was pushed open at the very next mont and Cyprian rushed in, dark circles lining her eyes. She took in Shikera’s appearance in one fell glance and a smile broke out on her lips.
"Soone looks beautiful," she drawled.
"And soone looks horrid. Didn’t you sleep well, Rian?" Shikera asked.
Cyprian rolled her eyes as she fell on the bed. "More like I wasn’t allowed to sleep at all. Raymond was a beast and I clearly told him I have to work today. Aaargh!" she groaned.
"And you are still lying on the bed? Don’t you have to get ready to leave for work?" Shikera questioned. Without waiting for an answer, she went to pull Cyprian up from the bed and pushed her to the door.
Seeing that her friend was serious in sending her out, Cyprian hurriedly stopped her, "Wait! Wait! I ca to borrow your clothes. While you weren’t here, I have been working more in front of the cara than on field so I can’t just wear anything. You think there’s sothing for ?"
"I don’t think I have anything suitable here. Will you co ho with and let’s check so out?" Shikera asked. She noticed Cyprian’s calculating the ti that would be spent on that, and spoke up, "I am talking about our ho here in the estate. Shouldn’t take us more than ten minutes."
Cyprian jumped at the opportunity instantly. That would be better as she would have a long range of clothes to chose from.
"Let’s get on our way then," Shikera said. "We can also leave for work together since I’m going there too. Just wanted to take one of the cars at ho."

Ignoring the number of eyes her presence had drawn, Shikera pushed the door open and stepped into the conference room to feel another massive number of gazes descend on her. A eting was ongoing and she had known that even before she ca in, as her intent was to et everyone in the room all at once.
She wanted to apologize.
Maxwell was there, sitting at the chair nearest to the door which she was standing by. His eyes widened in surprise as he recognized her, standing up imdiately.
"Shikera?!"
"Maxwell...Hi!" Shikera waved her hand, her lips pulled up in a rigid smile. She swept her gaze around the room, noticing the way everyone gaped at her in shock. It was as if they hadn’t been expecting her return.
"How have you been? Did you enjoy your vacation?"
Shikera raised her brows Maxwell, confusion evident in her eyes. "Vacation? Didn’t i—"
"Question and answer, Kera. How was your vacation?" Maxwell repeated. It was obvious he was trying to stop her from ntioning her resignation.
"Well, it was great," Shikera replied.
Maxwell clapped his hands excitedly, extending his hand for an handshake which Shikera took.
"Since you’re back looking more refreshed than ever. I take it that you want to resu work imdiately, right?" he asked, an earnest plea in his gaze. Ever since she left, the Elovien’s Spotlight team had expected to be disbanded imdiately if another anchor wasn’t assigned to them, but none of the sort happened.
The first week which went by without a presentation caused a decrease in their viewers rate, until DL Corporation invested in the show. That way, they had been able to create more hype about the next presentation even though their show anchor was absent. Now that she ca back, Maxwell didn’t want to expend the show’s luck so he was asking her to start imdiately.
"That’s..." Shikera began. She still had not gone to the hospital for a check-up and was not sure what the diagnosis would be, so she was hesitating to start work imdiately.
"Is there a problem?" Maxwell probed.
Shikera was about to reply when she heard the sound of her phone ringing. She took it out to swipe the red dial but stopped when she saw who was calling.
"Ethan?" she said as soon as the call connected. Hearing his voice reply from the other side, she breathed a sigh of relief and excused herself from the room.
"Ethan, where have you been? You promised to be at the hotel when I wake up but you didn’t co. Why?" she questioned, her tone showing how displeased she was.
"I’m sorry, Kera. Why don’t I explain when I get ho? Where are you?" he asked.
"Preston," Shikera replied. "Are you on your way ho?"
"Yes, actually. Want to pick you up?"
Shikera refused, "No, I will drive myself. I might be a little late."
"It’s alright. I also have to take care of so stuffs. By the way..." he trailed off, inciting suspense in Shikera’s heart at whatever he wanted to say.
"What?" she asked.
"I just wanted to say I was extrely pleased with your act of service the other day, Miss Anderson. And I agree to remove my mask and reveal my face on your show. Anyti and any day is fine by so you don’t have to worry about patterning anything to my preference and comfort. Bye."
The beep sound from the call disconnecting made Shikera realize that she had really heard what she just thought she heard. Ethan DeLoach agreed to reveal his face on her show?! No...She was getting the hotcake of the whole industry so easily?!
"Shikera!!!"
Hearing soone scream her na, she looked up and stepped away in ti to avoid Skyler crashing into her.
"Oh my goodness, Sky! Tone down on the scream," she chuckled, when Skyler, barely able to stop herself from running ran straight into the door of the conference room.
"I can’t. You’re finally back and I can sleep well," she breathed out in relief.
"Why would you be the one short of sleep? Even i was able to sleep under a strange person’s roof," Shikera teased. The smile on her face slowly disappeared when she saw how serious Skyler looked. "What’s the problem, Sky?"
"You, of course. You think I am joking that I can’t sleep? I live in fear everyday that your husband might blow up in anger and decide to punish for not contacting him imdiately you left that day. You think it’s easy to live out of Ethan DeLoach’s favor?!"
As Skyler’s voice grew louder and louder in agitation, Shikera hurriedly pulled her away from where they had been standing to an hallway with no single human in it.
"Why were you screaming, Skyler? And...about my husband..." she trailed off, her eyes clouding with nurous questions.
