Chapter 1707: Chapter 1804: I Have an Idea
“You really can’t seem to catch a break, huh?” Fang Lin stood within the Sky Swallowing Palace, a faint smile of helplessness on his face.
Dugu Nian’s expression carried a hint of mockery: “It seems your esteed title as Master Fang may soon slip away.”
Fang Lin shook his head: “That’s fine. Let them ss around however they want. It’s just a useless title anyway—if they want it, let them take it.”
Dugu Nian furrowed her delicate brows: “You’re this indifferent about it?”
Fang Lin said: “This journey across the Seven Seas taught many things. Compared to those revelations, the petty sches of the Alchemy Tao family are truly inconsequential.”
Dugu Nian curled her lips: “You might not care, but I do. If those bastards are so intent on targeting you, then I’ll just kill them all.”
Fang Lin quickly advised: “Don’t do that. If we act against these people now, our Sky Swallowing Palace will end up becoming the public enemy of the entire world.”
“So what if we’re the public enemy? Haven’t we always been the enemy of every faction under the heavens anyway?” Dugu Nian’s face was a picture of defiant arrogance.
Fang Lin smiled bitterly: “Things aren’t the sa as they were before. Our Sky Swallowing Palace needs ti to recover and strengthen itself. As for the chaos among the Nine Countries, let’s avoid getting involved if we can.”
Dugu Nian didn’t insist, though her deanor clearly showed her lingering loathing toward the Alchemy Tao family.
“Any movents from the Sealing Sword Pavilion recently?” asked Fang Lin.
“Silver Fox has been keeping a watchful eye on them, but there haven’t been any notable actions. There’s even been no word of their people appearing anywhere among the Nine Countries,” Dugu Nian replied.
Fang Lin acknowledged with a nod. The Sealing Sword Pavilion remained the greatest rival to the Sky Swallowing Palace. Though Fang Lin had stirred up quite the commotion within the Ten Thousand Mountains, it likely hadn’t caused any serious damage to the Sealing Sword Pavilion. Their strength was still formidable.
Still, Fang Lin was deeply curious about the true intentions of the Sealing Sword Pavilion. This force maintained an aura of mystery and had yet to fully reveal itself to the world.
Especially the Pavilion Master of the Sealing Sword Pavilion—an exceptionally troubleso opponent. Though Fang Lin had defeated him once before, upon reflection, Fang Lin couldn’t shake the feeling that the Pavilion Master had been holding back during their fight.
Of course, Fang Lin’s current strength vastly surpassed what it had been back then. If he were to face the Pavilion Master again, Fang Lin felt he had a good chance of winning.
“The movents of the Demon Beast clan are also unusual. They successfully took over Yuan Country, leaving only the Yuan Capital. With their strength, the Demon Beast clan could easily conquer the entire Yuan Country, yet they retreated at the crucial mont, confining themselves to the northern grasslands,” Dugu Nian noted.
Hearing this, Fang Lin couldn’t help but find Great Sage Equal to Heaven’s decision baffling. If it were him, Fang Lin would’ve pressed forward and captured the Yuan Capital without hesitation, never retreating at such a critical juncture.
With Great Sage Equal to Heaven’s intelligence, it was inconceivable that he would make such an inexplicably foolish decision. Yet, he did exactly that. Various factions within the Nine Countries were as perplexed as Fang Lin and his allies.
“The three sects each have Immortal beings guarding them. Given that the Nine Countries and the three sects have been in conflict for so long without faltering, it’s possible that there are Immortal beings concealed within the Nine Countries as well—perhaps one resides within the Yuan Capital,” Fang Lin speculated aloud.
Dugu Nian shook her head: “Even if there’s truly an Immortal being in the Yuan Capital, soone as powerful as Great Sage Equal to Heaven shouldn’t have much to fear.”
Fang Lin nodded; that was true. Great Sage Equal to Heaven’s strength was indeed overwhelming. Aside from the Sky Tower Sword Master and the other two hidden masters of the three sects, no one from this era seed capable of matching Great Sage Equal to Heaven.
“The Upper Three Countries have stood untouchable for so long—there must be undisclosed secrets behind their endurance,” Fang Lin remarked. He sighed, his expression tinged with contemplation. The stronger he beca, the more he uncovered, and the more acutely aware he was of his own shortcomings.
Ordinary Martial Artists of the current generation might view Spirit Source or Long-lived Ones as the pinnacle of strength, but they are unaware of the vast realms beyond—how many more extraordinary figures exist, despite martial and alchemical arts being in decline during this era.
Be it those who remained from ancient tis or those who cultivated anew in this generation, only by standing at higher vantage points could one glimpse their true selves.
Suddenly, Fang Lin recalled a matter—the Supre Divine Treasure!
Long ago, Fang Lin used a ring to claim a position in the Supre Saint Hall and beca one of the twelve inheritors of the Holy Palace, forced to contend with other inheritors for their legacies and power.
Now, Fang Lin possessed three supre inheritances, and Juechen, who had beco the tiger-head masked figure of the Sky Swallowing Palace, carried three supre inheritances as well.
Yet Fang Lin had never acted against Juechen’s inheritances—not simply because Juechen had joined the Sky Swallowing Palace, but because Fang Lin had uncovered ulterior motives behind Martial Lord Mo Shouhe’s creation of the Supre Saint Hall. He sensed hidden sches and thus harbored reservations about the Supre Saint Hall itself.
Even the once-intriguing Supre Divine Treasure had been neglected by Fang Lin for so ti.
Now, as the thought resurfaced, Fang Lin couldn’t help but mull over it.
What exactly was the Supre Divine Treasure? Did it truly contain all of Martial Lord Mo Shouhe’s legacies? Or was it actually a greater trap? What was Mo Shouhe plotting through this?
“Mo Shouhe—an individual who achieved the rank of Martial Lord even before my father, disappearing without a trace before the Great Catastrophe. Did he evade the catastrophe like the Sky Tower Sword Master and others, or has he already t his end?” Fang Lin pondered inwardly.
Without delay, Fang Lin summoned Juechen.
Still wearing the tiger-head mask, Juechen entered the hall, bypassing Fang Lin and bowing respectfully toward Dugu Nian.
“Hall Master summoned —what are your instructions?” Juechen asked coldly.
“He’s the one looking for you,” Dugu Nian gestured at Fang Lin.
Only then did Juechen turn to et Fang Lin’s gaze, a trace of complexity flickering beneath his mask.
Fang Lin got straight to the point: “Juechen, you should have three inheritances, correct?”
Upon hearing this, Juechen’s eyes revealed a glimr of coldness.
Fang Lin, aware of Juechen’s inevitable wariness, smiled and said: “No need to tense up—I’m not here to take your inheritances. I’ve long lost interest in those anyway.”
“I have four inheritances,” Juechen responded.
Fang Lin, surprised by this revelation, showed a hint of astonishnt. Juechen had silently acquired yet another inheritance? This guy was truly formidable—if this count was accurate, Juechen held more inheritances than anyone else, surpassing even Fang Lin.
“You have four, I have three. Combined, that makes seven inheritances, leaving five remaining. Those should all belong to the three sects.” Fang Lin began to muse aloud.
Juechen frowned, unsure of what Fang Lin intended with this statent.
Fang Lin grinned at Juechen and said: “I have an idea.”
