Chapter 325: Void Resonance

The battle against a concept is a frustrating thing.

The Parasite King was no longer a humanoid shape. He was a storm of violet static and screaming code, swirling around us in a chaotic vortex. Every ti I swung my dagger, the blade passed harmlessly through the mist.

"Missed! Missed again!" The King mocked, his voice echoing from everywhere and nowhere. "You are trying to delete a cloud with a hamr, Anomaly!"

"Michael!" Selena shouted. She was currently running along the "wall" of the Spirit Realm—which was actually just a fractured plane of gravity—drawing the King’s fire. "Physical damage is ineffective! His hitbox is dispersed!"

She leaped, spinning her scythe to deflect a barrage of purple lightning. Her avatar flickered violently, turning translucent for a second before stabilizing.

"You are annoying, little glitch!" The King roared, sending a wave of hungry shadows after her.

I stood in the center of the storm, breathing hard. My mana was at 30\%. My stamina was flashing red.

Selena is right, I thought, lowering my dagger. I can’t kill a Spirit Demon with physical swords. He doesn’t have a body. He just occupies a set of coordinates.

I looked at the dagger in my hand. It was a tool of the physical world. It cut skin, muscle, and bone. But here? Here, everything was data. Everything was just... space.

"To kill the virus," I whispered, closing my eyes, "you don’t shoot the screen. You wipe the drive."

I sheathed my swords.

"Giving up?" The King laughed. The storm of static tightened around , thousands of purple needles forming in the air. "Good. Die quietly."

I ignored him. I ignored the screaming wind. I ignored the panic rising in my chest.

I focused on the Void.

Back in the Academy, Void Magic was described as "Darkness." But that was wrong. Darkness is just a lack of photons. Void is the absence of everything. It is the canvas upon which the universe is painted.

If the Parasite King was the paint—ssy, corrosive, and wrong—then I didn’t need to scrub him off. I just needed to cut the canvas he was standing on.

I extended my senses. My [Quantum Analysis Mind] stopped looking for "Enemies" and started looking for "Distortions."

There.

To my left, the space was heavy. Dense. The grid of reality was sagging under the weight of the King’s malice.

To my right, the space was thin. Brittle. That was where the World Spirit was bleeding out.

"I see you," I whispered.

"What?" The King’s voice faltered.

I raised my hand, fingers spread. I didn’t reach for him. I reached for the space around him.

"Void Resonance."

HUMMMMM.

The air didn’t scream this ti. It vibrated. A low, sub-bass frequency that shook the entire Spirit Realm. The violet static freezing in mid-air.

I grabbed the empty air and pulled.

"GAAAH!" The King shrieked.

The storm of mist was suddenly yanked sideways, as if sucked into a vacuum cleaner. The dispersed cloud was forced to condense, dragged by the gravity of my will into a solid, humanoid shape again.

"What... what are you doing?!" The King demanded, thrashing against the invisible grip. "How are you touching ?!"

"I’m not touching you," I said, opening my eyes. They were no longer brown. They were glowing with a deep, starless violet. "I’m shrinking the room."

I took a step forward. The space around rippled like water.

"Selena!" I commanded. "Get back! I’m about to break the laws of physics."

Selena didn’t ask questions. She used her scythe to launch herself backward, putting fifty ters between us in a heartbeat.

I clapped my hands together.

"Domain Expansion."

It was the ultimate technique of any S-Rank mage. To impose your internal world onto external reality. I wasn’t S-Rank yet. My stats were barely B-Rank. But my understanding? My understanding was built on two lives worth of gaming chanics and physics textbooks.

[System Alert: Anomaly Detected.]

[Skill Evolution: Void Manipulation -> ???]

[Understanding of Space: Critical Threshold Reached.]

[Unlocking Domain...]

A sphere of absolute blackness erupted from my hands. It wasn’t shadow. It was an Event Horizon.

It expanded rapidly, catching the Parasite King in its radius.

"No!" The King clawed at the edge of the sphere, but his hands just stretched, spaghettifying into long ribbons of purple light. "You cannot cage ! I am the Void!"

"You’re just a tourist," I gritted out, sweat pouring down my face. "I was born in the empty."

I squeezed my hands, trying to collapse the sphere, trying to crush him into a singularity.

CRACK.

My chest seized.

The black sphere flickered. The gravity wavered.

[Warning: Mana Depleted.]

[Warning: Core Instability Detected.]

The sphere shattered like glass.

The backlash hit like a truck. I was thrown backward, skidding across the grey mud of the Spirit Realm. I coughed, and red blood splattered onto the monochro ground.

"Ha... Hahaha!"

The Parasite King reford, though he looked smaller, dimr. He hovered over , his purple crown reforming.

"Impressive, Anomaly. Truly. You almost had ."

He raised a blade of jagged static.

"But you ran out of battery."

I tried to stand, but my legs wouldn’t move. My mana bar was at a hard 0. My veins felt like they were filled with sand. I had unlocked the gun, but I didn’t have the bullets to fire it.

"Goodbye, Michael Willson," the King whispered.

He swung the blade.

CLANG.

A scythe blocked the strike.

Selena stood over . Her avatar was flickering so fast she looked like a strobe light. Her left arm was missing—deleted by the backlash of my failed domain.

"Calculation," Selena said, her voice glitching. "Mana... transfer... required."

She looked down at , her obsidian eyes calm.

"Michael... take it."
