The word "Yes" slipped out, barely more than a whisper. As soon as I said it, the screen lit up in a harsh blue flash—way too bright for my eyes. My chest tightened, heart pounding like it was trying to break free. Just like that, all 24 of my Override Points were gone. Every single one. I was at zero now. No backup. No safety net. I’d gone all in.
A mont of agonizing suspense stretched out, feeling like an eternity. The blue light swirled, fusing, then expanding, it filled my vision. The silence in the room was absolute, broken only by the ragged sound of my own breathing as I patiently await the system ssage. My muscles tensed, bracing for... sothing. A new power. A catastrophic failure. I had no idea what to expect.
Then, with a sudden, sharp ping, the light receded, snapping back into the familiar interface. A new ssage, stark and bold, filled the center of the screen.

My breath hitched. Narrative Redaction. I was in a mix of awe and slight confusion. Then I quickly recalled where I had seen such a na, I knew the override. I knew it from binging Hero’s Vow. This wasn’t just a random override; this was of the most potent overrides, the protagonist gets later on in the story.
In Hero’s Vow, Eren Valtor, the protagonist, had used this ability only once. It was during his climactic fight against a high-ranking mber of the cult, a shadowy figure who proved to be overwhelmingly powerful, seemingly invincible. Eren, pushed to his absolute limits, had discovered the cult mber’s true na – a na that had been carefully hidden throughout the novel. Once he knew the na, he used Narrative Redaction. He literally erased the cult mber from existence. Not killed him. Erased him, like he never existed.
The novel had described the process in chilling detail. Once activated, the system created a "Redaction Sequence." Eren had to speak the full true na aloud. And then, the system would rewrite the script retroactively. It would replace that person’s contributions to major events, reorganize alliances, mories, and plotlines as if that person had never existed in the first place. It was the ultimate retcon.
My gaze flickered to the requirents. `Cost: 150 Override Points`. One hundred and fifty. I had just gambled away my last 24 points, leaving at zero. This override, this ultimate weapon, was completely out of my reach. It was like winning the lottery, only to find out the prize money was in a currency that wouldn’t exist for another century. The sheer, crushing irony of it was almost laughable. I had risked everything, gone completely vulnerable, for an ability I couldn’t even use. Not yet.
`Requirent: Must have at least 10 Narrative Influence.` My eyes darted to my stats screen, which was still open in the background. `Narrative Influence... 3`. Another brick wall. I had no idea that I needed to increase the Narrative Influence stat, let alone accumulate 10 points. It was a stat I hadn’t even considered.
And the warnings. `Major spike in: Glitch Coefficient ( 25%)`, `Reality Divergence ( 15%)`. My current Glitch Coefficient was already at 15%, and Reality Divergence at 14.8%. Activating Narrative Redaction would push those numbers into terrifying, unprecedented territory. A 25% increase in Glitch Coefficient would put it at 40%. What would that even an? Would reality start to unravel around ? Would the system completely break? The thought was truly terrifying. The power was imnse, but the consequences seed equally catastrophic.
I closed my eyes, a long, shaky breath escaping my lips. This was a lot to take in. A potent override. The power to erase. It was a terrifying weapon, one that could potentially solve all my problems. Erase Herald. Erase the cult leader. Erase anyone who stood in my way. But it was also a power with imnse, unpredictable consequences, and currently, utterly beyond my grasp.
My mind, despite the exhaustion and the lingering pain from my wounds, began to process the implications of this new ability. If I could literally erase soone from existence, what did that an for the integrity of this world? For the people in it? If I erased Lord Sapphire, for example, would Evelina and Luminous simply forget him? Would their mories be rewritten? Would their grief vanish? Or worse will there also be erased? Since the cause that caused them to exist isn’t a cause anymore.
But it also felt... wrong. Deeply, fundantally wrong. To literally rewrite soone’s existence, to erase their entire history, their impact on the world, their relationships. It was a power that felt too close to playing God, a power that could have unforeseen, catastrophic ripple effects on the narrative, on the very fabric of this reality.
And the "full true na" requirent. That was a significant hurdle. It wasn’t just a casual piece of information for people who tends to be secrety. This override wasn’t a simple button press; it required significant effort and knowledge.
The silence in my room felt heavier than ever. I was out of Override Points and completely exposed. And now, I had this god-tier ability sitting there, locked behind a cost I couldn’t pay. Just activating it cost a lot. The whole thing felt like a cruel joke. I’d bet everything for a shot at real power... and all I got was a reminder of how powerless I still was.
My thoughts drifted back to Herald. He knew I had "special abilities." He was here to recruit , to use in his war against the cult. He had just killed Lord Sapphire, a suspected cult mber, right in front of . And now, I had this. Narrative Redaction. If Herald knew about this ability, what would he do? Would he try to force to use it? To erase his enemies? Those thought were grounded at the ti. This ability, while powerful, also made a target, a valuable asset to be exploited.
