High above on a rooftop, a cloaked figure stood against the dark sky. His cloak fluttered wildly in the wind, his face hidden behind a mask. The aura of mystery around him was palpable, thickening the air with an unsettling presence. He stared into the distance, eyes narrowing as they focused on a point far beyond the Academy walls.

There was a reason he stood here, a reason that everyone within the Academy was oblivious to.

His voice, low and cold, sliced through the silence of the night. "Let it begin..."

"We're here," Arthur said, a grin plastered on his face as he glanced up at the Weapon building. He rubbed his hands together in anticipation.

Alex looked up at the towering structure and raised an eyebrow. "This better be good," he muttered, crossing his arms.

Arthur rolled his eyes. "You should know by now. I wouldn't drag you here if it wasn't worth it."

"Hmm, fair enough," Alex replied, though his tone betrayed a hint of doubt.

Arthur shot him a sidelong glance, letting out an exasperated sigh. "You're killing my vibe here, man. Can you just be a little excited?"

Alex chuckled lightly, his lips curving into a slight smile. "Alright, alright. Surprise , then."

Arthur's grin widened. "That's the spirit! Now, we've been around the Academy a lot, but..." He paused for dramatic effect, eyes twinkling mischievously.

Alex groaned internally but played along. "But...?" he prompted.

Arthur's expression turned serious as he crossed his arms. "But we haven't visited the rooftop of the Weapon building."

Alex blinked, taken aback. "Wait, that's it? The rooftop?"

Arthur held up a hand. "Ah-ah, before you shoot it down, trust on this one. The view is sothing else."

Alex sighed, staring at the building's entrance. "I was expecting sothing... I don't know, more exciting."

Arthur clicked his tongue in disapproval. "You're acting like this isn't a big deal. The view will blow your mind, just wait."

"Alright," Alex conceded with a wave of his hand. "But make it quick. I have to et Tessa tonight."

Arthur patted him on the shoulder with a knowing smirk. "Ah, love calls, huh? Fine, we won't take long."

"Let's just get this over with," Alex said, moving closer to the building.

Arthur jogged to catch up, eyes gleaming with excitent. "I scoped this place out earlier. The walls are scalable, so we can get to the top the fun way."

Alex couldn't help but let a small grin slip. "You know we could just use magic to get up there, right?"

Arthur groaned dramatically, slumping his shoulders. "Where's the fun in that? You rely on magic for everything. Sotis, you have to embrace the challenge."

Alex pondered for a mont, rubbing his chin. "You know, you're right. Let's do it your way."

Arthur bead as if he'd just won an argunt of monuntal importance. "Now we're talking! Let's go."

With that, they began scaling the Weapon building, fingers and feet finding holds on the textured stone. Alex moved with fluid grace, his body used to physical exertion. Arthur, on the other hand, took it slower, savoring the thrill of the climb.

Arin's cloak continued to flutter in the cold breeze as he watched from a distance. "I suddenly feel like a villainous ani character," he mused, a hint of amusent in his voice. The sensation wasn't foreign; it was pure exhilaration.

A smirk spread across his lips as he anticipated what was about to unfold. "Well, it is what it is."

Outside the Academy, the forest remained eerily still. Leaves rustled as wolves and other beasts moved under the cover of night. A lone wolf, standing under the shadows of a tree, suddenly perked up, ears twitching as it sensed sothing amiss. It glanced left, eyes narrowing before darting away, its presence swallowed by the forest's darkness.

Monts later, silence reclaid the forest until it was shattered by a pair of nacing red eyes cutting through the darkness. A creaky voice followed.

"Th... This is it. The... Aca... Academy..."

The figure moved silently, each step calculated and precise. Its eyes scanned the surroundings, glinting with a sinister light. As it neared the Academy's towering walls, it paused, fingers tracing the cold stone surface.

"Walls, huh? It won't st... stop ..."

The figure took a step back, adjusting its hood and cloak to obscure its form further. It crouched low, muscles coiling with latent power. In an instant—

*WHOOSH*

It shot forward with inhuman speed, launching itself up the wall with grace and ease.

*WHOOSH*

The figure soared above the wall, landing inside the Academy grounds without a sound, its form lding into the shadows.

"Finally... Inside..." it hissed, eyes darting to survey the Academy grounds.

Its gaze locked onto the Weapon building, spotting two figures on the rooftop. A twisted grin stretched across its face, revealing sharp fangs.

"Two... Humans, huh? Right... Let the massacre begin..."

*********

"Okay, I admit it," Alex said, eyes wide with awe as he took in the view. His hair whipped around his face, the wind carrying the chill of the night air. "This is incredible."

Arthur chuckled, looking smug. "Told you," he said, putting his hands in his pockets casually. The nightscape stretched out before them, the Academy grounds bathed in the pale light of the moon.

Alex took a deep breath, savoring the mont. "I'll bring Tessa here when I can. She'd love this."

Arthur smirked, elbowing Alex lightly. "Planning to have your first kiss up here, are you?"

"Shut up," Alex muttered, his cheeks flushing slightly. He turned away, letting the night breeze cool his face. "Why did she want to et , anyway?"

Arthur shrugged, looking thoughtful. "Who knows? Maybe she has sothing special planned."

"Yeah, maybe," Alex mumbled, trying not to let his nerves show.

They stood in silence for a mont, letting the tranquility of the scene wash over them. Finally, Alex straightened up and sighed. "I should get going."

Arthur nodded, clasping his hands behind his head. "Alright, I'll wait here. Catch you when you're done."

Alex hesitated, glancing back. "You sure you'll be alright here alone?"

"Please," Arthur scoffed, waving him off. "Go et your girl. I'll be fine."

"Alright," Alex said, walking to the edge of the rooftop. "Try not to fall."

Arthur snorted. "I won't. Now get going."

With that, Alex jumped down, landing softly on the ground below. His silhouette disappeared into the night as he headed towards his rendezvous with Tessa.

Arthur remained on the rooftop, unaware of the ominous presence that had breached the Academy grounds. Unbeknownst to them both, their simple adventure had just set the stage for a nightmare.
