Chapter 248: Reclaiming Our Holand: The Battle of Starnight(1)

Charlotte flushed with embarrassnt and anger, struggling with all her strength.

"Stop moving. By the way, you can go talk to Phield. You were both from the Purple Gold Empire before, so you might have sothing in common. But not today, I have work arranged for her."

"You an that newly arrived sister?"

"That’s right, though she hasn’t ford a contract with

yet."

At the ntion of this, Charlotte stopped her restless wriggling. Her fair, slightly plump long legs also ceased kicking about as she lifted her chin and said, "That’s great. I only heard soone captured her to use as a plush... ahem, I didn’t expect her to be a remnant of my holand. Then I’ll go find her and prepare for future revenge."

"Don’t go building a state within a state for ."

Phield’s mouth twitched.

"Hahaha, I won’t."

Charlotte struggled down from his shoulder and placed a hand on her hip. "I’m not so parasite. I wouldn’t do sothing so lowly. Our people have pride. Besides, I don’t want to leave Nightfall Domain anymore. This is my ho."

Phield nodded with satisfaction and added, "If we think long term, using the na of the Purple Gold Empire could indeed attract talented refugees."

After all, he himself looked like soone from the Purple Gold Empire, with black hair and black eyes. It might work to win over so Divine Chosen among the remnants.

After a mont of thought, Phield smiled. "Let’s not overthink it for now. We’ll try when the opportunity cos. Go get so sleep first. Don’t walk around with those dark circles."

"Fine." Charlotte stomped reluctantly.

After sending Charlotte back to Windrise Town, Phield looked north, his expression turning solemn.

"It’s about ti to launch the attack. Without Starnight City, the expansion of the domain will be hindered."

Without pause, Phield hurried toward the front line of Starnight City.

Over the past two days, they had not attacked the corrupted corpses. Instead, they transported a large amount of supplies, preparing to deliver a decisive blow.

The next morning.

"I didn’t expect this to really be Nightfall Domain. How did you even survive?"

Alice, invited to assist, looked at the endless sea of corrupted corpses filling her entire field of vision with a complicated expression. Beyond that, gray-white monsters wandered aimlessly like a tide covering the land.

"If it’s not Nightfall Domain, then what is it, a scenic attraction?"

Phield had refrained from attacking earlier out of concern that insufficient preparation might provoke the horde.

If the corpse tide broke through sowhere, the manor base would be finished.

A war of attrition would have little effect. These corrupted creatures could regenerate from the gray mist. They had to be wiped out in one decisive strike, followed by dispersing the mist.

Using a divine telescope, Phield observed the surroundings and marked up a crude map.

"The number of corrupted corpses has probably reached the peak population of Starnight City."

Alice instinctively asked, "How many would that be?"

"About one hundred thousand."

"One hundred thousand!" Alice nearly lost her soul from fright. "You’re courting death. These aren’t humans. They don’t fear anything and cannot be routed. They must be completely exterminated."

Phield shrugged casually. "Alright, no more jokes. The real number is around ten thousand. Doesn’t that feel better? Ninety thousand enemies gone just like that."

"It actually does."

The surrounding Divine Chosen wiped their sweat, caught between laughter and helplessness, yet encouraged by Phield’s relaxed attitude.

"Also, the corrupted corpses are not all concentrated beneath us. They’re scattered across the walls and buildings, which significantly weakens their nurical advantage."

Everyone nodded in agreent.

In truth, Phield was extrely tense. The hand gripping his sword trembled slightly, veins bulging from the strain.

"As long as we hold the first wave, they won’t be a threat anymore."

If they could not even defeat ten thousand corrupted corpses here, how would they face Agnes’s future tide?

This ti, Phield had mobilized nearly all of Nightfall Domain’s forces.

Two hundred veterans, one hundred newly recruited archers, Rosalia’s second tier Corrupted Greatsword Warriors, and all Divine Chosen except Charlotte, who lacked combat ability.

Additionally, one hundred slaves were assigned support roles such as repairing defenses, transporting arrows, and boiling water.

Even with a ten ter high wall, Phield felt no sense of security.

This was not a world without supernatural power. Who knew what abilities the corrupted corpses might possess? And by holding the walls, they could not make use of their cavalry advantage.

With a sharp clang, Phield drew his sword and leapt onto a high platform.

"Soldiers, listen!"

"As long as the monsters in this city exist, you will never know peace."

"Everything you’ve worked for, your families, are under constant threat."

"But today is the day you fight to protect your future. Slaughter every corrupted corpse in this city, so your children can live under the sun with dignity, not like livestock!"

"Hold the walls and fight to the death. Do not retreat!"

Before his words even finished, the soldiers were already roaring in excitent, raising their weapons like madn.

Many had lost comrades here. They had seen friends torn apart. They would never allow that tragedy to befall their own families. Even against enemies far outnumbering them, they showed no fear.

"Fight to the death!"

"Fight to the death!"

Beside them, Alice was shaken by the overwhelming montum. Watching Phield’s commanding presence filled her with complex emotions.

Her forr lord had never inspired soldiers like this. He always stayed in the safest place, and any dissatisfaction was t with harsh scolding.

She had never imagined that the weak lord she once looked down on, the man her family saw as a disgrace for helping the poor, would display such a stark contrast in battle.

Below the walls, the corrupted corpses had already been stirred. Their savage eyes turned upward as they searched for the source.

Phield wasted no ti. With a swing of his sword, he roared, "Prepare to fire."

The creaking sound of drawn bows echoed as the newly recruited archers strained their grips, their knuckles turning white.

The slaves raised the stones they had prepared in advance.

"First tier divine skill, Arcane chanism Overload!"

The little fox Gogris cast her skill on the defensive ballistae. At the sa ti, her domain ability manifested as a stream of light, enveloping the walls in a mysterious glow.

Gogris domain buff granted a ten percent defense increase to the walls.

"Fire!"

At Phield’s command, the enhanced ballistae activated first.

Brilliant bolt-like energy slamd into the densest cluster of corrupted corpses below the wall. Explosions of flesh erupted, accompanied by bursts of blood mist, completely igniting their fury.

Roars echoed endlessly as every corrupted corpse locked onto its target.
