"A club fest?"
Lucien asked, confused about them. "What is that?"
"It’s basically a small fest held over in the Academy, where the seniors would try to recruit the first-years in their respective clubs."
William explained, not going into details.
"Hmm..." Lucien pondered and asked William curiously, "What club are you joining?"
"Heh!" William chuckled, making Lucien roll his eyes. "I would look around for the one with the most girls."
’I should’ve known.’
Sigh!
Lucien sighed.
"What about you?" William asked back.
"Sothing that would help grow." He answered.
This ti, William sighed.
The conversation moved on, and soon, it died down.
As they ran out of topics to talk about, Lucien spoke less and less, which just made the conversation boring for both of them.
"I am heading out, Lucien," William said, standing up.
"Do you want to go train?" Lucien asked out of nowhere, making Lucien Pause.
William thought, but his answer was rather imdiate, "Heh! Why not?"
...
August 15th, 1513; 11:00 hrs;
"That’s it for today, class," Gary shouted and clapped, making everyone stop.
Gary never clapped unless he had sothing to announce.
Half of them could guess what it was, though.
Electives.
"Today, nobody has their class mandatory subjects."
Everyone secretly celebrated, but none showed it on their face.
There were three types of subjects that they had.
Mandatory, class mandatory, and electives.
Mandatory subjects included those subjects that everyone, regardless of their class or departnt, had to attend.
This only included Spirit Theory and History for first-year cadets.
Class mandatory subjects were the ones that were mandatory for everyone in a certain class.
Combat Conditioning was a class mandatory subject for the Warriors and Sorcerers.
Similarly, Core Circulation & Body Reinforcent, Weapon Mastery, and Mobility & Terrain Adaptation were the class mandatory for the Warrior class in the first sester.
And lastly, an Elective subject was sothing that anyone could choose, regardless of their class or departnt.
In the past week, everyone was only attending the mandatory and class mandatory subjects, but it was ti for the electives.
"Today, you would be attending all the elective(s) you have chosen." A female professor spoke from behind Gary.
Professor Caitlyn Moore.
Dark brown hair, scholarly glasses over her hazel eyes, and relatively taller than most girls present there.
She was the professor in charge of the Sorcerers in Combat Conditioning.
She was absent for an entire week for so unknown reason, which was why Gary was handling them all alone.
But it ended today.
Sorcerers finally had soone more familiar with their fields.
"I am sure everybody has chosen their electives properly, since each one of those would affect your overall grades."
Which basically ant that the less you choose, the better.
A wave of nervous mumblings and murmurs washed over the entire class, leading to a small chaos.
Lucien also nodded with everyone, but was secretly bitter about it.
He had only chosen one, but the other one was forced on him.
Political Etiquette and Diplomacy.
What kind of subject was that?
Last week, when he submitted his choice of elective, he received an additional thod along with the confirmation ssage.
There were orders from the Palace for him to have this elective, no matter what.
Even if he had chosen 3 electives, which was the theoretical maximum, he was obliged to do the Etiquette class as the fourth.
’Damn you, Ophelia.’
He knew it couldn’t be Gerald or Maria who forced it on him.
And there was a reason why it stated that the order was from the Palace, and not the King.
"Today, everyone gets to attend each one of their electives, and see if they like it or not."
Caitlyn announced, and Gary added, "Today would be the last day when you can edit your electives.
"After today, everyone would receive their schedules, and it would be final for the entire sester, so be completely honest with yourselves."
The words tensed a few people, who wanted to play around a bit.
It wasn’t worth the marks degradation.
Even the professors knew how they were thinking.
It had been historically a fact that nearly 90% of students always ended up with one elective, despite half of them applying for more.
9% of them ended up with two electives, and only 1% of the cadets had three electives.
Either those 1% were extrely smart or downright stupid.
There was no in-between there.
Gary and Caitlyn saw this chaos and smirked aningfully at each other, seemingly enjoying their confusion and anxiety.
"Reach your Elective class in 30 minutes at the latest. Class dismissed."
They didn’t even bother quieting those kids, letting them panic about their electives.
Lucien shook his head and waited for William.
William didn’t even bother with choosing his own.
He just took what Lucien took and was done with it.
Artifact Handling and Theory.
Lucien chose this to study more about Artifacts and ultimately, learn more about Arenox.
...
The classroom wasn’t like the typical lecture halls Lucien and others had sat in the past week.
This one was semi-circular, tiered like an amphitheater, with a podium in the center dais.
Massive bookshelves lined up behind the podium, holding books, blueprints, and a few diagrams on massive papers, encased behind glass panels.
The room was old and full of stories, which was evident in the air itself.
It had a sharp tang of old tal and worn leather.
Students were constantly pouring in from behind and taking up their seats.
Lucien and William also entered, their eyes trailing the blueprints and papers right behind the Chalkboard, and their nose twitching from the sll.
The students around him belonged to all the different classes, be it the support departnt, the theory departnt, or the combat departnt.
Of course, Lucien and William were going towards the middle of the rows, the least attention-grabbing spot.
Kyaa!
Suddenly, Lucien spotted sothing in the corner of his eyes and reacted instantly.
Soone was falling down, and their head was about to hit the corner of one of the benches.
Thud!
Uff!
Lucien stretched out his legs and placed them on the corner.
The girl who was about to hit the corner fell face-first on soone’s boots.
William also moved right after Lucien and caught the girl before she fell on the ground.
After they saved her, they were finally able to see who it was.
Pink hair, pink eyes, and a ton of makeup.
Vivienne Vernoux.
But their attention was soon attracted to the next big thing.
Lucien’s shoes.
