Chapter 538: Chapter 538 The Shocking Truth
Shao Xu once again spoke, and he could clearly notice the change in his voice:
“It surprises , Uncle is very pleased with your choice, but I must ask one more ti before confirming, have you decided?”
Uncle…
This endearnt had ward Lin Xiao’s heart considerably, and he nodded seriously:
“I have decided.”
“Very good, your main task now is to investigate the disappearance of the Ancient gods. Leave the rest to Uncle. Rest assured, Uncle will secure the greatest benefits for you.”
The voice faded, and after a while, Shen Yuexin spoke to him timidly:
“My dad has left.”
“Have you really decided?”
He held her hand and smiled:
“What do you think?”
It was a well-considered choice by Lin Xiao to pay such a high price to exchange an Innate Origin for his girlfriend, for several reasons.
Firstly, the most valuable treasure in the Star Soul Crystal Wall System was this very thing; no other treasure could compare.
Second, to flatter his future father-in-law, making it easier to wield influence by borrowing his great divine power, which was more influential than he had imagined. Without his future father-in-law stepping in, it would’ve been virtually impossible for him to exchange for two Innate Origins from the Human Overlord.
As it turned out, his decision was the right one. The mont he spoke out, he clearly felt a change in his future father-in-law’s tone. With his future father-in-law’s approval, marrying his girlfriend and becoming the son-in-law of a superpower in the Main World called Radiance seed like a breeze.
In the Star Soul Crystal Wall System, after receiving the ssage from his True Body, Lin Xiao knew what to do.
But before that, he needed to deal with that Nightmare child nad Yarji and destroy their main city in the Under World.
As for the remnants of the Ancient god’s flesh in this Bottomless abyss, he had yet to bother with them.
The will of the Ancient gods had already departed, and these remnants of flesh retained only residual instinct, scattered into countless entities. If one day, one of these many disparate creatures evolved into a super powerful one by devouring the other flesh, it might give rise to a trendously powerful evil being.
But they had no chance now. Lin Xiao, having discovered them, certainly wouldn’t stand by idly. He planned to devour these remnants of the Ancient gods with a Black Hole, converting them into a ga-sized team dungeon.
The remnants contained imnse energy that could be transford into various top-tier dungeons, producing T6 or T7 Level equipnt. The remnants of the Ancient gods were more than sufficient to continuously generate Orange legendary equipnt.
One day, players leveling in the Setek Basin suddenly felt the Earth trembling violently. The demons and Magic creatures scattered across the basin fled in terror, as if struck by a fear spell, and a sense of impending doom rose from deep within the Earth.
Players mounted their flying mounts and ascended into the sky, only to see the land within the basin cracking open, gray fog and white vapors erupting from the fissures, distorting, fracturing, and deforming the Earth. Large swathes of ground collapsed and sank, swallowing countless demons who had fallen into the cracks unwittingly.
This continued for three days before the quaking finally began to subside. However, the vast Setek Basin had already collapsed and deford, with several gaps forming in the surrounding mountain ranges. It was no longer a dead end; players from the Hellfire plains could now fly through these gaps in the Hell’s Wall Mountain Range to enter the basin or travel to other regions.
Soon, players discovered that the massive pit in the center of the Setek Basin no longer emitted deadly miasma, and the Demon Killers that perpetually spawned at the edge of the pit had vanished.
Adventurous players ventured into the depths of the pit and found a void at the bottom, housing an imnse subterranean space stretching over a thousand kiloters, devoid of monsters.
Yet, within the Purgatory Float Land fragnts at the heart of the Demon Suppression Fortress, nurous team dungeons of various sizes had appeared quietly.
This change went unnoticed for so ti, even the Moon Soar Guild mbers were initially unaware until it was gradually discovered by others.
By this ti, Lin Xiao had already left the vast subterranean space beneath Setek quietly, entering deeper into the Under World through a certain passage.
He cast an invisibility spell upon himself, concealing all his auras, and passed by, unseen by the Undead as well as various subterranean creatures.
A few days later, as he passed by an underground river, he saw a group of Nightmare players surrounding and attacking a ten-plus-ter-long, level 77 Enhanced elite crocodile. Dozens of Nightmare players around level 65 cooperated seamlessly, with heavily armored MTs at the front, Priests frantically healing, and DPS relentlessly attacking.
Not far from the riverbank was a Nightmare players’ fortress, with many Nightmare players coming and going within. Along the riverbank, nurous Nightmare players watched the battle.
Although they were ten levels apart, their teamwork was impressively good. As long as the MT could withstand the attacks, they could win the fight, and it seed certain this giant crocodile was dood.
But then, Lin Xiao gave a faint smile, flicked his finger, and a streak of invisible black light shot out, landing in the river, silently touching the giant crocodile and rging into its body. The next mont, the crocodile let out a massive roar, and thick streams of black light enveloped it. Its body swelled visibly with each passing second, and on the creature’s status bar appeared a new buff—
Berserk of Destruction: Physical and Magic Attack 500%, Attack Speed and Spell Casting Speed 200%, Moving Speed 100%, recovers 5% of maximum Health every second, lasts for thirty minutes.
The crocodile, in its destruction berserk state, dealt six tis the damage with a single slap, instantly killing the main MT who was caught off guard, biting the sub MT in half with one bite, and pressing forward with its massive body to flatten the remaining two MTs and two Furious Warriors in seconds, leaving the Nightmare players with no ti to react as the lee fighters died off.
Then, like a wolf amongst sheep, the crocodile easily picked off the remaining players one by one, before charging towards other players nearby.
An hour later, along with a roar, the spire at the center of this Nightmare player fortress collapsed, signifying the fortress’s destruction.
Lin Xiao didn’t see what beca of the crocodile because he was already tracking so escaping players to other gathering places of Nightmare players by that point.
His perception was incredibly vast, easily sensing the number of players over a wide area. While following a small team of Children of Nightmare through a transfer underground passage, he sensed a large number of Nightmare players beyond one of the passages, but what caught his attention most was a unique presence that did not conceal itself.
It was both a player and an Ancient God!
Two systems that shouldn’t coexist normally were existing here at the sa ti, just as if Lin Xiao, a player, beca a Titan Ancient God. Except the other was achieving True-Body Descend through adventure, while he relied on his own ability (cheat), fundantally similar.
With his Magic Wand, he passed through a short passage, and an enormous underground space ford by dozens of large and small areas encircling it, stretching hundreds of kiloters, appeared before him.
The do was filled with countless hanging stalactites surrounded by white orbs that emitted light to illuminate the underground space group. The ground was littered with jagged rocks and high drops, wrapped in unidentified vines, with monsters occasionally leaping from the shadows of the rocks.
The common mode of transportation for Nightmare players here was a creature that moved on all fours, capable of easily leaping and hopping between the steep cliffs, making the rugged terrain effortless.
In the center of the underground space group, there was a huge flesh and blood city, the edges of its walls adorned with countless thick tentacles waving in the air, with many eyeballs on them. A massive body stood in the center of the main city like a pillar, and in its middle was an enormous eyeball that continuously moved.
Clearly, this Son of Nightmare’s Main City was actually Yarji. Whether it was the city walls or the dancing tentacles, the massive body at the center was all part of Yarji.
When Lin Xiao appeared in this underground space group, a scene horrifying enough to chill an ordinary person to the bone occurred; the imnse eyeball in the central pillar of the main city turned towards him, and in the next second, all Nightmare players across the underground space stopped what they were doing. Their expressions frozen, they turned their heads in unison with Yarji to look at him.
Witnessing this scene, a sharp light flashed in Lin Xiao’s pupils, sending two invisible beams across a hundred miles to sweep back and forth over the Nightmare Main City. He couldn’t help but frown and murmur in disbelief,
“This is too crazy!”
He retracted his gaze and reached out. A Nightmare player nearby was forcibly pulled towards him, and this Nightmare player did not show signs of panic but instead looked puzzled and asked,
“I have never seen a powerful human player like you before. You did not sneak across in your True Body either. Who are you?”
Lin Xiao didn’t answer, instead extending a finger and making a slit, tearing open the player’s chest with a sharp aura. The player was cleaved in half from the chest, revealing their internal organs pulsating with a still-beating heart.
Yet the Nightmare player, seemingly without feeling, continued to ask emotionlessly,
“You are even stronger than that Dragon Clan Player. Have you also co by sneaking your True Body?”
In this short exchange, Lin Xiao watched as new flesh sprouted from the Nightmare player’s severed chest, dancing in the air; the sprouts on the split organs touched the other half and quickly secreted a yellow adhesive fluid that repaired the organs in a bizarre manner.
“Truly insane!”
Lin Xiao’s expression was extrely grave, and by now, he had an idea about the strange situation of these Nightmare players.
If he wasn’t mistaken, these Nightmare players had been controlled by this player nad Yarji.
A bolder guess was that Yarji had already assimilated these Nightmare players, and now all the Nightmare players with odd expressions that he saw were rely minor incarnations of Yarji.
A mad speculation, but it must be the truth.
Normally, these Nightmare players behaved like regular players—they could die and respawn and communicate normally. But when necessary, Yarji could imdiately regain control and command all players.
But for Lin Xiao, this was not the scariest scenario. For him, Yarji was just a demigod who had sneaked across in their True Body. Their level wasn’t even as high as his two subordinates, let alone his True Body. If he wished, Lin Xiao could descend in his True Body and squash Yarji with a finger.
He was worried that there might be so sinister plot of the Nightmare Sovereign involved.
Controlling so many players, the Nightmare Sovereign would definitely notice and couldn’t possibly be unaware, which ant that all of this was sanctioned by the Nightmare Sovereign.
The Nightmare Sovereign allowed this trespasser to assimilate and control tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of players. What was he planning to do?
“Like ?”
The Human Overlord had Lin Xiao, the Titan Ancient God as an ally, and the Nightmare Sovereign couldn’t stop him, so was he looking for a new ally to deal with him?
This guess seed quite true, but Lin Xiao still felt it wasn’t that simple.
