Chapter . 58

“Nanette.”

Nanette, who stays in her room when tricky hands co so as not to attract too much attention since she is still young, ca out quickly at my call.

“Yes, Prince?”

“This mage is now my mage. She will live with us.”

“Yes.”

Nanette nodded.

“I would like you to give her a na.”

Nanette looked back at the mage, paused, tilted her head, and asked.

“Yolande?”

At that, the red-haired beauty’s charm magic broke. She was still beautiful, but not to the bewitching extent as before.

“Sister!”

Nanette rushed in and hugged her tightly. Yolande hugged her back as well.

“I am sorry, Prince.”

However, Yolande soon pushed Nanette away and spoke.

“The young lady rushed in and I ended up embracing her. I apologize for touching the young lady’s body.”

“Sister!”

Nanette was startled and grabbed the hem of Yolande’s robe, but Yolande only looked at .

“It seems the young lady has misunderstood. My na is not Yolande, but Evelyn.”

“Do you take the child for a fool? What misunderstanding.”

Michelon spoke sarcastically. Sir Rolf also looked wary. There was nothing more unpleasant to people than when sothing like charm magic was dispelled.

“But…….”

I asked Nanette, who was on the verge of tears.

“Nanette, did you think this mage was your separated sister?”

“…….”

Nanette could not answer. She was a smart child, so she realized her sister was doing this on purpose. However, since she did not know why, as a child who had only thought everything was fine because I was by her side, she did not know what to do.

“However, the mage sister might have lost her mory.”

When I spoke, Yolande glared at , but she quickly lowered her gaze. For the one second she glared, she looked like Master, which was regretful.

“…Is that so?”

“Yes, but mories can be recovered, so do not worry. However, since it will be hard for Nanette while we wait, shall we call you by the na Yolande?”

“Yes!”

Nanette answered vigorously, but Yolande hardened her face.

“My na is Evelyn.”

“Are you intending to rebel against the will of the Prince you said you would serve?”

Michelon asked sharply. Michelon, who acted without reserve toward , was very sensitive about my authority with other people.

When Yolande hesitated, I spoke.

“Nanette is the daughter of my nanny. Unless her wish is sothing bad, I always grant it. You, too, should treat Nanette preciously.”

“…Yes, Prince.”

“…If Sister does not want to be called Yolande, you do not have to.”

Nanette said dejectedly, reading the room.

“This child is also my younger sister. Do not discourage the child.”

Michelon glared.

“…You may call

Yolande.”

At Yolande’s words, Nanette smiled brightly.

“Then, since a new person has co to the Prince’s residence after a long ti, how about the two of you spend so ti alone so that you can beco close with Nanette, who is also female?”

Sir Rolf, who did not take his eyes off Yolande, suggested.

Sir Rolf’s eyes had also widened when Yolande hugged Nanette. He had noticed sothing, but he had not yet withdrawn his suspicion.

“Yes, Yolande, let’s go to my room and play. Sleep in the sa room with !”

As Nanette quickly grabbed and pulled Yolande’s hand, Yolande glanced at us but went where Nanette led her.

It happened to be alti. Nanette and Yolande decided to eat separately in Nanette’s room. Following Nanette’s wish to help Yolande feel comfortable.

The three of us ate in the dining room. As always, dismissing the servants and maids who brought the al.

While eating, Michelon picked up a decorative silver salt container placed on the table and spoke.

“Oh, for His Majesty the Emperor to bestow a mage upon the Prince, what great favor this is!”

The salt container was one of the eavesdropping artifacts placed throughout the residence when Desmond gave it to . When Michelon passed the salt container to Sir Rolf, Sir Rolf also chid in.

“That is correct. I understand this is the first ti His Majesty the Emperor has bestowed a mage like this.”

“No, then, do you an he has never bestowed mages upon the other princes at all?”

“That is correct.”

“That is truly surprising! If I were them, I would be truly envious!”

“They are excellent people. Surely they would not be envious and jealous.”

“Indeed, that must be so!”

Having sparred together, the two of them were getting along better and better.

“Haha, everyone already has more mages than I do. I have only just acquired one.”

When I pretended to be humble, Michelon spoke.

“There is nothing to worry about. Didn’t Her Majesty the Empress promise to bestow a big reward upon the Prince anyway? Perhaps that reward might also be a mage.”

“Co to think of it, Her Majesty the Empress promised a big reward in front of people. I think it is about ti she bestowed it.”

“Indeed, how big of a reward is she planning to give that she is dragging out the ti for so long? Everyone must be expecting it.”

“According to rumors, Prince Desmond is speaking well to Her Majesty the Empress, saying she should bestow a bigger reward.”

“Is that true? I seem to have heard the opposite.”

“Oh my, do you an Prince Desmond tried to stop Her Majesty the Empress from bestowing a reward upon Prince Leontes?”

“It is all nothing but rumors. Prince Desmond is an excellent person, so the rumor I heard must be wrong.”

“That must be so. If Her Majesty the Empress finally bestows the reward, we will finally know which rumor is correct.”

These words would be conveyed intact through the eavesdropping artifact on the silver plate brought by the servant of the First Prince faction. Then we could make the First Prince faction participate in the pressure toward the Empress faction.

When I first discovered the eavesdropping artifacts spread all over my residence, I was so angry that I thought about getting rid of them all.

But upon closer inspection, they were all good items, so it was a waste to throw them away.

‘Just the magic contained in these, how much is it all? If I confiscate them after ascending to the throne, the national treasury will burst.’

So it was quite fun to play with all the expensive things together. It was also good for leading public opinion as we wished.

We played with the artifacts installed in every room, and when we had important conversations, we infused them with pre-prepared noise instead. Snoring sounds like napping, poetry recitation sounds, sounds of Nanette singing, laughter, sounds of dropping things… It was enough to make it hard to hear by roughly inserting noise with chitchat in between.

“It is certain she is Nanette’s sister, but what could be the reason she tries to hide it?”

After using the enemies to shape public opinion, Sir Rolf asked as we began our own conversation.

“Yolande is in a position where she has no choice but to be careful. The charm magic might have been an Imperial order, but it might also have been to test Nanette.”

“To know if Nanette is really an anti-magic user or not?”

Michelon asked back in disbelief.

“Anti-magic cannot nullify all magic. A mage with strong mana can resist anti-magic, and it is even more so if there are multiple mages. In my opinion, Yolande is strong enough to block even Nanette’s nullification. She simply did not resist.”

“Then what, does she think we brought so other girl and dressed her up as Nanette to lure her? By casting charm magic or sothing? When we don’t even have a mage?”

Michelon said so while examining my face. He ant that she might have discovered the fact that I was a mage.

“In Yolande’s mind, we are not without thods. Like asking Brother Alexander.”

“But we didn’t even know that Nanette’s sister was among His Majesty the Emperor’s mages. Yolande seems to have sowhat of an obsession with her younger sister’s safety. Although I understand it.”

“She might have seen, heard, or experienced sothing similar.”

I nodded at Sir Rolf’s conjecture.

Not only that, there must be sothing binding Yolande to Imperial Father. A device sufficient to reassure him that she would not be swayed even if he sent a useful mage as a spy to an enemy.

“Nanette is with us, so is another family mber held hostage?”

“Husband?”

I blurted out at Michelon’s guess. The incident where I heard Master’s husband died had not happened yet.

“She seed unmarried?”

“I saw it that way too. She didn't seem like soone who would marry before finding her sister.”

I nodded as well, but Michelon, who had brought it up, shook his head again.

“What use is it for three unmarried n to worry about whether a woman is married or not; how can we guess correctly?”

That was true. A mage does not have distinctive attire for married won like noble ladies do.

“There must be so hidden contract. Between the mage and the forr master.”

Michelon spoke with flashing eyes, and Sir Rolf and I nodded too. If we did not find that out, we could not save Master.

“Then what should we do? We cannot just sit the mage down like a normal person and proceed by saying we will help if she tells the truth, can we? She will suspect us even more of trying to use , a mage.”

Sir Rolf’s words were correct.

So we called Nanette out first.

“Nanette, it is ti to study. Yolande, inspect the surroundings of the residence with Sir Rolf to see if there are any who try to spy on us with magic.”

At my words, the two sisters obediently followed.

That evening, we all gathered in front of the fireplace in the drawing room after finishing our separate als as usual.

“My sister, do you know where I was before I t you?”

Michelon asked Nanette.

“I don’t know. Bad people locked you up, oppa.”

“Right, and yet I could not leave that place.”

“I was like that too. They weren’t bad people, but no one liked .”

Nanette answered fervently.

“But I was released. Because I grabbed the first opportunity and ran away. Looking for freedom.”

Nanette nodded vigorously.

“Now Michelon oppa is free.”

Saying that, Nanette looked at Yolande with earnest eyes.

“Sister Yolande too.”

Yolande only smiled. Without even nodding, her face with a forced smile was pale.

“Those are beautiful words. Yolande, would you write those two people’s words with magic?”

At my words, Yolande answered.

“I will do as you command, Prince.”

“Do as you wish. If you do not wish it, you do not have to do it.”

“…How could I not follow the Prince’s words.”

Yolande turned her head, took out her staff, and wrote golden letters in the air.

“It’s beautiful!”

Nanette rejoiced at the sight, which looked like embroidery stitched with gold thread on transparent cloth floating in the air. A smile appeared on Yolande’s face for a mont.

“Continue, keep speaking, Nanette. Since Yolande will write it all with magic.”

When I spoke, Nanette said happily.

“If Sister is trapped, I will hold your hand and bring you out.”

Saying that, Nanette showed off a simple dance move. While pretending to run holding hands.

“If Sister is tied, I will cut it all and bring you out.”

Nanette firmly mimicked cutting with a knife. As if cutting a rope.

“So say you want to co out.”

Right now, Nanette was proceeding toward the essential condition of Word Soul Magic as I led her.

The subject must say they wish for it. It is effective only when the subject speaks freely by their own will without being coerced. It can be induced, but it must be natural. It is not unreasonable that people say Word Soul Magic is not magic for this reason.

But even without knowing magic, she was an anti-magic girl who diligently followed my lead to save her sister. The pure wish to convey her heart to her sister, the desperate heart that believed a small hope would co true soday if spoken aloud, beca the seed of Word Soul Magic that even an anti-magic user could perform.

Magic that would move even a mage by itself.

At so mont, Yolande’s staff stopped. She was no longer writing Nanette’s words in golden letters in the air.

Nanette’s eyes blurred.

“If you want it, take it, Nanette.”

I said, pointing to the golden letters.

“If you want it, it is yours.”

“But… Sister does not wish for it.”

Nanette said, choking up.
