Chapter 93: Final Exams (2)

"All 998 cadets have arrived, so we will now begin the practical exam."

I had arrived at the practical exam site via the portal. I looked up at the sky, hearing a voice emanating from sothing that looked like a floating drone.

"I wish you all the best of luck so that everyone can achieve satisfactory results."

In contrast to the blunt voice, the instructor offered warm words of encouragent. I could tell who the owner of that voice was.

'Is he acting as a proctor?'

It seed Im Seong-cheol had taken on the role of proctor for this exam. Co to think of it, it was a natural personnel placent. With Im Seong-cheol’s level of skill, he was a force that could certainly be deployed in the event of an unexpected situation.

'Well, unfortunately, that will not be possible.'

Glory would eventually lose control of the barrier protecting the island. That ant the instructors would only be able to intervene much later. Therefore, it did not particularly matter how Glory had arranged its personnel. What was the point of knowing about a force that would not even be able to co to the rescue?

"So, I should start coming up with my own plan."

The only available forces were the cadets currently on the island. To minimize casualties among them, a plan was absolutely necessary.

"First, I need to figure out where I landed."

The reason I had not made a plan in advance was simple. Since we were dropped in random locations, I had to base my plan on my own position. Thus, I intended to create a detailed plan starting now. With that thought, I took a quick look around.

"Haha. It is unnecessarily beautiful."

This place was about to beco a real battlefield, but it truly was lovely. In front of

was a pristine white sandy beach that had barely been touched by humans. Behind

was a vast, towering forest. The scenery was beautiful enough to montarily captivate the heart.

"Well, for now, am I in the East?"

However, I could not spend all my ti admiring the scenery. I quickly looked over the surrounding terrain, recalling the descriptions from the novel. As a result, I was able to determine that my current location was to the east of the center of the island.

"In that case, the person I should et up with first is Ju Ha-yeon."

Kim Su-hyeok was to the north, Ha Eun-ha to the south, and Ryu Jin-oh to the west. Do Gang-ho had dropped out of the academy at this ti, and I was not sure about Oh Jin-eon since he was not a major character. As for Ha Eun-ha, she was actually supposed to face an early elimination, so I did not think I needed to worry too much about her.

'But it really is sothing.'

How did the author think to separate all the major characters like this? If even just one or two had been placed together, the casualties would have been at least a bit lower. A deep sense of regret regarding the original work rose within , but...

"I should just accept it for what it is."

I decided to just let it go. Thinking about such things would only give

a headache. Therefore, I decided to focus on the content I would create myself, rather than the original work.

"So, for now, it is Ju Ha-yeon, but..."

This was a bit tricky. To be honest, I had been praying that I would not end up in the East. If anyone were to ask why I had such a reaction, the answer was simple.

"It is the most awkward."

I was in a relatively close relationship with Kim Su-hyeok and Ha Eun-ha. And after acting together once with Ryu Jin-oh, it was not as awkward as I had expected. But Ju Ha-yeon was different.

"I have barely even spoken to her."

This was no exaggeration; we really had almost never talked. Even if I added up every word we had exchanged since we t, it probably would not even amount to ten sentences. Perhaps that was why I felt a bit of a tricky sensation.

"...Sigh. But what can I do? It is not like I can live without ever talking to her."

A sense of regret that I should have beco closer to her sooner surfaced, but there was nothing I could do about it now. I would just have to make an effort to get closer to her this ti.

"Then it would be best to move for now."

The villains would attack on the third day. Although there was still ti left, I had no ti to waste. Is ti not sothing that should be utilized as much as possible while you have it? Thinking that, I checked my na tag.

"It should be ti for the update."

The function of the na tag was not just for identification. I had ntioned before that the location information was periodically exposed to prevent students from hiding. The na tag had a function that allowed one to check that location information. After waiting a mont for the location info to appear...

[Location information has been updated.]

"Okay."

Just as I had thought, the location information was uploaded not long after. At that notification, I imdiately pressed the button to unfold the map of the island.

"Everyone is moving toward the interior."

On the map, white dots were moving in real ti. Most of them were moving toward the forest, where guerrilla warfare was easier. It was a correct decision, as the area around the beach was easy to spot.

"The problem is that I do not know who the owner of the na tag is..."

This literally only provided the location, so I did not know who was at the spot marked by a dot. It was a asure to prevent students from running away from strong cadets. Therefore, after contemplating for a long ti where Ju Ha-yeon might be...

"Good. I will go here."

I eventually decided on my destination. Unlike the other dots that were all moving quickly, one dot was moving sowhat sluggishly. I would move toward this dot. Of course, I was not moving purely based on intuition.

'I recall that Ju Ha-yeon does not like sweating or things like that.'

It was said that while she did not have a germophobia, she had a very clean personality. Considering that, this dot was surely the most likely candidate.

"Good. Then shall we go?"

Once the decision was made, there was only one thing left to do, right? I had to move imdiately. No matter what happened later, it would be right to et up with a major force first and then think. With that final thought, I imdiately ran into the forest.

***

"Ugh! He really holds a grudge!"

At the ti Choi Yu-seong was moving to et Ju Ha-yeon, Ha Eun-ha was wandering through the forest alone, recalling what had happened earlier.

"To tell

to look forward to it! How am I supposed to look forward to that!"

If you were wondering what 'earlier' referred to, it was the conversation she had with Choi Yu-seong before entering the island.

"Even if I was the one who teased him first, was that not a bit too much..."

Well, although she spoke like this, Ha Eun-ha did not actually feel truly hurt. She also knew that Choi Yu-seong had said those words just to tease her back. However, it was also true that she felt a slight sense of anxiety.

"Unlike the others, I do not have any combat talents, so what should I do..."

If Choi Yu-seong really targeted her na tag and attacked her, she had no ans of responding. At most, she could only heal herself while being beaten. In short, Ha Eun-ha’s current situation was that she had defensive ans but no offensive ans.

"Then I need to find soone to team up with..."

The problem was that she did not really feel like doing that. If it were the other club mbers, it would be fine, but she did not want to form a cooperative relationship with a complete stranger. So might ask what the big deal was since it was just a temporary alliance. But for Ha Eun-ha, this was a very natural reaction.

"It is a bit much to be with soone I cannot even trust..."

To begin with, she was not the type of person who trusted others easily. Even though she looked energetic on the outside, her inner self was quite delicate. Just as Ha Eun-ha was seriously contemplating what to do...

[RUSTLE]

The sound of grass ca from a distance that was closer than expected. It was definitely a sound made by soone moving. At that sound, Ha Eun-ha imdiately went into a state of high alert.

'Who is it?'

The exam had only just begun. Yet, for soone to co toward her this quickly...

'They probably saw the location of my na tag and ca here.'

If that were the case, the opponent was one of two types: soone confident enough to win regardless of who they faced, or soone with an incredibly aggressive personality. In truth, neither situation was good for Ha Eun-ha. Was she not the one whose probability of winning was nearly zero regardless of who she faced? Therefore, she could not help but be quite tense.

"Ugh... I hope it is soone I know."

She even thought that it would be better for Choi Yu-seong to appear rather than a stranger. At the very least, there would be room for negotiation with him. A stranger would be stressful just to deal with. However, she could not just stay tense forever. Even if a stranger jumped out, she could not show any weakness. While thinking this, Ha Eun-ha stared incessantly in the direction the sound had co from...

[RUSTLE]

"Re-reveal your identity!!"

In contrast to the resolve she had just made, she shouted and pointed her hand toward the bushes. It was unlikely that an attack would co from those slender hands, but it was her own way of making a threat. Unfortunately, there was no cadet at Glory who would be intimidated by such a threat. As if to prove that, there was not a hint of intimidation in the aura of the opponent who appeared from the bushes. Still, the fortunate part was...

"What. It was you?"

The opponent did not show any intention to attack. After all, the cadet who appeared from the bushes was none other than Do Gang-ho. At that sight, Ha Eun-ha was able to breathe a sigh of relief from her tense chest.

"Tch. I did not expect it to be you. I was chasing the dot that was closest to ."

"Wait? What does that an?"

"What do you think? It ans I was chasing you to take your na tag."

At Do Gang-ho’s words, Ha Eun-ha was startled and covered her na tag. Seeing that, Do Gang-ho looked at her with an expression of disbelief.

"I am not taking it, so do not worry. If I had intended to take it, I would have done so long ago."

"R-really? You are not lying?"

"Yeah. I do not know about later, but for now, I have no intention of taking it."

Even if he said he did not know about later, it ant there was no problem for the ti being. Ha Eun-ha nodded in relief at Do Gang-ho’s words.

"Th-thank you."

"Instead of thanking , just make sure you hide yourself well."

Do Gang-ho responded bluntly to Ha Eun-ha’s expression of gratitude. Rather than being hurt by his manner, Ha Eun-ha gave a hollow laugh to herself.

'He really is clumsy.'

Do Gang-ho was just very clumsy when it ca to human relationships. Ha Eun-ha also knew that he had no bad intentions. He was a friend who was very clumsy but whose heart itself was not bad. Although she had not known him for long, that was the person Do Gang-ho was in Ha Eun-ha’s eyes.

'Wait a minute, is this not an opportunity?'

While continuing her internal evaluation of Do Gang-ho, sothing flashed in Ha Eun-ha’s mind. Do Gang-ho was a friend who, while not very close, was not uncomfortable to be around. And she could guarantee that the people she encountered later would have a 99% chance of being otherwise. In that case...

'I think we could play as a team together.'

In any case, she had difficulty taking the exam on her own. And it was not a bad deal for Do Gang-ho either. It was easy to see if she thought about his combat style.

'Gang-ho definitely uses his fists.'

If he had to fight at a relatively short distance, minor injuries would inevitably occur. In such a situation, would a support-type player not be a great help?

'Good! Then I will draw him in as an ally!'

Having finished that thought, Ha Eun-ha imdiately moved to action.

"Hey, Gang-ho?"

"What now? I have to go quickly."

"No, no. Just wait a second!"

Ha Eun-ha stopped Do Gang-ho, who was about to go on his way, and imdiately explained the strategy she had thought of. She went on at great length about how important the presence of support was and how it would definitely be a help to him, making it so Do Gang-ho could not refuse. Fortunately, Do Gang-ho nodded at Ha Eun-ha’s words.

"It certainly seems like it would be okay to move together."

"Right? Besides, there are not many people who have support abilities as good as mine."

"...I will just take your word for it."

"Hey! I am serious!!"

"Then how do we divide the na tags we take? One to one?"

"You are ignoring ... Well, for na tags, why don't we just split them half and half?"

"Fine. Let's do that then. It is not a bad deal if we can compensate for each other's weaknesses."

With those words from Do Gang-ho, the negotiation was over. The negotiation had ended more simply than Ha Eun-ha had expected. Looking at her newly ford ally, Ha Eun-ha smiled to herself.

'With this, even if Yu-seong attacks, there will be no problem.'

He might have ford a team like she did, but for so reason, Ha Eun-ha thought he would not. Of course, the reality was different, but one was free to think whatever they wanted.

'Still, since he said I was pretty, if he apologizes, I will go especially easy on him.'

...Yes. Thoughts were free, after all. At any rate, thus was ford the duo of Ha Eun-ha and Do Gang-ho. They imdiately began to move to chase after other cadets.

Originally, Ha Eun-ha would have suffered an early elimination in the practical exam, and Do Gang-ho would not have even taken the exam due to dropping out at this ti. The flow of the story had now deviated as much as it possibly could.

Now, no one knew how this final exam would unfold.
