Chris couldn’t believe that the prince was sitting before him, but he knew Penelope wouldn’t lie to him.

This was the kind of man Chris expected Penelope to marry, and it made sense that there were extra guards around Penelope.

Penelope felt bad for Chris. His quiet day was being disturbed by a man who wanted to play gas.

"I apologise for not saying his last na sooner. I don’t want it to get out yet that I have married the prince. He doesn’t deserve your kindness, but could you please keep it a secret from everyone else? I want to tell them myself," said Penelope.

"Your secret is safe with . I should get back to wrapping your order," Chris said, walking away from the table.

Penelope’s smile fell when Chris’s back was turned to her. "You must apologise to him and do it now. I said I did not want to be part of your ga, and now look at what you have done. Apologise to him and make it sincere."

"You have ruined all the fun," Tyrion said as he stood up.

"It is not fun to hurt anyone’s feelings. Would you like to toy with your feelings?" Penelope asked, tempted to do so.

"Yes," Tyrion answered.

"Go," Penelope motioned to Chris.

This could all be forgotten as long as Tyrion apologised now.

Tyrion walked to the counter where Chris stood on the other side.

"If you have co to flaunt your title or ask that I bow to you, I don’t care for any of it. I have work to do," Chris said before Tyrion could trouble him again.

"I apologise for trying to get a rise out of you. It was wrong of ," Tyrion apologised.

Chris looked up and didn’t know what to make of the scene before him. It was as though a child had been sent forward by their mother to apologise.

"I know you don’t want to do this. It’s apparent that she sent you here to apologise, so I don’t want it," Chris said, placing his attention back on his work.

"I wouldn’t apologise if I knew I wasn’t wrong. I noticed your feelings for her and decided to hurt you. It was wrong," Tyrion admitted. "I don’t intend to toy with you anymore."

Chris stared at the alleged prince. He didn’t need an apology, but he would accept it.

"It’s true that I once had feelings for her, but I wasn’t foolish enough to think that I could one day marry her. I did think you weren’t worthy of her, and based on your attire, you were leeching off her wealth, but I was mistaken," Chris confessed to his wrongdoings.

"That shouldn’t make you feel like what you did was right, but I understand. I would get jealous over a woman like Penelope. I would say treat her well, but I know Duke Collins will make sure you do it," said Chris.

"Has Miss Lily gotten married?" Chris asked, curious if there were many celebrations.

"Lost one sister, so you’re going for the next? It is a joke. You get annoyed too easily. Lily isn’t married yet, but it may happen soon. The sa can be said for Elijah. The Collinses had a busy season," said Tyrion.

"Elijah will marry? The won here will not like hearing this. They were already upset that he was going to spend the season in Lockwood. It might be best that you don’t share who you are yet. Most of the n with status are either away or married," Chris said, worried about what the ladies would do to be near a prince.

"My wife said that it is quiet here," Tyrion said as he placed money on the counter.

"It is quiet most of the year, but it becos rather hectic when n like yourself arrive. To see a prince, one would have to travel to Lockwood, so the ladies here would be excited to see you. All you need to do is not be swayed," Chris advised Penelope.

"I love my wife. Only my wife," Tyrion spoke with a firm tone.

"I hope that it is true. I am not angry anymore, so you mustn’t stand here with your apology. You are welco in the bakery as long as there are no more gas. It was interesting to et you, Prince Tyrion," Chris said, then turned his back to Tyrion.

"Your baking is good. It is better than so of what I have tasted in the palace."

This made Chris turn around.

"You are still toying with , aren’t you? How could our cake be better than what is done in the palace? Only the best of the best get hired there," Chris said, his brows knitted as he tried to guess if Tyrion was lying.

"That is true," Tyrion nodded. "But there are tis when bakers get hired because they know soone in the palace, so they are sent out not long after. With a new queen, there will be many events, so they will be welcoming more bakers."

"Are you trying to offer a job as an apology?"

"Certainly not. I have already apologised. We are talking about your skill right now," Tyrion clarified. "It is suited for the palace, and right now, your eyes are twinkling. I can put in a good word for you if you wish to go."

"I would love to. How many people could say they have served the royal family? Unfortunately, I must help my father here. The townspeople love our work, and we get travellers coming to see us. I am good here," Chris said, satisfied with a quiet life.

"Besides," Chris continued to say. "How good could the palace be if the first prince isn’t here? First prince? Aren’t you ant to be the king?"

Chris almost dropped the bread in his hands. It had not dawned on him before that when Penelope said the first prince, Chris was speaking to the crown prince.

"Does it take long for news from Lockwood to travel here? It is surprising since the towns are not that far away from each other. Surely you know that the new king is already crowned, and I spoke about a queen. It is right that you stay here," Tyrion said, agreeing with Chris.

"What is that to an?" Chris asked, getting the feeling that Tyrion had insulted him.

"It ans what you think it ans," Tyrion responded as he turned to walk back to his chair.

"Is it settled? Are you two well now?" Penelope whispered, her fingers crossed as she awaited good news.

"It is," Tyrion whispered back. "Am I forgiven now?"

"As long as Chris forgives you, you are. Why do you get so possessive when it is evident that I am yours? I don’t look at other n or care about their feelings. Though it is shocking that Chris once had feelings for ," Penelope said, looking to her right at the young man.

"Penelope," Tyrion’s voice reminded Penelope that she was seated before a jealous man.

Penelope slowly turned to face her husband. "I assure you that it wouldn’t have changed anything. He was always a friend, whilst you were always the one I denied having feelings for. Unless a man oversteps with his feelings, you mustn’t be this way."

"If he oversteps and disrespects our marriage, may I do as I please?"

"They should be dealt with before I do as I please. As my father says, he has a gun and plenty of land to hide soone," Penelope joked.
