Penelope said her goodbyes to Rue and the others, then looked to Lily, who was still deep in talk with Kael.
Kael seed to have noticed Penelope and excused himself from Lily’s side.
Penelope took the mont to approach her sister. "I thought you weren’t happy with him since he did not return. Is it going well?"
"Quite well now that I know he will no longer be a knight. He wants to help with his father’s work. I support his wishes, but the downside is, his work is not near Lockwood. It is closer to the border, which ans that should I accept his hand, I would go far away," said Lily.
Penelope pouted. "We have never been that far from each other."
"I have never been so far away from all of you. I cannot ask him to move closer since his family is there. Truthfully, if he does propose to , I do not mind the move. I would miss you, but it would be new and exciting," Lily said, hoping Penelope would feel the sa way.
"I support your wishes. When we et, we will have to make up for lost ti, not troubling Elijah. We will also have much to share. You must admit that we were never suited to stay in Lockwood forever," said Penelope.
"No, we weren’t. I didn’t think I would be the one to go so far when you have always wanted to travel. Do you think mother and father would support it?" Lily asked, staring at her parents.
"When have they not been supportive? It will all be sorted in due ti once Kael proposes to you, unless he already has," Penelope said, lifting Lily’s hand.
"He has not. He only recently returned, and I want him to properly court . I was almost tempted to make him jealous by entertaining another suitor. He would deserve it for waiting so long, but I won’t do it," Lily decided.
"Jealousy doesn’t always work as we want it to. That is a pretty necklace. Why are you hiding it?" Penelope asked, watching as Lily slipped it back beneath her dress.
"It is a gift which I am not ready for everyone to see. I want to keep Kael’s and I’s matters to myself," said Lily.
"Then, you would need to stop standing beside him each ti you see him. Fortunately, the town will not get to see you be courted by Kael. You will escape the townspeople questioning who he is."
"I did not think of that. It is wonderful," Lily agreed.
Lily was well aware of the kind of man the town envisioned she would marry, and with Penelope marrying a prince, it made matters worse. Lily suspected many were surprised she had not tried to beco queen.
"We must part," Penelope said after spotting her carriage. "I shall see you when you leave Lockwood."
Lily embraced Penelope. "Have fun preparing your ho. Oh, why were you late this morning?"
"Take it from to not believe n when they say they only want to play for a little. They never an it," Penelope said, stepping away from Lily.
"Hug too," Isabelle said, running toward Penelope.
"Oh, we are too different. I wouldn’t mind it," Lil smiled, feigning innocence.
"It does not surprise with all those books you have read. Isabelle, you must be good," Penelope said, giving Isabelle a little squeeze.
"I am always good. I can show you if you take with you," Isabelle suggested, trying to stay with Penelope. Isabelle wasn’t ready to be away from Penelope.
"No. These coming days shall make up for how busy Tyrion and I were after our wedding. When it is over, you may co to stay with Tyrion and for a bit," Penelope promised.
"You cannot go back on your promise," Isabelle said, eager to see Penelope’s ho.
"You don’t ever forget, so I cannot go back on my promise. Lily heard it, so she will be a witness to what I have promised you. I must go," Penelope said, leaning down to kiss Isabelle’s forehead. "There is still much for us to send out of town."
Penelope gave her sisters one last hug and walked to the carriage where Tyrion awaited her. By this ti tomorrow, Penelope would be on her way to her new ho.
Once Penelope and Tyrion were settled into their carriage, they took off for their ho.
Penelope returned ho to the servants carrying out chests filled with her and Tyrion’s belongings, which had been carefully selected to send to the other ho.
"Winston, is it close to being over? Have you ensured that what wasn’t selected stays here? We must have many items left for when we return to Lockwood," said Penelope.
Winston was eager to share the progress. "I have looked over what was placed on the carts. Nothing that was ant to stay has been packed. The servants will be done with their tasks shortly after noon."
"Wonderful. Please see to it that they are all given sothing warm to eat and plenty of ti to rest. They have worked hard to help with this move, which has all been on short notice. Have you spoken to the butler who will work here while you are with us?" Penelope asked as she walked into the ho.
Tyrion remained outside to see what was placed on the carriages and cart.
"Yes. He was already shown to his chamber, and he is settling in. I shall introduce you once he has beco well acquainted with the ho. I assure you that he will do well. I looked into who he worked for before, and there are so reputable families," said Winston.
"I trust your judgent. I am a little surprised you decided to make the move with us. You appeared to be quite comfortable here," Penelope said.
Winston placed his hands behind his back. "Would you prefer that I stay?"
"No, no. With a new ho and new servants, it is good to have a familiar face around, but I don’t want to uproot you from your family," Penelope explained.
"Milady, it is an honour for to serve a princess and a prince closely. I will not hand the job over to anyone so easily. I want to go with you," said Winston.
"Then I will let you co. When my husband cos inside, inform him that I am going to my chamber to rest. We have a long trip ahead of us tomorrow, so please make ti to rest. Please send Matilda to with a glass of water," Penelope instructed Winston.
"Your maid is already in the chamber, sorting out the last of what needs to be sent off. Have a good rest," Winston said, bowing before leaving Penelope’s side.
