Tobias sat down beside Edgar and stared at the altar. "I didn’t imagine a church would be the first place you would take when I wouldn’t be king anymore. I expected a drink or two. I also didn’t expect my mother would be dead."

"If it makes you feel better, I never expected mine would be alive this long," said Edgar.

Tobias chuckled and looked down at his lap. "I can’t argue with you there. There are monts when I am surprised you two managed to get along. It gave hope that the way you two changed, I would be able to have that with my mother."

"I lost the bet. My mother was more stubborn than your mother. I couldn’t get my mother to listen to , not once. I feel relieved that my family doesn’t have to bear with her anymore, but it still hurts to lose a parent," said Tobias.

"I don’t expect you to understand or care since you have tried to kill both your parents. Also, your grandmother, Alessandra’s mother, and you killed her father. You," Tobias said, realising Edgar had a serious problem. "He’s right that prayer can’t help you. I’m a little scared of you."

"Then leave alone," Edgar suggested.

"No, soone has to keep an eye on you, and I was chosen to be that person. You must admit that our fathers did a good deed by having us et each other. Your life would be a bore without . I pestered you to get married, and you did. No need to say thank you," said Tobias.

"Pray and leave out of it," Edgar said, annoyed.

"I always keep you in my prayers, Edgar. You’ve long been my family, and now that our children are together, it is true. You’re fortunate that I always understood you are not the best at showing emotion. You’ve been quite consistent at showing up when I need you," said Tobias.

"What are you doing?" Edgar asked, puzzled by the speech. "I brought you here so you could mourn the loss of your mother."

Tobias sighed. "I’ve been doing just that since I saw her lifeless, and in a way, I’ve been preparing for her death for a long ti. I always knew that it was coming, no matter how much I tried to deny it. Right now, I’m just thinking about what I have to be thankful for."

"I would have been nice to have co here and sit in silence for all the children Hazel and I lost. With Isabelle’s scary birth, did you co here?" Tobias asked, curious if Peter was present then.

"No, I sat by my wife. I don’t want Peter praying over or my family," said Edgar.

"Didn’t he wed Tyrion to Penelope? Didn’t he wed you to Alessandra? At this point, he’s part of your family. You should stop torturing him, but I do see why it is fun," Tobias said whilst staring at Peter. "He should be grateful you didn’t cut off his hand, and it led to him turning his life around."

Tobias chuckled as he thought about the past. "Oh, to be as young as our children again. We had a very busy youth with you being the duke and being the king. Now we can finally relax. Well, , not you. You’re still going to be the duke for a long ti."

"Thanks," Edgar muttered.

"It wouldn’t surprise if you hand the title off to Elijah early and go sowhere far with Alessandra. Make the kingdom think that you’re dead. Once all my children are grown, I will join you. We just need to wait for Isabelle and Hailey now," Tobias said, looking forward to the day.

Tobias frowned as sothing dawned on him. "I’m going to hate seeing my little girl go out to the n of this town in search of a husband."

"I’m going to enjoy it since you didn’t stop pestering . I hope she finds soone who bothers you-"

"Edgar!" Tobias gasped. "Penelope ended up with my wonderful son. You should hope the sa thing happens for Hailey. How long are you going to be angry that I got my wish? Tyrion is a good man. Had the courage to leave the palace for Penelope."

"That’s why I like him," Edgar said.

Tobias coughed as a joke, but soon it turned into sothing concerning.

"You could at least hit my back, you bastard," Tobias said, patting his chest.

"I prefer not to. When did I ever say I disliked your son? Do you have any idea how much money I offered him? I don’t give away money for the fun of it," said Edgar.

"You still act like she picked poorly," Tobias pointed out.

Edgar nodded his head. "I do believe there is sothing wrong with her eyes, but I trust Tyrion can care for her. He moves quite fast to protect her."

"He does," Tobias agreed with Edgar. "Thank goodness he takes after his mother sotis. Well, it is good to know you have accepted him. Now, about this man I see around Lily. What’s happening there? I don’t like it."

"You hate it now that it isn’t your son courting my daughter? I don’t want to hear it," Edgar said, standing up.

Edgar had had enough of the church and had soone else to visit.

Tobias stood up to follow Edgar.

"I know he burns after a while," Peter whispered, watching as the evil in the church walked out.

Peter was relieved to see Edgar leave, but he knew not to be too excited since Edgar was going to co back, and hiding wouldn’t make a difference.

Outside the church, Edgar entered the carriage.

"My little speech in there was cut short-"

"I think you’ve spoken enough for the night," Edgar said, rubbing his temple. "I’ll get you the drink."

"I thought you didn’t want to see drink. You know you love . Before Alessandra, it was ," Tobias said, laughing at Edgar’s reaction. "Despite the many tis I have bothered you, you stuck by my side and never betrayed ."

"You pushed from high places, but still, you’ve been a loyal friend through and through. Then, you brought even more loyal friends. You’ve endured a lot for being loyal to and my family. I want to say thank you," Tobias said, grateful for the friendship.

Tobias wouldn’t have succeeded if not for Edgar’s help. He had a handful of friends who ca running without a question.

"Hmm."

"Hmm? That is all? How does Alessandra survive with you when you lack emotions?" Tobias asked, but he thought nothing of it.

"You’re an annoying bastard, but a good friend. I won’t say it again," Edgar said, wanting the conversation to end.

Tobias’s eyes lit up. He didn’t need Edgar to say it again since it was going to stay in his head. "Good, good. Where are we going now?"

"To see my in-law," Edgar answered.
