"That is true, but the fathers of those won are not Edgar Collins. You have walked in here with a foolish offer which might cost your tongue. Tell why I shouldn’t keep you in here for you to please the n who want to try sothing new?" Victor asked.

"Penelope Collins is my cousin. My mother, Kate Kennedy, is the sister of the duchess," Warren revealed.

"Well," Victor leaned back. "That is interesting, but it doesn’t guarantee Penelope Collins would fall into my hands and why only Penelope? Twins would sell quite well here."

"You mustn’t get too greedy wanting so many of the duke’s daughters," Warren replied.

Victor chuckled. "Is that so? I am curious why you would want to sell your cousin to a man like . I would keep such a lady to myself, and surely you must be aware that she won’t remain a lady under my care."

"Ruin her as much as you want. If I could get the duchess to you as well, that would satisfy . I don’t care what you do with Penelope as long as you keep her hidden away," Warren said, hopeful the stranger would be swayed.

"Let him sit," Victor instructed the n holding Warren. "He is starting to amuse . What has the duke or his daughter done to you?"

"Like I said, my mother is Kate Kennedy. She no longer possesses the ability to walk thanks to what the duke and duchess have done. They have refused to acknowledge as their family from the mont I was born. I want to see each one of them dead," said Warren.

Victor admired the fire fueled by revenge, but he was certain that Warren was going to be killed if he continued to poke at Edgar when he had no power to go up against a duke.

Speaking of taking Edgar’s daughter was easy, but the hard part ca from succeeding in taking her.

"Speaking of taking his daughter could get you killed. I could earn quite a bit for giving him a heads-up. As I rember, your mother married a simple man. He’s no one who can offer you power, which is why you’ve co to . I doubt you can afford my services," Victor said, deciding this from the clothes Warren wore.

"I have co to ask that you would lend money. I would pay it back over ti," Warren promised.

Victor laughed, his interest in Warren reaching a new level. "You want to borrow from ? Have you ever heard what happens to those who can’t pay ?"

"I don’t care to look into it since I will pay you back, and by the ti I am done, you will have Penelope Collins here, sitting on your lap. I have nothing now, but with the money you will offer , I will beco sothing," Warren confidently spoke.

Victor rubbed the fine hairs on his chin.

Warren reminded Victor a bit of himself, but Warren was also foolish.

Warren was unknowingly throwing himself right into the arms of death.

Regardless of how much Warren amused Victor, Victor wouldn’t allow anyone to take money from him and not pay it back. He certainly wouldn’t allow Warren to have Edgar co after him.

"When you borrow money from , if you can’t repay with money, land, or a title, you repay with your soul. I might even take your mother as well, since the town is so curious about what has co of her. Fine," Victor said, deciding to give Warren help.

"It has been so ti since I had a lady at my side. The ones here are just pretending. Out, all of you," Victor ordered the won present.

While Warren had no power to go up against Edgar, Victor had what he considered to be enough power. He had been in the shadows of the red light district, growing powerful over the years.

Many owed Victor money or owed him favours he was waiting to claim. Gaining power in Lockwood was sothing Victor did carefully.

In ti, he would be the one to own all of the red light district.

"Let’s make a deal," Victor said, snapping his finger.

Not long after, a paper was placed before Warren.

"I will give you a little bit of money, you start paying back so of it so we can build so trust, and I will give you more in ti. Along with this, you’re going to bring Penelope Collins to . It will be hard for you to do so, I will be fair to give you so ti to get her," Victor proposed the deal.

"Now that you have my mind filled with nothing but Penelope Collins, I suggest that you don’t fail to bring her to . I’ll have you be the entertainnt for my private custors if you fail . Do we have a deal?" Victor asked, taking a long drag of the cigar before blowing smoke at Warren.

Warren looked at the paper, which had nothing on it. Was he to write everything this man ntioned?

"We have a deal," Warren agreed.

Victor smiled. He liked it when soone carelessly made deals with him. He already knew that he was going to end up owning Warren at so point in the future, but he was open to Warren surprising him by getting Penelope here.

"Sign it," said Victor.

"There is nothing written and nothing to write with," Warren said, looking around for what he would use.

"There will be sothing in ti," Victor replied, motioning for the man behind Warren to aid Warren.

"Wait, wait, wait," Warren repeated, terrified by the sight of a knife.

Warren stood up, but his hand was still grabbed and carelessly cut with the knife. His thumb was then pressed against the blank paper.

"It’s how all deals are done here. This should be enough to start you off," Victor said, tossing Warren a small bag of money. "Co here when you need to pay and when you need more money. When you have Penelope, send word for to collect her."

Warren looked down at the money before him. The pain from where he had been cut was no longer any concern.

Warren picked up the money.

"Warren," Victor said, revealing he knew Warren’s na. "Don’t try to run off after taking my money. I will find you and I will kill you if you take my threats lightly. Do we understand each other?"

Warren nodded his head. "Lockwood is my ho. You can count on never running away."

"Good," Victor clapped his hands. "Go get a lady."
