"That’s surprising to hear because I recall you running out of the training grounds after you threw Teo onto the floor. You were moving quite fast then, or did you forget?" Elijah asked.

"That wasn’t running away from you; it was going to get changed to see my father. You should stop thinking everything is about you, Elijah. What reason would I have to run from a man that I can throw on his buttocks?" Rue asked, starting to move away to go to Lily.

"I don’t know. You’ll have to tell why you were trying so hard to get away from . You can fight the prince, but you can’t fight ?" Elijah asked, knowing there was more to it. "You’re more afraid of my father than the king?"

"Yes. Wouldn’t you agree that I should fear your father as much as I admire him? For the last ti, I left because I had to et with my father. Why does it matter to you why I left?" Rue inquired.

If Elijah got any closer than he was now, Rue felt the growing need to flip him so she could get away, but she wanted to avoid this so she wouldn’t be the one to ruin the duchess’s gathering.

"I am only curious," Elijah replied. "I am curious about the things you do."

"I suggest you don’t be so curious. The ladies who wish to be courted by you will misunderstand and set their jealousy toward . There is already one I would like to behead," Rue muttered.

"Who?" Elijah asked.

"That, I will keep to myself. It doesn’t matter how much I say that we are friends; those ladies will get jealous. I am tempted to steal you since they think a woman like couldn’t have you. Oh, how wrong they are," Rue smiled.

Elijah’s brow raised, his curiosity growing. "You would have ? Would you be so kind as to enlighten on how you would steal ?"

"I’m afraid that I cannot do as you ask. I like to keep my tricks to myself. I planned to be well-behaved whilst I am here with my father, but I think I will have so fun. You must be careful," Rue whispered as she walked by Elijah.

Rue was yet to understand the attraction she held for Elijah, but since it was causing such a stir amongst other ladies, she would have her fun ssing with the other ladies.

"I hope you don’t mind that I will use you to get under the skin of other ladies. I understand not wanting your na attached to mine with pretending to be interested," Rue said, caring for his reputation.

"Rue, I don’t care what anyone thinks of you. If there is anyone speaking down on you because of where you co from, they are to be reported. Never forget," Elijah said.

"Report them?" Rue chuckled. Where was the fun in this when she could torture the person herself?

"That’s not fun. Since you don’t mind that I use your na, I will use you a little," Rue said, her fingers gently brushing against Elijah’s chest.

Rue was mindful that despite not being at her side, her father would keep a close eye on her. She didn’t need her father to misunderstand what occurred between her and Elijah.

Though the interaction wasn’t noticed by Rafael, it was noticed by Ally.

Ally didn’t understand why Elijah would allow such a close interaction with Rue when she was also one of his sisters’ friends. He said her friendship with his sisters didn’t matter, but Ally still thought it did.

Ally watched as Rue ca to stand with the other ladies. She didn’t an to stare, but she was curious how Rue was able to get so close to Elijah.

"Was my brother bothering you, Rue?" Penelope asked as she walked over to where her friends stood. "I heard from Tyrion that my brother thinks he could beat you in a fight. Please humble him."

"I think your husband made that up and wanted to see throw your brother onto the floor," Rue replied.

Penelope glanced at Tyrion, where he stood with her father and Rafael. "I believe it is sothing he plotted. Perhaps he should be the one you throw onto the floor. I wouldn’t be upset with you."

"Do not tempt , Penelope. I would consider it," said Rue.

"You seem to be close to Elijah," Ally pointed out. "Is it because you see him in the palace these days? Does the palace feel dangerous?"

"I see him from ti to ti in the palace, but I have always been close to Elijah as you all are. I do not see the palace as dangerous, but it is full of many fools," Rue answered. "It is surprising that I haven’t stabbed anyone."

"Penelope, will you never step foot into the palace again?" Isabelle asked, hoping it wasn’t so. She wanted to visit the palace with Penelope, who was now a Castro.

"At this mont, no. I would only go if there is sothing Tyrion would like us to attend, but the chances of that are low. He doesn’t tell of any trouble the court made as of late regarding our marriage, but they are still an issue," Penelope said.

Penelope would like to make a few visits with Tyrion to the palace to see his family, but it was still too dangerous.

"My father keeps saying that the court won’t be an issue anymore in a few days, so perhaps it will soon be safe for you to visit," Rue assured Penelope. "I can guard you whenever you visit."

"It is not only the court that Tyrion worries about. Since the palace is so big, there are many enemies around. He is aware of those inside the court, but it is hard to tell who else plots against us. There are other balls and gatherings," Penelope said, not missing what was held inside the palace.

"Queen Hazel will soon have a gathering for ladies around the town. Will you not attend the gathering? It would be strange not to see you there," said Lily.

"I forgot about the queen’s gathering. I would like to attend," Penelope said, but she doubted Tyrion would like her to attend.

"There is a way for you to convince your husband," Julie said, winking at Penelope. "Or, have you already used it?"

"We must stuff your mouth with sothing," Penelope said, itching to do it.

"What way is there?" Ally asked, wondering why the other ladies laughed. "Why is it that only Isabelle and I don’t know what you speak of?"

"Because you are the innocent ones," Julie replied.

Ally looked around and saw that even Rue knew what the others spoke of. "Why is it so wrong that I was raised as a proper lady?"
