The gnats bowed to , recognizing my superiority. It was fun and jarring to watch them do sothing so human-like, and I couldn't help but smirk.

Experience more on empire

'It does seem that they are intelligent.'

They were close to a thousand when I saw them earlier, my however seed to have cut things down by so much more than half, they weren't beyond two hundreds in numbers at the mont.

I saw so tremble, either that or they fidgeted.

I activated , and with it active, I could probably note sothing important to help communicate with the gnats. gave the ability to note even the tiniest details, details that might elude even my heightened senses.

Soon as I activated it, I saw the world differently, I saw the gnats and even myself differently. The sounds around, from the rodents, bugs and predators all ca pouring into like a waterfall and I felt myself almost drowning in the plethora of stimuli.

Colors were brighter, and darker, I could see the little change between different shades of colors, I could see those that I wouldn't see, even with , and I could see and sll reverence and fear from the trembling gnats.

"That was more like it. What now though?" I questioned, looking around, and hoping to find sothing that would keep the montum going.

[System Notification]

The ding sound it made almost pulled off from my imrsion.

[You have achieved the quest 'Lord of Flies']

[You have received the title]

[You have received the skill and ]

The skill seed straightforward. I had more than an idea, I was pretty certain that it was what I thought it was.

"" I called out, and two long, glassy and transparent wings jutted from my back and fluttered with a steady vibration. The wings had torn through the back of my outfit, beating strongly that it created a pressure that pressed against the muck below. I got above, away from my spot, and with , I saw that none of the gnats dared to look up at . It was interesting.

"Woohoo!" To nobody's surprise, I didn't get the hang of flying with these new winds of mine right away, I was super clumsy with it that I even bashed into trees, before I found control. The wings drained considerable energy from , but not too much that would have worried, and nothing that my couldn't replenish in ti.

I then began flying about with it for minutes, getting the hang of it, and still, I hit so trees. I had one injured–though I didn't feel the pain myself. I had tried zooming in between the trees, and in the spur of the mont, I forgot that there were two jutting sorta limbs attached to my back.

The injured bug wing soon healed itself, it was almost like the wound wasn't there in the first place. I had slamd the right one on a tree that it broke and bent away from where it ought to, and with just a stretch, it beca as it once was.

I went back to the spot where I left the herd, and undid the bug wings. It was like the wings retracted into my back and the spot they jutted from sealed up.

I thought to check the details behind them, perhaps I would get an interesting piece of lore.

Focusing on the skill tabs prompted them to expand, and revealed new information.

[These wings were said to have been the ones that granted the Fly-god victory over the encroaching enemies, it boasts of speed, durability and versatility. The weapons were chipped from the god once he died for they were said to be valuable weapons of war, and due to your powerful and dominating presence, you were chosen to wield this.]

"Oh my, mythical."

[You have accomplished the steps to reach this level of ability. Whether a horde, a person, you can imbue more of your presence in the battlefield and inform them of who you are]

I activated the skill, and with active, I could see the potent commanding aura I radiated.

"Ohhh, this is quite handy."

It was like I oozed a sea of blackness that threatened to swallow and subdue any and all that got caught under it. I found it fitting, in fact such a move was very due to be in my arsenal.

I moved on ahead to the gnats, closing the gap between us and I touched one on the face. The face was rough to my finger, and fascinating to touch but the gnats in itself made no reaction, it fully understood its position in the hierarchy of things.

'I wonder though. Do my titles have any effect on others? Or are they simply just there to make aware of my accomplishnts?' And though I didn't mind them either way, I was hoping the titles were of the forr.

I didn't get any answers however, none from the system and I sighed.

"I suppose it was ti I went on."

I looked at the giant gnats and then activated , I was atop them, practically looking down at them. From this distance, I saw how truly irrelevant they were and I realized,

"I don't want to lord over bugs. Best I either kill them or leave them alone. Perhaps… No, Bugs can be unpredictable. I don't want any barging in my affairs after I had told them to go."

A re change in perspective made see them for what they really were. I found them fascinating up close, but up here, they were just inconsequential annoying bugs, nobody would miss them.

"Sorry, but I've got the title already and I've gotten the skills. There is no use to you guys anymore."

I clasped my hands, and flas birthed on them. I looked down at them once again, and yet they were unmoving.

A silly thought then ca to my mind, yes I was going to enjoy this.

"Rejoice for you have been given the grace to burn under the flas of one as mighty as I. Rejoice for the Lord of Flies will grant you peace. Rejoice for the warm embrace I offer." I cried dramatically, playing the role of a religious nut, and then, I sent flas their way.
