"Your majesty, I truly respect you for doing sothing for the low-ranking beasts but don’t you think that your orders are going to leave many of the nobles upset?"

An elderly man was standing in front of Bree and rubbing his hands together while speaking in a calm and collected voice. However, that was just on the surface. Inwardly, the man was on the verge of sweating buckets of ice-cold sweat.

As the aura that was filling the room within which he was standing was not sothing that could be easily ignored.

"Like you, Lord Huston?" Bree asked as she raised her head and smiled at the man with a hand resting under her chin. She was threateningly holding a quill in between her fingers and said to Lord Huston, "I have heard so rumours about the little banquet that you held six months ago."

"As well as the little illegitimate son of yours who suddenly went missing."

Lord Huston’s head buzzed as he raised his head and looked at Bree with shock in his eyes. He never expected the empress to know so much about what went on within the house of a small-ranking official like him.

He almost jumped three feet in the air and said to Bree, "Your majesty, who—who told you such nonsense? There is no such thing."

The banquet that took place was more than six months ago and he had already sent that bastard away under the commands of his wife. There was no way anyone could prove that he had done anything wrong but Lord Huston was not willing to be careless.

He had heard about what happened to Lord Cilantro and Lord Ballzac; he dared not treat Bree like he used to in the past, believing that this woman was still the sa stupid woman who had no idea what was going on in the nation.

She knew better than so officials what was happening in the nation.

"Do you believe that just because it happened ages ago, I will not be able to find the evidence to prove what happened within your house and at that party?" Her voice suddenly grew stern as she reprimanded the man in front of her, "Lord Huston, I dare not ask you and the rest of the officials to respect the low-ranked and endangered shifters but the least you can do is let them live their lives without worrying about their life and death. Do you even realise how terrifying it is to wake up every day and worry about whether they would be able to spend the rest of the day alive and without being caught by so high-ranking shifter who thinks that they are beneath them?"

"No matter what your rank or shifting class is, you are not the God of this world. Neither you nor I have the right to decide who is lower and who is higher, do you understand?"

"Y-yes, your majesty," Lord Huston squeaked.

Bree lowered her head as she started working on the docunts in front of her and said to Lord Huston, "I will not question you about what happened in the past, but—" She raised her eyes lazily and said to the man in front of her, "I don’t want to see you all scheming behind my back all the ti. Instead of worrying about having fun and living a life of comfort and debauchery, you should be helping around with the official tasks! Do you see this? This work belongs to you all but because you all do a shitty job, I have to redo it. Sotis I wish I could throw you all out and bring so hard-working and smart people into the cabinet. So unless you want to kick you all out, start picking your slack!"

She paused and added, "And stop being so stupid. Others are using your shoulder to load their guns and you are letting them down like a fool. If this goes on, one day you will be the one who will be kicked out of the cabinet while the ones who provoked you will be filled with glee."

Lord Huston left the office with a dazed look on his face. He blinked his eyes; upon stepping outside, he still could not understand what was going on until so of the officials walked up to him and questioned him.

"Lord Huston, what did her majesty say?"

"Were you able to make her understand that she was making a mistake?"

"Did she say sothing about revoking her order?"

At first Lord Huston didn’t realise what was going on but soon he recalled the words that Bree said to him and his face started to turn purple.

He glared at the n in front of him and said to them, "You all! How dare you make a fool out of ? So the reason you pushed in front of the dragon queen was because you wanted to bear the brunt of her temper?"

No matter how foolish he was, Lord Huston understood Bree’s words at that mont instantly. These people, they actually said such pleasant things to him before because they wanted him to face Bree as well as her ire.

Damn, they really sched against him.

"Lord Huston, what are you talking about?" even though it was the truth, no one was willing to admit it. One of the officials said to Lord Huston with a smile, "You are thinking too much; it’s not like that. We truly thought that her majesty would show you respect, as you are one of the oldest officials in the cabinet."

Lord Huston snorted before glancing at the man who spoke. He said, "You know in your heart why you said those words. There is no need for you to make any excuses to ."

After speaking, he repeated the words that Bree had said to him with an annoyed expression, "If you have so much ti, why don’t you go ahead and do your work? Are you waiting for her majesty to lose her temper and kick you out of the cabinet?"
