" That is just boring," said Bree after a short pause.

" I prefer taking the precautions just to be on the safe side," Yakov answered pushing his glasses on the bridge of his nose again. " We as nobles aren’t that likeable by the commoners. There are tis when they might be upset with the rulers and try to rebel, doing sothing foolish as trusting them can surely be a big mistake."

And Bree was an unlikeable ruler because of her antics.

After listening to what Yakov had to say, Bree’s lips twitched. " You sure have a way with your words, to think that you called foolish in such a roundabout way."

" I don’t dare to call you a fool, your majesty. I am just trying to tell you that there is nothing wrong with you being a bit cautious," replied Yakov patiently. " But if you still feel that I might have said sothing wrong then I will like to apologise to you."

" Forgiving you is not that difficult," said Bree as she picked up a chop and held it in front of his mouth. " Try it, if you want my forgiveness then you have to take a bite of this."

" My stomach will go bad."

" Oh no, Yakov." With her hands clutching her face she stared at him with a horrified look. " I didn’t know that you are so delicate!"

He stared at Bree for a long ti before his lips curled up in a smile. She was really unique, wasn’t she?

" I don’t want to try it because I know that I am not going to like it."

" You won’t know if you don’t take a bite."

"That’s not how it works, your majesty," said Yakov pushing a lock of his erald lock behind his ear. " I am not the kind of guy to leave anything unfinished. If I take a bite of that chop then I am going to eat it all, after all eating it a bit ans that I took responsibility to finish it. If I don’t eat it, then it ans that I shirked my responsibility, sothing like this I can’t do."

"It’s just a chop," deadpanned Bree was there any need to make it sound so serious?

" I am just this type of guy, you know it, my Queen."

Bree placed the chop back on the plate and licked her fingers. " You know I didn’t know that you were this stuck up at most I thought that you were a bit awkward but now I realise that you are simply stubborn."

" I am not stubborn, your majesty," countered Yakov with a slight scrunch of his brows. " I am a guy who lives his life according to a set of rules and regulations. It’s not bad to follow a particular lifestyle if it ans to survive till the end."

"As I said, it’s boring," drawled Bree leaning on her clenched fists. " Living your life in a set motion doesn’t actually an that you are living, it only ans that you are alive but not really living your life." She pushed the plates with the chop towards him and repeated. " Try one, you saw it I ate it too. The chop is all right there is no poison, so there is no way it’s going to kill you. Of course, you can ignore it if you don’t want my forgiveness."

Yakov sighed and pulled the plate towards him. " Fine, if that’s what you want to do, your majesty."

He snatched a piece of chop from the plate and took a bite, he noticed that Bree was looking at him in an excited manner. Her eyes were shining and she seed a bit short on squealing, he huffed a breath and chewed the thing that he was holding before shaking his head. "It’s too oily and spicy for ." The custors around him looked at him as if he committed an offence. He rolled his eyes and then turned to look at them. " Can’t anyone have a preference here?"

Bree rolled her eyes as she chuckled under her breath, he caught the word ’stubborn’ muttered under her breath as she raised her eyes and caught his gaze. " You are really straight-laced aren’t you?"

" I just prefer fewer spices and oil in my food," muttered Yakov taking another bite of his chop, the spiciness made his stomach churn.

" Are you really going to finish it?" She asked with eyes wide. " You look like you are going to puke anyti."

He bit another bite before putting the back of his hand against his mouth to stop himself from hurling what he just ate. "It’s sothing that I took in my hands, I can’t leave it unfinished and my mother taught that leaving half-eaten food is disrespectful."

Bree stared at him with amusent and exasperation before she picked up a chop herself and then took a bite. " You sure are stubborn, no wonder you tried to get rid of after all I was obstructing your perfect order."

Yakov didn’t know that he was capable of feeling guilty but as he looked at Bree who was eating in silence he couldn’t help but rub his lips uncomfortably as a stab of a rather awkward feeling stabbed him. " I know that this is a bit late but I would like to apologise to you, your majesty. I didn’t want to do that either but as you can see, I had no other choice but to do it. Your actions and decisions were harming the empire and the consorts as well and since I took the charge of the harem and the court, that was the right thing to do."

He lowered his head and threw the bone on the plate. "It’s not like I didn’t wait for you to co to your senses."

Bree heaved a long breath, well that was true. Yakov compared to the other consorts did try to get the Dragon Queen to co to her senses, it was only when he saw that no matter what he did nothing would change did he change his course of action.
