She certainly knew it was a joke; such an event could not possibly occur. Yet she said it anyway, as if only by voicing it out could she feel so relief in her heart. Jih Heng said, "Well then, it is said that on Dendrobium Xianshang Mountain there are fairies that can fulfill people’s wishes. Who knows, they might have heard what you said and specially allowed you to return to my childhood to take revenge for ."

Jiang Li raised her fist and exclaid, "I’ll use Ah Zhao’s slingshot to drive them all away!"

Jih Heng laughed while playfully ruffling her hair, "Oh my, that’s truly terrifying."

As she watched Jih Heng gradually erge from that gloomy mood while speaking, she felt slightly relieved. However, there was still a discomfort as if she were choking on a breath stuck in her chest, even while she lay in bed with Jih Heng at night, she still thought about this.

The terrain of Dendrobium Xianshang Mountain was high, making the nights especially cold. Jiang Li, half-asleep, did not know the ti when she suddenly heard the sound of children frolicking outside, mixed with a few curses. Jiang Li opened her eyes and got up, turned her head to look beside her, and there was no trace of Jih Heng, with the bedneatly made as if she had been alone from the start.

She was stunned for a mont and should have gone looking for Jih Heng first, but for so reason, drawn by the noises outside, as if possessed, she donned her clothes and walked out of the house.

Outside the door, moonlight shone like water, but the thick snow from the dayti had vanished without a trace, more like the late autumn and early winter seasons, already chilly yet not freezing. Everything around was very quiet, with only the wind. But the voices of the playing children clearly entered her ears.

Jiang Li, without hesitation, followed the direction of the sounds, not feeling scared but rather feeling as if soone was mysteriously guiding her along. As she walked, she suddenly felt that this road seed very familiar, as if it were the very sa path she had walked with Jih Heng during the day.

After an indeterminate amount of ti, she ca upon a huge lake, its water shimring with a cool radiance, quite unlike the frozen state it was in during the day. At the edge of the lake stood a group of children.

These children all appeared to be six or seven years old, the oldest not surpassing ten, dressed in white clothes and pants, their hair uniformly tied with blue bands, as if they belonged to one sect. Among them stood a boy about five or six years old, who was incredibly delicate and beautiful, almost unearthly with his red lips and white teeth. It was hard to imagine that at such a young age his features were so striking. Unlike the other boys, he did not wear white but donned a narrow-sleeved little red robe, setting off his more fair complexion. Under the moonlight, he looked like a fairy child who ca down from so celestial mountain to frolic or as if so flower had spirit and embodied the beauty of a blooming spirit.

The leading boy said, "His mother is from the brothel, not a good person, so neither is he! Jih Heng, get out of the Fuji Sect!"

Jih Heng? Jiang Li was greatly startled. How could this be Jih Heng? She closely examined the red-clothed boy’s facial features. Those amber-colored eyes, now having a beautiful shape, and the small red birthmark under the eyes, just as always, indeed it was Jih Heng. But he looked like a young Jih Heng of about five or six years old.

How could she be seeing a young Jih Heng? Jiang Li also called out Jih Heng’s na, but Jih Heng did not respond to her. The boys seed as if they could not see Jiang Li at all.

At this mont, Young Jih Heng let out a cold laugh. He stood still and said, "My mother is not a bad person; it’s you who are bad. If you want gone, go tell True Master Jingxuan yourselves. Anyway, I don’t want to stay here either."

He was just a child, yet his face was frosty, his body stood tall and straight, but Jiang Li felt she could see through his stubborn eyes the heartache hiding in the dark.

He was just a child, but it seed he was already accustod to this, having experienced it many tis. No matter the reasons these fellow disciples had for disliking Jih Heng, bullying him secretly at night behind the backs of their masters was truly despicable.

The others upon hearing this were naturally furious. One of the older youths stepped forward and gave Jih Heng a hard shove. Young Jih Heng, still small and weak, fell into the lake with a loud "plop."

The boys laughed uproariously from the shore, watching his embarrassed floundering before walking away, leaving only Young Jih Heng struggling in the water. Jiang Li couldn’t do anything and ran anxiously to the lakeside. When she touched the surface of the water, it was ice cold. Jih Heng struggled to swim towards the shore. In her desperation, Jiang Li reached out to pull him, and at that mont, she suddenly found that she could grab ahold of Jih Heng. Filled with joy, she grabbed the sleeve of Jih Heng’s robe and pulled him up to safety.
