Days passed by and it was finally the day of Cali’s surprise for Rui. It was the weekend and Rui woke up early but he was surprised that Cali was no longer in bed.
He went out of the room and saw Cali with Yera preparing breakfast.
"Co and sit... The table is ready..." Cali said with a bright smile.
Soon Xander joined them. Yera looked at Rui and said, "Would you mind if I borrow Cali from you this morning? I want to visit a friend and Xander does not want to accompany ."
"Sure, Yera," Rui answered with a smile though he suddenly felt confused as he looked at Xander suspiciously. Xander seed occupied with eating and was not comnting at all.
’What’s wrong with this clingy dude?’ he mused because he was so used to Xander who often followed his wife like a leech and now he suddenly did not want to accompany her!
’Did they quarrel?’ he worriedly thought. He looked and observed but it seed that there was nothing to get worried about since Yera was smiling a lot.
After breakfast, Xander pulled Rui into the garden and said, "Play chess with for a while..."
"What’s going on?" Rui asked as they settled on the chair and table outside.
"What do you an?" Xander comnted as he arranged the board on the table.
"You’re the clingy husband and suddenly you don’t want to accompany Yera?" he pondered.
Xander chuckled and said, "She will kill if I would insist on accompanying her. She told that she wants to go out with Cali but she’s shy to ask you directly so she used as an alibi..."
"By the way, she forgot to return the rings..." Rui comnted as their ga started. Xander looked at Rui with snapped eyebrows as he bead, "Rings?!"
"My wedding rings. Mine and Cali’s. She wanted to look at them saying that she admired the design and would pattern a similar design for your silver anniversary," Rui said since Yera did not ask him to keep it from Xander.
"That’s odd. I an silver? That’s twenty-five years from now and besides, I’m sure there will be many designs that are better by that ti... Anyway, I’ll just ask her later." Xander added.
Rui was in deep thought. He slled sothing fishy. Sothing was definitely going on and he just could not pinpoint what it exactly was, until Xander’s mobile phone rang.
"It was Yera, she told to bring you to the address she gave. She said your outfit is in the other room." Xander relayed with a confused look.
Rui followed by Xander quickly checked the said outfit hanging in one of the guestrooms.
It was an all-white tuxedo.
Xander chuckled because there was a na tag saying it was Rui’s
"Bro, are you getting married?" Xander comnted but suddenly paused and turned to Rui who also t his stare.
"Are you thinking what I am thinking right now?" Xander whispered and Rui nodded.
"Bro, you’re so slow, like a turtle! How co it’s Cali again who planned a surprise wedding like this?!" Xander scolded. He couldn’t believe that Cali advanced over Rui the second ti around too.
Rui was speechless and could only scratch his head while a wide smile crept on his face.
"Are you happy, huh? Grinning like that after being proposed to, and now this surprise wedding?" Xander mumbled as he shook his head while Ru’s face only reddened as he smiled timidly.
"Hurry up and don’t keep the bride waiting. Go and change, I will also change. Now we know why Yera asked for the rings from you last night and did not return it intentionally." Xander scoffed as he grabbed his suit as well.
Rui was shaking as he changed. He felt so overwheld by how things turned out well at the end. He could not ask for more but to be with Cali in his lifeti. Tears were falling from his eyes without even him knowing he was already crying.
"This is embarrassing..." he whispered with a grin as he wiped the tears from his eyes before Xander could notice it. Xander was right though, he was too slow. He was planning a surprise wedding as well but not this fast since he wanted to personally talk to grandpa Lua and nanny Shine before going through with his plan.
He went out of the room and saw Xander was on the phone.
"Let’s go..." Xander said as soon as the call ended and Rui nodded.
"Was that Yera?" he asked as soon as they were inside the car. Xander was driving and he was in the passenger seat.
"Yeah. I asked her what’s going on and she said it’s not a surprise wedding... Do you actually believe that? Goodness. She should have told so we can orchestrate a better plan. Those two ladies are too clumsy.
Did they think we have a low IQ that we wouldn’t be able to comprehend it all quickly? Why even choose and leave a tuxedo outfit for you beforehand? When they can just give us the outfit once we arrive at the church. I an they just killed the suspense." Xander complained because Yera and Cali handled it improperly.
Rui only laughed and said, "Yera did not include you since she knows you’re a blabbermouth who tends to spoil things by accident. Anyway, it’s still thrilling for . Just the thought that Cali prepared sothing like this for makes feel like I’m on cloud nine."
"Yes, you deserve this my friend. You suffered a lot and I guess it’s good that Cali is doing all this for you. There’s a reason why you are slow like a turtle with things I guess since Cali was ant to do the proposing and planning the surprise wedding..." Xander concluded.
Rui laughed and said, "Are you complinting or insulting ?"
"Both... Insulting you for being slow and complinting you for being hardworking, for being soone who doesn’t easily give up on a loved one..." Xander mumbled with a twitched mouth.
There was a sudden silence and Rui turned to look at Xander.
"Bro?" he whispered, seeing Xander wiping his tears.
"Oh, don’t mind and go practice your vows. Geez, I think sothing is in my eyes and that made feel like crying." Xander muttered, controlling the stutter in his voice.
Rui smiled and whispered, "I love you, bro..."
